Forrest Whitley RP | TB
Astros' Forrest Whitley: To make 2018 debut Friday
Whitley is listed as Double-A Corpus Christi's probable starter for Friday's game against Double-A Frisco.
He served his 50-game suspension and took an extra week to get ready after missing a short amount of time with a minor lat injury, but he's apparently ready to make his 2018 debut. Whitley is the best pitching prospect in baseball, so this start comes with a lot of hype, relative to most Double-A games. His suspension delayed the start to his season by a couple months, but that inactivity will allow him to pitch without serious restrictions for the remainder of the season. If he pitches up to his standards, he'll be ready for the majors sometime this summer.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Set for simulated game Friday
Stroman (shoulder) will pitch three innings during a simulated game at extended spring training Friday, Mike Wilner of BlueJaysTalk reports.
Stroman recently tossed a live batting practice session Tuesday while he continues to work his way back from right shoulder fatigue that has sidelined the right-hander since May 11. Look for a more definitive timetable to emerge after Friday's session as Stroman will be re-evaluated following his outing.

Artie Lewicki SP | ARI
Tigers' Artie Lewicki: Lined up for Sunday's start
Lewicki will take the mound against the Indians on Sunday, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports.
Lewicki will make a second spot start after taking the loss in Boston on Tuesday, allowing four runs -- two earned -- off five hits and three walks in 3.2 innings. In all likelihood this will be his last start for the foreseeable future with Jordan Zimmermann (shoulder) and Francisco Liriano (hamstring) set to return near the end of next week.

Jordan Montgomery RP | TEX
Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Undergoes successful surgery
Montgomery (elbow) underwent Tommy John surgery Thursday, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.
Montgomery also had a loose bone chip removed from his elbow during Thursday's procedure. As is the case with any Tommy John surgery, the left-hander will likely remain sidelined for 12-to-14 months, which casts serious doubt on his status for the 2019 season. Look for updates on Montgomery's status throughout the year, especially once fall rolls around and he's able to gradually work into a rehab pattern.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Lined up for Saturday's start
Rodon (shoulder) appears likely to return from the 60-day disabled list to start Saturday's game against the Red Sox, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
After throwing 92 pitches in his final rehab outing Sunday for Triple-A Charlotte, Rodon was on track to make his season debut for the White Sox at some point during the weekend series in Boston, but it wasn't immediately clear which day he would pitch. With the White Sox now listing Dylan Covey and Reynaldo Lopez as their probable starters for Friday and Sunday, respectively, it appears safe to conclude that Rodon will be on the rubber for the middle contest of the three-game set. Rodon will likely oppose David Price in the matchup and shouldn't face any restrictions.

Triston McKenzie SP | SD
Indians' Triston McKenzie: Reinstated from disabled list
McKenzie (forearm) was activated from the disabled list prior to his scheduled start for Double-A Akron on Thursday.
McKenzie has been sidelined for the entirety of the 2018 season up to this point but he will make his debut at the Double-A level against New Hampshire after a phenomenal season with High-A Lynchburg last year. Look for the club to monitor his pitch count in the coming weeks as the 20-year-old gets his first taste of action in the second-highest rung of the minor-league ladder.

Juan Nicasio SP | TEX
Mariners' Juan Nicasio: Takes third loss of season
Nicasio (1-3) failed to record an out in Wednesday's loss to the Astros while allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits.
Nicasio was charged with both his third loss and third blown save of the season as a result of a disastrous seventh inning. Tasked with protecting a newly minted 4-3 lead, the veteran reliever allowed all four runners he faced to reach safely, with the latter two -- Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve -- knocking in runs with an infield single and single, respectively. The clunker snapped an eight-appearance scoreless streak for Nicasio, who'd appeared to be back on track after a rough first half of May.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Strikes out seven but takes loss Wednesday
Odorizzi (3-3) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts through five innings in a loss Wednesday against the White Sox.
Odorizzi was nasty through five innings, as he had held the White Sox to just one run and induced 14 swinging strikes en route to his fifth start of the season with at least seven strikeouts. But Odorizzi opened the sixth by allowing consecutive singles, the second being an infield single by Jose Abreu. That poor luck combined with a horrid relief appearance by Ryan Pressly -- who allowed two singles, an RBI squeeze bunt and a wild pitch before completing the inning -- left Odorizzi as the loser despite the excellent beginning to his night. Odorizzi will take a 4.24 ERA into his next appearance Tuesday against Detroit.

Eduardo Rodriguez SP | ARI
Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Wins fourth straight Wednesday
Rodriguez (7-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 7-1 victory over the Tigers, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over 5.2 innings while striking out five.
The left-hander fell one out shy of his fifth quality start of the season, throwing 67 of 107 pitches for strikes en route to his fourth straight win. Rodriguez will take a 3.68 ERA into his next outing Monday in Baltimore.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Fans 10 in bounce-back win
Carrasco (7-4) picked up the win Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing just one run on eight hits and one walk through seven innings. He struck out 10.
It was a nice bounce-back effort from Carrasco, who was tagged for six runs through just 3.2 innings in his previous start. The 31-year-old tossed 71 of his 109 pitches for strikes, racking up double-digit strikeouts for just the second time this season. Hopefully this will help get Carrasco back on track, as the right-hander compiled a brutal 6.37 ERA across his previous seven starts heading into Wednesday. Next up is a road start against the White Sox.
