Boyd (6-10) allowed seven runs on four hits and five walks across six innings to take the loss Sunday against the Twins. He struck out seven.

Boyd was able to limit the hits, but the five walks were a new season high, and he also gave up two home runs. The lefty was unable to build off his last start, when he allowed just one run across seven innings, and that's been the story lately for Boyd. Since the All-Star break, the 28-year-old has a 5.71 ERA, marking a stark contrast to the strong start he had to the season. Boyd will look for better results his next time out Saturday against these same Twins.

Bieber struck out eight while allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits with two walks during a no-decision against the Royals on Sunday.

Neither starter factored into the decision, as the Indians and Royals traded blows late and the bullpens combined to give up 12 runs. Bieber has at least seven strikeouts in each of his last seven outings, but despite his success, the Indians have lost the last three games in which he's started. Bieber is 12-6 with a 3.23 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 215 strikeouts in 175.1 innings this season. He will pitch at the Rays on Saturday in his next start.

Bundy (6-13) picked up the win after surrendering three runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out two over five innings Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Bundy dealt with plenty of traffic on the bases during his outing, though he managed to escape with a 6-3 lead after giving up one run in the fourth and two in the fifth (one earned). The 26-year-old right-hander has now allowed just three earned runs over his last two starts (12 innings) while striking out nine.

Montgomery (shoulder, elbow) pitched two perfect innings, striking out two batters in a rehab start with High-A Tampa on Sunday.

Montgomery looked sharp in his first rehab appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery last June, throwing 13 of 19 pitches for strikes and retiring all six batters he faced. The 26-year-old has also battled shoulder inflammation in the course of rehabbing his elbow, so it stands to reason that he won't be pushed to return too quickly. However, Montgomery could make it back to the Yankees by the end of the season, likely in a bullpen role.

The Astros recalled Valdez from Triple-A Round Rock ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Angels, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Valdez was summoned from the minors to claim the rotation spot vacated by Aaron Sanchez (pectoral), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. The 25-year-old lefty was beat up to the tune of a 5.58 ERA and 1.58 WHIP across 20 outings (five starts) with Houston earlier this season, but he looked dominant over his last four turns through the Triple-A rotation, compiling a 3.33 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 40:7 K:BB in 27 innings. Valdez likely won't have much leash in a starting role if he fails to find success Sunday, as Round Rock pitcher Jose Urquidy has similarly performed well of late and could get another look in the rotation when he likely joins Houston as a September callup.

The Orioles placed Means on the Family Medical Emergency List on Sunday.

The transaction comes one day after Means tossed seven innings of one-run ball in a 7-1 win over the Rays, evening his record to 9-9 in the process. Means can spend between three and seven days on the Family Medical Emergency List before rejoining the club, putting his availability for his next start in jeopardy. Due to a pair of off days Monday and Thursday, the Orioles would have the luxury of getting by with a four-man rotation for the time being if Means requires the maximum amount of time off.

Eovaldi didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Padres, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk over three-plus innings while striking out three.

The right-hander held San Diego scoreless through three frames but ran into trouble in the fourth, giving up a leadoff single to Manny Machado and then a two-run shot by Eric Hosmer to earn a quick hook from manager Alex Cora. Eovaldi threw 64 pitches (36 strikes) on the night, and it's not yet clear if Boston intends to fully stretch him out as a starter or limit him to only one or two times through the order. He'll take a 6.64 ERA and 38:19 K:BB through 39.1 innings into his next outing Friday, on the road against the Angels.

Bassitt pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five, but he did not factor in the decision Saturday versus the Giants.

Bassitt exited after allowing a game-tying single to Evan Longoria, assuring his record would remain at 9-5. For the year, Bassitt owns a 3.59 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 117:43 K:BB in 125.1 innings. The right-hander is expected to face the Royals on Thursday in a road start.

Miley (13-4) recorded the win Saturday against the Angels after giving up one run on five hits over five innings. He struck out four and walked one.

Miley served up a solo homer in the fifth inning and then proceeded to load the bases for Mike Trout, but he was able to retire the two-time MVP on five pitches to escape the jam. The veteran southpaw has a 3.13 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 129:49 K:BB through 152.1 innings and lines up to pitch Friday at Toronto.

Clevinger (9-2) earned the win Saturday against the Royals after allowing one run on four hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight and walked two.

Clevinger continued his string of starts without a loss, as he is 8-0 with a 2.11 ERA and 82:16 K:BB over his last 10 outings. The 28-year-old will look to maintain his strong form Friday at Tampa Bay.
