Tony Zych RP | NYY
Mariners' Tony Zych: Placed on 15-day DL with shoulder tendinitis
Zych was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday retroactive to May 2 due to rotator cuff tendinitis.
It's unclear when the ailment arose, but it's apparently bad enough to warrant a DL stint for Zych. There is currently no timetable for his return, but that should become clearer once he begins his rehab process. Right-hander Steve Johnson had his contract selected from Triple-A Tacoma and was called up to take his spot on the roster.

Michael Fulmer RP | NYY
Tigers' Michael Fulmer: Making next start Thursday
Fulmer will start Thursday against the Indians, Chris Iott of MLive.com reports.
Fulmer made his major league debut Friday, going five innings with four strikeouts while allowing just two runs en route to earning the win. With Shane Greene (finger) on the disabled list, Fulmer will continue filling in at the back end of the Detroit rotation.

Kirby Yates RP | PIT
Yankees' Kirby Yates: Off to solid start to season
Yates is carrying a 3.52 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 7.2 innings this season.
Yates has proven to be a decent option out of the bullpen, though his struggles with his command (five walks) have led to a middling 1.43 WHIP. The 29-year-old hasn't seen many high-leverage situations yet though, and with Aroldis Chapman's (suspension) impending return likely pushing everyone else back in the bullpen, that's unlikely to change in the near future.

Carson Smith RP | BOS
Red Sox's Carson Smith: Activated from DL
Smith (forearm) was activated from the disabled list ahead of Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
Coming off a fantastic 2015 campaign in Seattle, Smith missed the first month of the season due to a flexor mass in his right forearm. He figures to get most of his work in the seventh or eighth innings, competing with Koji Uehara and Junichi Tazawa for hold opportunities. Smith pitched 1.2 flawless innings during his brief rehab assignment with Double-A Portland.

Kendall Graveman RP | ARI
Athletics' Kendall Graveman: Struggles for second straight start
Graveman (1-3) struggled for the second straight start Monday, allowing four runs on 10 hits in 6.1 innings, while striking out six and walking one in a loss to the Mariners.
Graveman has been way too hittable lately, allowing 10 hits in each of his last two outings after surrendering that many total in his first three starts combined. The 25-year-old is flashing an increased K/9 of 7.85 after managing only a 5.99 mark in 2015, but that increased strikeout rate won't do Graveman much good if he continues to fail to pitch deep into games. He'll have his work cut out for him if he wants to turn things around in his next start Sunday at Baltimore.

Chris Devenski RP | NYM
Astros' Chris Devenski: Will make another start Thursday
Devenski will make another start Thursday at home against Seattle, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
After holding his own against Oakland on Saturday in his first big league start, Devenski was named the starter for the matchup with the Mariners on Thursday. If he pitches well, it's reasonable to think that Devenski could stick in the rotation for at least one more turn next week as Lance McCullers is scheduled for a rehab start Saturday at Triple-A Fresno, and he won't be available to the Astros until May 12 at the earliest.

Hunter Harvey RP | CHC
Orioles' Hunter Harvey: Out 4-6 weeks following sports hernia surgery
Harvey (groin) will miss 4-to-6 weeks following sports hernia surgery, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
With the missed time, Harvey will have missed two years in between professional games once he's healthy enough to return. It would be ideal for the O's if Harvey can at least log a full workload during the second half of the season to begin building up volume as part of his long-term development.

Aroldis Chapman RP | BOS
Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Continues to pitch in extended spring training
Chapman (suspension) will pitch in an extended spring game Wednesday, the New York Post reports.
Chapman's 30-game suspension ends May 9, so the Yankees will look to get him back in game shape with the plan of possibly pitching two innings Wednesday before pitching again Friday. He figures to slot in as the club's closer immediately upon return, pushing Andrew Miller back to a setup role.

Greg Mahle RP | LAA
Angels' Greg Mahle: Picks up first major league win Sunday
Mahle tossed a scoreless fifth inning in relief of Garrett Richards on Sunday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one, to pick up his first major league win in a 9-6 victory over the Rangers.
He's been solid in relief for the Angels this season, posting a 1.13 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 5:4 K:BB in eight innings over 10 appearances, but Mahle's main value prior to Sunday had come from his four holds. The Angels don't have any established left-handers in their bullpen, so Mahle is likely to continue being a sneaky source of holds as long as he can remain effective.

Carson Smith RP | BOS
Red Sox's Carson Smith: Tuesday activation expected
Smith (forearm) is expected to be activated for Tuesday's game against the White Sox, the Boston Globe reports.
Smith has met all his targets while on rehab and is ready to help the major league bullpen. Boston cleared the deck for his return when it optioned Marco Hernandez to Triple-A Pawtucket. Smith is expected to work in a seventh or eighth inning role, but manager John Farrell will be careful in how frequently he's used at the outset.
