Glasnow is expected to cover around four innings Saturday in his start against the Red Sox.

The Rays are still proceeding slowly with Glasnow as he builds up his arm following a prolonged shutdown due to the forearm strain he suffered in mid-May. The early returns have been promising for Glasnow, who has routinely sported a high-90s fastball while allowing two runs and striking out 10 in five innings since he was activated from the injured list. Assuming he avoids any setbacks in Saturday's outing, Glasnow would likely be in store for around five or six innings in his final start of the regular season next weekend in Toronto.

Greinke (17-5) allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out four over five innings to pick up the win Friday against the Angels.

Greinke survived a resilient Angels lineup to record his seventh win in nine starts as a member of the Astros. His effectiveness has dipped a bit since joining Houston, but the team with the third-most runs scored in MLB has averaged seven runs of support when Greinke starts. He'll make what is expected to be his final start of the regular season Wednesday in Seattle.

Cease (4-7) struck out eight and picked up the win in Friday's 10-1 rout of the Tigers, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over six innings.

It's the rookie's first win since Aug. 23 and his third career quality start. Cease will take the bump one more time in 2019, carrying a 5.79 ERA and 81:35 K:BB through 73 innings into Thursday's home start against Cleveland.

Morton allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out eight over 6.1 innings Friday against the Red Sox. He didn't factor into the decision.

Morton made it through the first six innings unscathed, but he surrendered a two-run blast in the seventh inning before being lifted from the contest. The 35-year-old is 2-0 over his last four starts, allowing three or fewer runs in each outing. He owns a 3.15 ERA and 1.10 WHIP with a 231:54 K:BB over 188.2 frames this season for the Rays.

Carrasco picked up the save after walking one over 1.1 scoreless innings Friday against the Phillies.

Carrasco was called upon with two outs in the eighth inning, and he managed to finish off the contest while allowing just one baserunner. The 32-year-old has now appeared in eight games since his return Sept. 1, and he's allowed three runs over 10 innings of relief work. Although Brad Hand was available Friday after battling a tired arm earlier in the week, the Indians elected to roll with Carrasco in a save situation.

Bieber (15-7) picked up the win after surrendering two runs on seven hits while striking out seven over 7.1 innings Friday night against the Phillies.

The Indians spotted Bieber an early 4-0 lead, and he wouldn't let the Phillies score until the fifth inning. He would depart after firing 67 of 101 pitches for strikes while throwing first-pitch strikes to 17 of the 28 batters he faced. Bieber has now registered three wins in his last four outings.

Chirinos (finger) will "most likely" be activated from the injured list in the next couple days, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Chirinos' recovery has seemingly gone to plan, and he is on the verge of rejoining the big club after making it through a couple simulated games without issue. Chirinos spent most of the season starting for the Rays, but with him still needing to build up some stamina, he is in line to return in a relief role.

German (administrative leave) won't pitch again this season, Buster Olney of ESPN reports.

German landed on administrative leave Thursday due to a violation of the Joint MLB-MLBPA Domestic Violence Policy. The timing of the incident made a return this season unlikely, something which has now been confirmed. It remains to be seen how a potential suspension will affect German's 2020 campaign.

Giolito (lat) was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to Sept. 14.

It was reported Monday that Giolito would miss the rest of the season, so the move to place him on the injured list was procedural only. The White Sox have no long-term concerns about Giolito's health, so expect him to be good to go for the start of spring training.

German (personal) is not expected to be part of the Yankees' postseason plans, Liz Roscher of Yahoo Sports reports.

The news comes as no surprise after German was placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball on Thursday as part of the Joint MLB-MLBPA Domestic Violence Policy. The period of administrative leave may last up to seven days, though the investigation is still ongoing and details about the incident remain murky. If the accusations against German are determined to be warranted, he is likely to face a lengthy suspension.
