The Yankees are expected to recall Winans from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Winans has given up three earned runs over 10.2 innings since being sent back to Triple-A in late June. He'll now rejoin the active roster as a replacement for Rico Garcia and likely take on a long-relief role out of the bullpen.

Lugo took a no-decision after throwing six innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out five, during Friday's 8-7 loss to the Marlins.

Lugo had been a different pitcher since the calendar turned to June, going seven straight starts without allowing more than three runs. That streak came to an end Friday after the 35-year-old allowed five runs to the Marlins, including two home runs. That's been a bit of an issue for the right-hander lately as he's allowed five home runs over his last three starts spanning 18.1 innings. His next start is scheduled to be on the road at the NL Central-leading Cubs.

Cecconi (5-4) went 8.1 innings to earn the win, allowing six runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out two, during Friday's 8-6 victory over the Athletics.

Cecconi was solid through eight innings, allowing just three runs on five hits, before running into a bit of trouble in the ninth inning. It's possible that he just ran out of gas -- it was the longest the 26-year-old has been asked to pitch all season long -- but he did get the win and saved the Guardians bullpen from too much usage. His streak of seven starts in a row allowing three or fewer runs is over, but working that deep into the game is an encouraging sign regardless. The right-hander is scheduled to make his second start of the second half next Wednesday against the Orioles.

Sears (7-8) took the loss after throwing four innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out five, during Friday's 8-6 loss to the Guardians.

A four-start streak of going at least five innings concluded Friday for Sears. He allowed just six runs over that stretch, so the seven runs he allowed accounted for more than he gave up over his last four starts combined. It also was the second-most runs he's allowed in one start this season behind the nine he gave up to the Astros on May 27. The 29-year-old will look to prove this was just a one-off and not the start of a pattern during his next start, scheduled to be on the road at the Rangers.

Miller (elbow) will throw live batting practice Saturday, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.

Miller's original goal when he began his throwing program in late June was to begin facing live hitters during the All-Star break. Although he'll miss the mark on that goal by a couple of days, he has still made great progress since landing on the injured list June 10 with elbow inflammation. The Mariners will determine the 26-year-old's next steps after he throws Saturday, and it's likely he will have to make a few tune-up starts in the minors before returning to Seattle's rotation.

Javier (elbow) will continue his rehab assignment with Double-A Corpus Christi on Friday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Javier went 1.1 innings in his first rehab outing in the Florida Complex League, and he's been cleared to continue his rehab at Double-A. The 28-year-old got up to 35 pitches during the outing. Javier's recovery from June 2024 Tommy John surgery is close to complete, as he's expected back in August.

Arrighetti (thumb) will report to Double-A Corpus Christi this week, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reported Friday.

Arrighetti threw a 35-pitch live batting practice session Sunday and is slated to start a minor-league rehab assignment in the coming days. The 25-year-old has been on the shelf since April 8, and he'll likely require multiple rehab starts before being activated. If that's the case, Arrighetti won't be reinstated until August.

Gil (lat) will throw 55-to-60 pitches Friday for Double-A Somerset and may need only one additional start before being activated, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The tentative plan for Gil is to follow up Friday's start with a rehab appearance with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday. If all goes well in both outings, he could rejoin the Yankees' rotation. The 27-year-old hasn't appeared in an MLB game this season after suffering a high-grade lat strain during spring training.

Giolito (6-2) took the loss in Friday's 4-1 defeat against the Cubs, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks across 5.1 innings while recording six strikeouts.

Giolito ran into trouble immediately Friday, issuing back-to-back walks and serving up a three-run homer to Seiya Suzuki before recording his first out. The right-hander recovered well from the rocky start, keeping the Cubs quiet over the next four innings before exiting in the sixth after surrendering a double to Ian Happ. Despite the tough outing, the 31-year-old has now registered at least five strikeouts in six straight starts and owns a 1.66 ERA with a 39:9 K:BB across 38 innings during that stretch. Giolito is slated to make his next start July 23 against the Phillies.

Povich (hip) will make a rehab start Saturday for Triple-A Norfolk, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Povich threw three perfect innings in his most recent rehab start at High-A Aberdeen, and he'll continue his assignment at the Triple-A level. He threw just 30 pitches in the outing. It's unclear if Saturday's start will be his last or if he'll require another outing before being activated. Regardless, it's unclear if there will be a spot in the big-league rotation for Povich once he's healthy.
