  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Pitches as reliever Wednesday

Rodriguez struck out two in an inning of relief in Wednesday's 3-0 loss to the Blue Jays.

Rodriguez, who had been away from the team on paternity leave, returned Wednesday and what amounted to his normal between-starts side session. He's on schedule to start Sunday in Baltimore.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Fans seven in Wednesday's win

Keuchel (3-0) allowed only one run on eight hits and a walk while striking out seven over seven innings in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Angels.

It was vintage Keuchel, as he threw 65 of 99 pitches for strikes and induced three double plays to snuff out any offensive momentum the Angels built. The lefty now has a 0.96 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 22:6 K:BB through 28 innings and will look to extend his quality start streak to five Tuesday in Cleveland.

  • JC Ramirez SP | LAA

Angels' JC Ramirez: Fans nine in Wednesday's loss

Ramirez (2-2) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk while striking out nine over 5.1 innings during Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Astros.

He threw 53 of his career-high 83 pitches for strikes, while the nine strikeouts were also a personal best. The 28-year-old will take the hill again Tuesday at home against the A's, assuming Alex Meyer doesn't bump Ramirez to the bullpen right away upon his return.

  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Rangers' Martin Perez: Can't escape fourth inning Wednesday

Perez (1-2) gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk over 3.2 innings in Wednesday's loss to Oakland.

After posting a 2.20 ERA despite an atrocious 1.78 WHIP over his first three starts, Perez was due for a course correction. He's seen his strikeout rate rise a bit this year, but Perez's already poor walk rate has gotten significantly worse, and he remains quite hittable. Even if you pick your spots, you're taking a risk by using him.

  • Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Start moved to Saturday

Mejia will make his next start Saturday, Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports.

Mejia had his scheduled start rained out Wednesday, and although there was a possibility that his start would be skipped altogether, it appears he'll slide into the rotation in Phil Hughes' spot, pushing Hughes' next start back to Monday. The 23-year-old is coming off a nice outing against the White Sox, tossing five innings of one-run ball while striking out four. He'll look to build on that performance against the Tigers on Saturday.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Start pushed back to Friday

Due to Wednesday's matchup with the Twins being postponed, Kluber will have his next start pushed back to Friday against the White Sox, Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com reports.

Owners should never be tempted to sit an ace like Kluber, but the rescheduled matchup certainly isn't as friendly for the right-hander. The 31-year-old's splits against the Twins are noticeably better than his numbers against the White Sox. Furthermore, the south-siders have been a tougher out than the guys from the Twin Cities so far in 2017. That said, Kluber is one of those special "set it and forget it" players, so deploy the Cy Young winner confidence.

  • Alex Meyer SP | LAA

Angels' Alex Meyer: To make spot start Friday

Meyer will be called up from Triple-A Salt Lake to make a spot start Friday against the Blue Jays, the Los Angeles Times' Pedro Moura reports.

The Angels are saying that Meyer is simply getting a start to give everyone else in the rotation an extra day of rest, but if he were to pitch well, it seems like he could bump JC Ramirez from the rotation. Meyer had a 4.80 ERA and 1.60 WHIP at Triple-A, but his 3.21 FIP and 18:5 K:BB in 15 innings tell a slightly different story. He has plenty of strikeout potential, but has yet to prove he can be efficient enough to be a reliable big-league starter.

  • Alec Asher SP | MIL

Orioles' Alec Asher: Option to start this weekend

Asher is in the Orioles' bullpen Wednesday and is an option to start Friday or Saturday against the Red Sox, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.

It seems likely that if the Orioles can get by without using Asher out of the bullpen Wednesday or Thursday, they will. In that case, he would likely start Friday or Saturday, depending on whether the Orioles want to give Dylan Bundy an extra day of rest. Jayson Aquino, who was called up from Triple-A on Wednesday, is the likely long reliever for Wednesday and Thursday.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Available for four relief innings Wednesday

Rodriguez will be available for as many as four innings out of the bullpen Wednesday against the Blue Jays, WEEI.com's Rob Bradford reports.

He appears poised to piggyback Rick Porcello's start, and if both pitchers pitch fairly well, they may be the only two arms the Red Sox turn to, which could give Rodriguez a chance at a win or a save. Make sure he is in the lineup in leagues with daily transactions even though he is not getting the start. Rodriguez is still scheduled to start Sunday in Baltimore after missing Tuesday's start due to the birth of his child.

  • Rob Kaminsky RP | STL

Indians' Rob Kaminsky: Placed on 7-day DL

Kaminsky landed on the 7-day disabled list Wednesday with left forearm soreness.

Acquired from the Cardinals in 2015 as part of the Brandon Moss trade, Kaminsky has seen his prospect star diminish quite a bit after posting underwhelming strikeout rates the last one and a half seasons in the Indians organization. The forearm injury won't help Kaminsky's case for making his way to the big leagues anytime soon, even it proves to be only a short-term setback. Kaminsky made one start with Double-A Akron prior to hitting the DL, conceding five runs on six hits and two walks over five innings.
