  • John Means SP | KC

Orioles' John Means: Will start Monday

Means is slated to start Monday's game against the Red Sox, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Rather than rearranging their pitching schedule, the Orioles opted to simply push all five members of the rotation back a day. Means is thus on track to lead things off for the Orioles during the three-game series with Boston, with David Hess and Andrew Cashner on track to start Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. This assignment tentatively gives Means a two-start week, with his second projected outing happening in his Camden Yards home against the Angels.

  • Drew Smyly SP | CHC

Rangers' Drew Smyly: Back from IL

The Rangers reinstated Smyly (arm) from the 10-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Blue Jays, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Wei-Chieh Huang was optioned to Triple-A Nashville to open up a spot on the active roster for Smyly. The lefty didn't require a minor-league rehab assignment prior to his reinstatement and isn't expected to be on a strict pitch limit as he rejoins the Texas rotation.

  • John Means SP | KC

    Orioles' John Means: Orioles-Rays postponed

Means won't make his scheduled start Sunday against the Rays after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Baltimore, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

The Orioles and Rays will make up the contest July 13 as part of a doubleheader. Baltimore hasn't officially announced its rotation plans in the aftermath of the postponement, but Means may merely be pushed back one day in the schedule to start Monday against the Red Sox at home.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Yankees' James Paxton: May miss up to three weeks

General manager Brian Cashman said Sunday that Paxton (knee) will remain on the 10-day injured list for three weeks at a maximum, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports.

Paxton required a cortisone shot Saturday and will be barred from activity for 5-to-7 days while he waits for the shot to alleviate the inflammation in his left knee. Assuming the injection has the desired effect, Paxton should resume a throwing program thereafter, which would set him up for a relatively brief stay on the IL. Cashman said Jonathan Loaisiga would be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Paxton's spot in the rotation, with Loaisiga's first turn expected to come Wednesday versus the Mariners at home.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Ruled out through break

General manager Brian Cashman said Sunday that Severino (lat) won't be ready to return from the 60-day injured list until after the All-Star break, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports.

Since he's been sidelined all season, Severino is eligible for reinstatement from the IL in late May, but there's been little evidence to date suggesting that the right-hander was trending toward returning at that time. Instead, the 25-year-old was more realistically targeting an activation in early July, but Cashman's comments suggest that timeline has been pushed back even further. Severino remains in the midst of a six-week shutdown program after being diagnosed April 9 with a Grade 2 lat strain following an unsuccessful long-toss session. Even if he hits no further snags in his rehab, he won't be ready to throw again until late May and will likely require a multi-start rehab assignment before coming off the IL.

  • Dylan Bundy SP | NYM

Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Delivers scoreless gem

Bundy (1-4) earned the win by allowing only three hits across 7.1 scoreless innings during Saturday's 3-0 win over the Rays. He struck out four and walked one.

Bundy had lost four consecutive decisions entering Saturday but turned things around by generating 16 swinging strikes from the Rays. The 26-year-old has a 5.30 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 38:14 K:BB over 35.2 innings and lines up to face the Angels next weekend.

  • Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA

Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Handed tough loss

Chirinos (4-1) took the loss against the Orioles on Saturday while allowing three runs on seven hits across 7.1 innings. He struck out three and walked one.

Chirinos was originally expected to follow an opener Saturday but was instead used as a traditional starter and ended up delivering 7.1 strong innings for the Rays. The 25-year-old has pitched well with a 3.52 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 29:7 K:BB over 38.1 innings, with most of the damage coming in one outing in which he allowed six runs over 2.1 innings. Chirinos should take the mound next weekend against the Yankees.

  • Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Gives up four homers in no-decision

Carrasco allowed four runs on seven hits and zero walks across 7.2 innings during Saturday's 5-4 win over the Mariners. He struck out nine but did not factor in the decision.

Carrasco did a fantastic job limiting baserunners Saturday but was hurt by the long ball, though thankfully all four homers he surrendered were solo shots. The 32-year-old had given up four home runs over 27.2 innings this season prior to Saturday. Carrasco will carry a 5.60 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 50:7 K:BB into Thursday's start versus the White Sox.

  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Gives up two homers

Bassitt allowed three runs on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks in a no-decision against the Pirates on Saturday.

The Athletics spotted Bassitt a three-run lead, but he coughed that up by allowing two home runs to Josh Bell. He then left with a one-run lead, but the bullpen gave up three runs in the loss. It was disappointing to see the 30-year-old unable to hold onto an early lead, but he is still 1-0 with a 2.12 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with 22 strikeouts in 17 frames. His next start will be Friday against the Indians at home.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Astros' Wade Miley: Earns second win

Miley (2-2) allowed two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two across six innings to earn the win Saturday against the Angels.

Miley was provided with plenty of run support as the Astros scored at least one run in the first six innings of the game, pacing him to his second win of the season. While he struck out just two, Miley limited hard contact, holding the Angels to just one home run and one double. Though he won't be a strong source of strikeouts, Miley has a 3.20 ERA and 1.17 WHIP across 39.1 innings and seven starts this season. He'll likely draw his next start Thursday against the Rangers.
