Suero (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday with Triple-A Rochester, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Suero has been out with a strained oblique since mid-April. He threw 22 pitches in a simulated game Thursday, so he shouldn't be too far from returning to the active roster if he gets through a rehab appearance without issues.

Hernandez (biceps) will throw 20 pitches of live batting practice Saturday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Hernandez left his first start of the year with biceps inflammation but has been making steady progress towards a return to the mound. He threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and is now ready to face hitters. His pitch count still isn't anywhere close to a starter's workload, however, so he has some work left to do before returning to game action.

Edwards' contract was selected by Atlanta on Friday.

Edwards was a very good reliever in the not-too-distant past, posting a 3.06 ERA from 2015 through 2018. He stumbled to an 8.47 mark in 2019, however, and threw just 4.2 innings last year before suffering a forearm injury. If Edwards is somehow fully back in vintage form, he could throw high-leverage innings at some point this season, but that shouldn't be close to the default expectation given the way his recent seasons have gone.

Adam was recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Friday, Maddie Lee of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

The 30-year-old was optioned to the alternate site last week but will rejoin the Cubs ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Pirates. Adam has surrendered seven runs on seven hits with a 10:6 K:BB across 6.2 innings out of the bullpen this season.

Bass gave up a hit and a walk in a scoreless eighth inning to record his first hold of the season in Thursday's win over the Diamondbacks.

It wasn't pretty, as Bass threw only eight of 15 pitches for strikes, but he was able to get the job done. The veteran righty has a 1.08 ERA over 8.1 innings since spitting the bit on the closer role, but his 5:3 K:BB over that stretch suggests he's still not a great fit for high-leverage work.

Floro (2-1) worked a perfect seventh inning Thursday to pick up the win over the Diamondbacks.

He tossed an efficient 11 pitches (eight strikes) before handing the ball off to Anthony Bass for the eighth inning. Floro has only been scored upon once in 16 appearances to begin the season, leading to a 1.23 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB through 14.2 innings, and the right-hander has four holds in addition to his wins.

Stewart will undergo Tommy John surgery next week, he announced on his personal Twitter page Friday.

Stewart owns a 6.05 ERA in 105.2 career innings for the Dodgers and Blue Jays. He didn't throw an inning last season after getting cut by the Cubs over the summer. The timing of the surgery means he'll miss all of this season as well as a significant portion of the 2022 campaign.

Bukauskas (1-1) allowed two runs on three hits over one inning and picked up the loss to the Marlins on Thursday.

Two pitches into his stint, Bukauskas served up a home run to Adam Duvall, which broke a 1-1 tie and sent Miami on to a win. Following a four-outing hitless run after he was called up, Bukauskas has run into trouble, giving up six runs and nine hits over his last three innings.

Smith notched his seventh save of the season Thursday against the Nationals after pitching a scoreless inning. He allowed one hit and struck out one.

Smith allowed a double to Ryan Zimmerman to begin the ninth inning, but he settled down quickly and retired Trea Turner, Yadiel Hernandez and Josh Harrison to close things out. Smith has now gone 7-for-7 in save opportunities this season and has not allowed a run in any of his last five appearances.

May pitched a perfect eighth inning while striking out two to secure a hold in Thursday's win over the Cardinals.

May has been stellar so far this season, as he owns a 1.59 ERA in 11.1 innings and the only earned runs against him came in his first appearance. Edwin Diaz has been inconsistent and banged up at times, which could lead to May receiving some save opportunities in the future. The 31-year-old has certainly been the most consistent pitcher in the Mets' bullpen in 2021.
