The Tigers announced Friday that Mize (elbow) has resumed playing catch four times per week, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Mize, who is working his way back from June 2022 Tommy John surgery as well as back surgery, had his rehab program shut down about three weeks ago after experiencing back discomfort. Fortunately, the setback wasn't a major one, as Mize resumed throwing a week later. He'll likely to gradually increase the distance of his throwing sessions before potentially advancing to mound work by the end of June. An August or September return from the 60-day injured list remains realistic for Mize, though it's unclear if he'll have sufficient time to build back up for a starting role.

Greinke didn't factor into the decision Monday, allowing three runs on six hits and zero walks over five innings in a 5-4 loss to the Reds. He struck out four.

Greinke has completed at least five innings in 12 of his first 14 starts this season and sports a 4.65 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 54:9 K:BB across 71.2 innings. After a rough April (6.66 ERA over five starts), the 39-year-old turned back the clock in May, posting a 2.30 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 25:3 K:BB over 31.1 innings. However, he's back on the wrong side of things, allowing 10 runs (eight earned) over his first two June appearances. Greinke will look to right the ship next time out, which is tentatively scheduled during a three-game weekend set versus the Angels.

Beck (elbow) began a rehab assignment Monday with the Yankees' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, striking out five over three perfect innings.

The rehab appearance marked the professional debut of Beck, a 2021 second-round draft pick who underwent Tommy John surgery in September of that year. Beck's first outing went about as well as possible, as he struck out each of the first five batters he faced. The 24-year-old right-hander still resides on Single-A Tampa's 60-day injured list and may make another start or two in the FCL before making his debut in the Florida State League.

Dunning didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 9-6 loss to the Angels, allowing four runs on six hits and five walks over five innings against the Angels. He struck out three.

Dunning walked a season-high five batters and tied his season-worst mark in runs allowed. The right-hander opened the campaign as a long reliever, but he's worked his way into the rotation with Jacob deGrom (elbow) sidelined. Dunning has drawn seven straight starts, posting a 3.52 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 25:13 K:BB over 38.1 innings, so despite his recent struggles (eight runs allowed over his past 9.2 innings), his overall numbers as a starter are still solid. With deGrom slated for Tommy John surgery, Dunning figures to remain in the rotation for the foreseeable future and is scheduled to pitch again during a three-game weekend set versus the Blue Jays.

Anderson didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 9-6 win over the Rangers, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out seven.

Anderson allowed five or more runs for the fifth time this year but tied his season high with seven strikeouts. The left-hander's ERA has ballooned to 5.80 with him giving up 15 runs over his past three starts (15 innings), and his first season with the Angels continues to be a disappointment. Anderson signed a three-year, $40 million deal with the Halos this offseason after posting a 2.57 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with the Dodgers in 2022, both career bests. Despite his struggles, Anderson remains a key piece of the Angels' rotation and is slated to pitch again during the finale of a three-game set in Kansas City.

Miller moved to 4-3 in Monday's 8-1 win over the Marlins, allowing an earned run on one hit and three walks over six innings. He struck out six.

The promising right-hander had been put through the ringer by the dangerous lineups of both the Yankees and Rangers in his last two starts, so Monday's stellar effort was a particularly welcome sight. Miller generated 12 swinging strikes overall across his 89 pitches, with his only hiccup coming in the form of a solo home run he surrendered to Nick Fortes in the fifth inning. Miller lowered his ERA and WHIP to 4.06 and 0.92, respectively, and his first opportunity to build on the rebound showing is slated to come against the White Sox this weekend.

Waldichuk picked up the save Monday against the Rays, allowing two hits recording five strikeouts over three scoreless innings. He did not walk a batter.

While Waldichuk is in the midst of a rough season, his three-inning save on Monday was a step in the right direction. Although the southpaw largely struggled as a starter dating back to his rookie season last year, he's now generated two scoreless relief appearances in his last three outings. However, fantasy managers should still be wary of him, considering his 6.87 ERA and 1.94 WHIP.

Kaprielian improved to 2-6 in Monday's 4-3 win over the Rays, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks across six innings. He struck out four.

Kaprielian has now won two consecutive starts after not recording a win through April and May. While fantasy managers will hope this signals a turnaround for the right-hander, his 6.89 ERA and 1.71 WHIP make still make it hard to trust him in lineups. The veteran is tentatively slated to face the Phillies in his next start.

Eflin dropped to 8-2 in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Athletics after allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

Eflin had arguably his worst showing of the 2023 campaign Monday, as he failed to reach five innings for the first time all season. However, the right-hander is still in the midst of a career year. His 1.00 WHIP is eighth-best in the majors among qualified pitchers, and he's on pace to set career highs in strikeouts and wins.

Paxton allowed one unearned run on four hits and a walk over six innings in Monday's loss to Colorado. He struck out eight and did not factor in the decision.

Aside from an unearned run that scored in the fourth inning, Paxton faced little trouble while working through the Rockies' lineup. He's racked up 25 punchouts while allowing just three earned runs over his last three starts. The veteran southpaw dropped his season ERA to 3.09 with a strong 44:10 K:BB across 32 innings. Paxton's next start is lined up to be a home matchup with the Yankees.
