Castillo allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out nine batters over seven innings in a no-decision against Minnesota on Monday.

Both of the runs and three of the four hits Castillo gave up came in the fifth inning. The veteran hurler was otherwise dominant, racking up 18 swinging strikes and nine punchouts. Castillo finished with his third quality start over his past four outings, though he's managed only one win over that stretch. He's been a consistent and reliable starter in his first full season with Seattle, completing at least five frames in all 21 of his starts and compiling a 3.02 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 142:32 K:BB over 125.1 innings.

Maeda pitched 6.1 innings against Seattle on Monday, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out eight batters in a no-decision.

Maeda got through four scoreless frames before Sean Murphy hit a solo shot off him in the fifth. That was the only run the right-hander allowed, and he departed in line for the win with one out in the sixth only to see Minnesota's bullpen give up the lead in the ninth. Maeda finished with his third quality start over his past four outings, and he's now allowed three or fewer runs in each of his six starts since returning from the injured list June 23. During that span, the veteran hurler has posted very solid numbers, including a 2.48 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 44:11 K:BB over 32.2 innings.

Allen (4-3) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits over seven innings Monday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Royals.

Allen gave up just two runs through five frames before serving up a two-run shot to Salvador Perez in the sixth inning. It was the first homer allowed by Allen since June 15 and was the first time in his career that he was tagged with multiple home runs. The left-handed rookie fired 12.2 shutout innings over his previous three starts and still owns a solid 3.39 ERA after Monday's hiccup. Allen's next outing is projected to be against the White Sox in Chicago this weekend.

Kremer did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing a run on three hits and two walks over seven innings in a 3-2 win over the Phillies. He struck out three.

Kremer's solid albeit inconsistent season continued Monday -- he was tagged for five runs in 4.2 innings in his previous outing against the Dodgers, though he's now held opponents to just one run in three of his last four starts. Overall, Kremer is 10-4 with a 4.59 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP and 104:33 K:BB through 21 starts (115.2 innings) this season. The 27-year-old right-hander is currently lined up to make his next start Sunday against the Yankees.

Flores was placed on the 7-day injured list due to an undisclosed injury Monday, Emily Waldon of Baseball America reports.

The move is retroactive to July 22, so he'll be eligible for activation beginning Saturday. Flores owns a 4.04 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 75 strikeouts over 75.2 frames so far this season with Double-A Erie.

Ryu (elbow) isn't expected to be activated from the 60-day injured list during Toronto's weekend series against the Angels, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Ryu is slated to throw a bullpen either Monday or Tuesday, but the team doesn't expect him back in the starting rotation until next week. The Blue Jays may have a better idea of when the southpaw will make his 2023 season debut following his upcoming side session.

Skubal (1-1) earned the win Monday, allowing two hits over five scoreless innings in a 5-1 win over San Francisco. He struck out nine.

It was quite a bounce-back performance from Skubal after he allowed seven runs over four innings in his last start against Kansas City. The 26-year-old left-hander logged a season-high nine strikeouts en route to his first win of the year. Skubal still threw only 82 pitches over five innings as the Tigers continue to monitor his workload following his return from last August's elbow surgery. Skubal's ERA is now down to 3.71 with a 0.88 WHIP and an encouraging 23:3 K:BB through his first four starts (17 innings) this season. His next outing is tentatively lined up for this weekend against the Marlins.

The Guardians transferred Bieber (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Bieber was placed on the IL coming out of the All-Star break after being diagnosed with right elbow inflammation. While the Guardians recently determined that he won't require surgery to address the injury, it's apparent that he's dealing with something more significant than minor swelling after he was sent in for a re-evaluation over the weekend. The right-hander is midway through a two-week non-throwing period, and based on the Guardians' decision to move him to the 60-day IL, he seems unlikely to resume baseball activities until at least some point in early August. Since Bieber won't be eligible for activation until Sept. 10 as a result of the transaction, fantasy managers in most redraft leagues are likely best off cutting the 2020 American League Cy Young Award winner in favor of a healthy option.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Turnbull (neck) will make rehab starts Tuesday and Sunday with High-A West Michigan, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Turnbull has been facing live hitters for more than a week and will now begin the process of getting stretched back out while he heads down to the farm for a pair of rehab starts. The right-hander has been sidelined since early May with a neck injury, so he'll likely be in store for a relatively slow buildup. He's expected to cover two innings Tuesday and three Sunday before likely moving his rehab assignment to Double-A Erie or Triple-A Toledo the following week. Prior to being shelved, Turnbull compiled a 7.26 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in seven starts with Detroit and had been optioned to Triple-A, so he won't be guaranteed a spot in the big-league rotation once he's formally activated from the 60-day injured list.

The Tigers optioned Faedo to Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

Though he was called up from Toledo on Sunday to make what amounted to a spot start versus the Padres, Faedo continued to make a case for a more permanent place in the Detroit rotation. Faedo blanked the Padres over six innings while issuing four walks and allowing one hit, lowering his WHIP to 1.04 through seven starts in the big leagues this season. While the stellar performance wasn't enough for Faedo to stick around in Detroit, he'll likely be first in line for a promotion if the Tigers lose another starter to the injured list or if rookie Reese Olson's struggles in his most recent start carry over to his upcoming outings.
