Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD
Rays' Tyler Glasnow: Sticks in rotation Tuesday
Glasnow will make his second start with the Rays on Tuesday against the Orioles.
After the Rays acquired Glasnow from the Pirates ahead of last week's non-waiver trade deadline, it wasn't immediately clear if he would slot into the Tampa Bay rotation or work out of the bullpen in a de facto starting role behind an opener. According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, the Rays intend to transition him back into a traditional starting role, so it's expected that he'll build up his pitch count in his subsequent outings. Because he had worked exclusively as a multi-inning reliever this season during his time with the Pirates, Glasnow was pulled after 48 pitches in his Rays debut Aug. 1, but look for him to get a slightly longer leash in his second start with the club.

Matthew Boyd SP | CHC
Tigers' Matt Boyd: Allows two homers in loss
Boyd (6-10) allowed four runs on six hits -- including two home runs -- over 5.1 innings in a loss to the Angels on Monday. He struck out four and walked one.
This was a step back for Boyd after a great run coming out of the break in which he allowed just three runs while posting a 20:3 K:BB over 19 innings (three starts). He gave up three extra-base hits, including homers to two power-deficient players in Andrelton Simmons and Eric Young Jr. While Boyd is on the radar in mixed leagues given his recent success, he's still a dice roll from start to start. The 27-year-old lines up to face the Twins at home this weekend.

Charlie Morton SP | ATL
Astros' Charlie Morton: Throws seven strong innings in no-decision
Morton allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out eight over seven innings in Monday's 3-1 win over the Giants.
Morton did his part, quelling the Giants' bats, but got little support from his teammates, who placed one man in scoring position while he was in the game. He was looking at a loss before Marwin Gonzalez's three-run home run in the ninth gave Houston the win. This was Morton's third straight quality start, a run in which his ERA is 1.89 with 21 strikeouts over 19 innings. He's next scheduled to take the mound Friday at home against Seattle.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Rangers' Martin Perez: Collects quality outing vs. Mariners
Perez allowed three runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out three across seven innings Monday as he didn't factor into the decision against Seattle.
Although Perez dealt with a lot of traffic on the bases, he managed to escape with just three runs allowed. He left in a 3-3 game after tossing 98 pitches (65 strikes). Perez hasn't notched a victory in any of his previous three outings, despite surrendering just five runs through 18 innings of work while recording 12 strikeouts. The 27-year-old lefty has improved his ERA from 8.05 to 6.15 over that span.

Kyle Gibson SP | BAL
Twins' Kyle Gibson: Allows six in loss to Cleveland
Gibson (5-9) surrendered six runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out three across five innings Monday as he was saddled with the loss against the Indians.
Gibson allowed the Indians to plate two runs in the first inning and four in the fourth before exiting the ballgame. He didn't receive much help from his offense, as he left with a 6-0 deficit. After recording a quality start his last time out (July 31) against Cleveland, he failed to keep his team in the game. Gibson sits with a 3.60 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with a 135:56 K:BB over 140 innings heading into his next appearance.

Jesus Luzardo SP | PHI
Athletics' Jesus Luzardo: Solid in Triple-A debut
Luzardo (1-0) made his debut with Triple-A Memphis on Monday, firing five scoreless innings in which he allowed eight hits and recorded six strikeouts.
The promising prospect is on the fast track through the A's organization, with his promotion to Triple-A coming after he dominated at Double-A Midland over 73.2 innings. Although he pitched to some contact Monday, he ultimately prevented any damage and clearly had no trouble missing bats. Assuming Luzardo remains healthy and effective at Triple-A, the A's will face an intriguing decision over the final two months of the big-league season. Luzardo clearly profiles as someone who could help the big-league rotation as the A's push for a playoff spot, but they may not want to start his clock until early 2019, in order to maximize team control.

Lance Lynn SP | STL
Yankees' Lance Lynn: Tosses 7.1 scoreless in win
Lynn (8-8) tossed 7.1 scoreless innings en route to a win over the White Sox on Monday, allowing two hits with one walk and nine strikeouts.
Lynn allowed a hit and a walk in the first inning, but he retired 19 of the next 20 hitters he faced in this dominant outing. He was in the zone at a 65 percent clip and induced 15 swinging strikes as he tied a season high in punchouts. This performance came on the heels of the veteran's promotion into the rotation, and he's now posted 11.2 scoreless innings since joining his new club. Lynn should remain in the rotation for the foreseeable future and will face the Rangers this weekend in his next scheduled start.

Lance McCullers SP | MIL
Astros' Lance McCullers: To remain out until September
McCullers was diagnosed with a muscle strain in his right forearm Monday, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.
McCullers was pulled from Saturday night's start in the fifth inning after appearing to suffer an elbow injury. Although he'll be held out until September, the diagnosis is relatively good news for the Astros, as surgery isn't believed to be a necessary step in his recovery process. Houston will need to add a fifth pitcher to the starting rotation by Aug. 21. Brad Peacock or Collin McHugh would be prime options to slot in if Houston wants to pick from someone on the active roster. Otherwise there are a handful of deserving starters at Triple-A, although none of the top candidates are currently on the 40-man roster.
-
Deck McGuire SP | TOR
Angels' Deck McGuire: Sent back to minors
McGuire was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic Los Angeles reports.
McGuire will head back to the minors after allowing three runs while recording just one out during his start against the Indians on Sunday. The 29-year-old now owns a brutal 7.41 ERA across 17 innings with the Angels this season. Jose Miguel Fernandez will take his place on the active roster as the Angels look to add an additional bench bat with Mike Trout still nursing a wrist contusion.

Artie Lewicki SP | ARI
Tigers' Artie Lewicki: Option to rejoin big-league rotation
Lewicki is one of the top candidates to replace Mike Fiers (shin), who was traded to the A's on Monday, in the Tigers' starting rotation, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Given Lewicki pitched for Triple-A Toledo on Friday, he may not be summoned to make Tuesday's start, though he appears to be the leading candidate to replace Fiers beyond that. The 26-year-old has already started a pair of games for the big club this season and owns a 4.67 ERA and 55:16 K:BB across 12 starts (61.2 innings) for the Mud Hens. Ryan Carpenter is also an option to enter the rotation should the Tigers choose to go with someone other than Lewicki.
