  • Rob Kaminsky RP | STL

Indians' Rob Kaminsky: Activated from DL

Kaminsky (abdomen) was reinstated from the 7-day disabled list and transferred to High-A Lynchburg.

Kaminsky has yet to pitch this season after recovering from a forearm injury that he suffered last April, to go along with an abdomen issue that plagued him in recent weeks. Instead of continuing at the Double-A level, the organization decided to bring him back to High-A in order to get his arm back up to speed.

  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Confirmed for Friday's start

Bassitt will take the hill against the Angels on Friday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.

As expected, Bassitt will make his second start of the season during Friday's series opener after being recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Thursday. Over 30 appearances at the major-league level in his career, Bassitt has logged a 4.00 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with a 114:58 K:BB across 150.2 innings.

  • Myles Jaye SP | CLE

Indians' Myles Jaye: Placed on DL

Jaye landed on the 7-day disabled list with right arm soreness.

Jaye will miss a little time after being placed on the shelf following a disastrous outing against Buffalo on Sunday, during which he allowed nine earned runs on 14 hits in six innings. The right-hander has struggled in both of his starts after coming over to the Indians' organization from Minnesota at the end of May.

  • Chris Bassitt SP | BAL

Athletics' Chris Bassitt: Recalled from Nashville

Bassitt was called up to the majors Thursday.

Bassitt is expected to take the place of Trevor Cahill (Achilles) in the rotation after the latter was put on the 10-day DL in a corresponding move. Looking ahead, Bassitt is tentatively on track to start Friday's series opener against the Angels. During his lone appearance in the big leagues this season, Bassitt allowed just one run off three hits and one walk while striking out six across seven innings versus Kansas City on Saturday.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Rangers' Cole Hamels: Strikes out six in no-decision

Hamels allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits and four walks with six strikeouts through six innings in a no-decision Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Hamels' control was shaky, as his four walks tied a season high, but he managed to get strikeouts when he needed them to prevent the Dodgers from building rallies. After a Justin Turner home run in the first inning, the Dodgers only mustered a run off Hamels after a double steal and a throwing error in the second inning allowed Yasiel Puig to score from second. Hamels has just seven quality starts in 14 appearances as he has yet to find his top form consistently in 2018. He'll carry a 3.69 ERA into his next outing Tuesday against Kansas City.

  • Paul Blackburn RP | NYY

Athletics' Paul Blackburn: Blasted for first loss Wednesday

Blackburn (1-1) was hammered for eight runs on eight hits and two walks through just 1.1 innings in Wednesday's loss to the Astros.

Blackburn was excellent against a bad lineup his first time out against Kansas City, but against the defending champions, things got ugly in a hurry. Not only did Blackburn fail to miss bats, he also struggled to find the strike zone. He was often forced to throw his fastball when behind in counts. The Astros didn't take him deep, but they did notch a double and a triple to go with six singles, and after Blackburn managed just four outs on 47 pitches, he was yanked. He'll try to get back on track Tuesday against the Padres.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

Astros' Gerrit Cole: Coasts to eighth win Wednesday

Cole (8-1) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks with six strikeouts through six innings in a win Wednesday over the Athletics.

Cole allowed a pair of home runs, but he was pounding the zone after the Astros lineup gifted him with a 10-run lead through the first two frames, and both blasts came after the game was effectively decided. Cole knew he just had to eat innings and avoid any major rallies, and he did his job to win his sixth straight decision and third straight start. He'll carry a 2.40 ERA into Monday's start against the Rays.

  • Jason Hammel SP | TEX

Royals' Jason Hammel: Takes seventh loss despite quality start

Hammel (2-7) allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and struck out three through 7.1 innings but was still stuck with the loss Wednesday against the Reds.

The Royals were shut down by Tyler Mahle and the Reds' bullpen, nullifying a sharp outing from Hammel. Wednesday was his longest outing since he threw a complete game April 20 against Detroit. He was stuck with a no-decision in that start despite allowing just two runs. Even when Hammel does pitch well -- he has a poor 4.89 ERA this season -- the Royals can't be counted on to deliver him the victory. His next chance will come Tuesday against the Rangers.

  • Athletics' James Kaprielian: Starts playing catch again

Kaprielian (elbow, shoulder) began playing catch again earlier this week, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Kaprielian will be handled with care by the organization, considering he had Tommy John surgery in 2017. The 24-year-old right-hander had been throwing bullpen sessions as part of his rehab when he began feeling the shoulder discomfort that caused him to take time off from throwing. Kaprielian will presumably begin ramping his rehab back up slowly over the coming weeks.

  • Matthew Boyd SP | CHC

Tigers' Matt Boyd: Allows two in no-decision

Boyd allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings in Wednesday's win over the Twins. He did not factor into the decision.

Boyd put himself in a lot of early holes, throwing first-pitch strikes to just four of the 21 batters he faced, and as a result he needed 106 pitches just to get through five innings. The lefty hasn't been overpowering opposing hitters (59:28 K:BB over 75.1 innings), but he's been effective nonetheless and now boasts a 3.23 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. Next up is an interleague matchup Tuesday in Cincinnati.
