Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: Battling mechanical issues
Eovaldi (elbow) is working through some mechanical issues, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
Eovaldi has been making the desired physical progress in his return from elbow surgery, but his mechanics reportedly don't feel right. He'll throw a bullpen session over the weekend, at which point the Red Sox will decide the next steps in his recovery.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Shifts to 60-day injured list
Rodon (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday.
The transaction makes room on the 40-man roster for Jimmy Cordero, who was claimed off waivers from the Mariners in a corresponding move. It has no effect on Rodon's recovery time, as he isn't expected to return until the middle of next season as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

Red Sox's Nathan Eovaldi: Schedule to be clarified Friday
Eovaldi's eventual return from late-April elbow surgery will be mapped out by the Red Sox on Friday, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
Eovaldi has experienced no setbacks during his recent throwing sessions and is nearing a consistent five-day schedule. "We'll sit down (Friday) and we'll go from there. Most likely he'll go on a rehab assignment, but we don't know when, we have to look at the schedule. It's going to get tricky," manager Alex Cora said. "Have to map it out and see where we fit the guys and how we'll use them, when everybody's together tomorrow, we'll map it out." The Red Sox have a scheduling quirk coming up in late June, when the right-hander is likely to return. Boston will be traveling to the UK at the end of the month and has off days for travel preceding and following the London series against the Yankees.

Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Twins' Jose Berrios: Six innings, one run in victory
Berrios (8-2) tossed six innings of one-run ball to earn the win Thursday against Cleveland, allowing two hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
Berrios was outstanding on the night, allowing just three baserunners as he induced 10 groundball outs and threw 69 percent of his pitches for strikes. The only significant damage against him came on a solo home run in the fifth inning, although he enjoyed a lead at the time. Berrios has a 2-0 record to go along with three quality starts over his last three outings and will look to keep it rolling in his next start at home against the Mariners.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Astros' Justin Verlander: No-decision despite quality start
Verlander didn't factor into the decision against the Mariners on Thursday, giving up three earned runs on five hits over 6.1 innings, striking out seven and walking none in the Astros' 8-7 extra-innings victory.
The right-hander logged a sixth straight quality start but was forced to settle for a no-decision as the Astros needed 14 innings to finally claim the victory. Verlander is showing no signs of slowing down at age 36, as he's posting his customarily dominant numbers to the tune of a 2.40 ERA, a phenomenal 0.74 WHIP and a 110:19 K:BB over 93.2 innings.

Tommy Milone SP | SEA
Mariners' Tommy Milone: No-decision as primary pitcher
Milone tossed 5.1 innings as the primary pitcher against the Astros on Thursday, giving up one earned run on three hits, striking out one and walking one as the Mariners fell 8-7 in 14 innings. He didn't factor into the decision.
Working behind opener Austin Adams, Milone put in a solid effort, but he inherited a two-run deficit as the Astros jumped on Adams in the first inning. The veteran has pitched well over his four appearances for Seattle so far, as he's now sporting a 3.10 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP and a 20:5 K:BB over 20.1 innings.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Next start coming Sunday
Odorizzi is scheduled to start Sunday against the Tigers, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
It remains to be seen who will start for the Twins on Friday, but Kyle Gibson and Jake Odorizzi will finish out the series for Minnesota. Odorizzi last took the mound Sunday against the Rays, so he will be pitching on six days of rest when he gets the ball for Sunday's series finale in Detroit. Over his last five starts, the righty is 4-0 with a shiny 0.94 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 32:6 K:BB in 28.2 frames.
-
Kyle Gibson SP | BAL
Twins' Kyle Gibson: Start moved to Saturday
Gibson is scheduled to start Saturday against the Tigers, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
The Twins have yet to announce who will start Friday's series opener, but Gibson and Jake Odorizzi will pitch Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Gibson last pitched Saturday against the Rays, so he'll be well rested when he takes the mound in Detroit. Over his last five starts, the right-hander is 4-1 with a 2.73 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 34:5 K:BB in 29.2 innings.

Tommy Milone SP | SEA
Mariners' Tommy Milone: Working behind opener
Milone will work as the Mariners' bulk reliever behind opener Austin Adams in Thursday's game against the Astros, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
Milone was effective in his first two starts after being called up from Triple-A Tacoma on May 21 but ran into trouble his first time through the order in his most recent outing against the Angels last weekend. In an effort to enhance Milone's effectiveness against a quality Houston lineup, the Mariners will deploy the right-handed Adams ahead of the southpaw. Adams hasn't exceeded two frames in any of his relief appearances this season, so Milone should be on track to cover the bulk of the innings Thursday and is the likeliest Mariners pitcher to factor into the decision.
-
Martin Perez SP | ATL
Twins' Martin Perez: Undone by defense
Perez didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 9-7 loss to Cleveland, giving up five runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks over 4.2 innings while striking out one.
A throwing error by Miguel Sano and a passed ball by Jason Castro helped soften the blow to his ERA, but Perez didn't have his best stuff in this one, throwing 56 of 92 pitches for strikes while generating only four swinging strikes. The left-hander hasn't lasted more than five innings in any of his last three starts, and with an off day coming Monday, the Twins may elect to skip Perez entirely rather than giving the rest of the rotation an extra day of rest.
