  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

White Sox's Chris Sale: To return Thursday vs. Cubs

Sale (suspension) will return to start Thursday's matchup with the Cubs, Scot Gregor of the Daily Herald reports.

Sale was hit with a five-game ban over the weekend for insubordination and destroying team equipment in an incident stemming from his displeasure with the White Sox's throwback uniforms. He'll return when first eligible Thursday for the last of four meetings between the crosstown rivals.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Will be used as reliever

Severino, who was recalled by the Yankees on Monday, will pitch out of the bullpen, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.

With Aroldis Chapman getting dealt to the Cubs on Monday, the Yankees could use another shutdown reliever, and Severino should fit the bill. He posted a 3.25 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with 57 strikeouts in 63.2 innings at Triple-A after getting bumped from the big league rotation earlier in the year, and his stuff should really play up in short bursts out of the bullpen. Of course, he could be transitioned back to the rotation if the Yankees have a need, but for now it seems he will only reliably provide fantasy owners with strikeouts and ratios.

  • Luis Severino SP | ATH

Yankees' Luis Severino: Recalled from Triple-A

Severino was recalled from Triple-A Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday, Shane Hennigan of the Scranton Times-Tribune reports.

Severino struggled in seven starts for the Yankees earlier in the season, amassing an ugly 7.46 ERA and 1.69 WHIP across 35.0 cumulative innings. The 22-year-old has turned things around at Triple-A, however, posting a 3.25 ERA and 7-1 record in 10 starts. It's unclear exactly how the Yankees will use Severino, but it appears as though he'll be utilized in a relief role initially.

  • Vance Worley SP | NYM

Orioles' Vance Worley: Quality start in Sunday's no-decision

Worley (2-1) gave up two runs on five hits and three walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out three, but came away with a no-decision in a 5-3 win over the Indians.

He threw 66 of 102 pitches for strikes in his longest outing of the year, and while Worley wasn't exactly fooling anybody (generating just five swinging strikes), he was in line for the win before Brad Brach gave up an unearned run in the eighth inning to tie the score 3-3. This performance was probably good enough to keep Worley in the rotation for another turn, but if so, he'll face a stiff test Friday in Toronto.

  • Corey Kluber SP | BOS

Indians' Corey Kluber: Looks strong in no-decision Sunday

Kluber (9-8) gave up three runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings Sunday while striking out eight, but came away with a no-decision in a 5-3 loss to the Orioles.

He was in line for the loss before Cleveland scored a run in eighth inning to tie it, only for Cody Allen to serve up a walkoff homer in the bottom of the ninth. Kluber showed no ill effects from the calf cramping that ended his last start, throwing 67 of 101 pitches for strikes and generating an impressive 20 swinging strikes. He should be safe to use next Sunday, when the Indians host the A's.

  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Twins' Tommy Milone: Surrenders three homers in Sunday's loss

Milone (3-3) gave up eight runs (four earned) on 10 hits, including three home runs, in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox. He struck out four without walking a batter.

While a Miguel Sano error in the fifth inning saved some damage to his ERA, Milone's inability to keep the ball away from the middle of the plate is what really doomed him. On the bright side, it was the first time this year he's avoided walking a batter in a start. He'll next take the mound Saturday at home against the White Sox.

  • Wade Miley SP | CIN

Mariners' Wade Miley: Takes loss despite quality start Sunday

Miley (6-8) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over six innings Sunday while striking out four in a 2-0 loss to the Blue Jays.

He really made only one mistake all game, but unfortunately Edwin Encarnacion deposited it in the center-field seats. It was Miley's third quality start in four July outings, but his ERA on the month is still a pedestrian 4.07. It won't get any easier for Miley his next time out, either, as he'll face Jake Arrieta and the Cubs in Wrigley Field on Saturday.

  • Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX

Yankees' Nathan Eovaldi: Picks up ninth win Sunday

Eovaldi (9-6) allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks over 6.2 innings Sunday while striking out six in a win over the Giants.

He's now put together two consecutive solid starts since returning to the Yankees' rotation, giving up just three runs in 12 innings with a 7:4 K:BB. Eovaldi's also kept the ball in the park during those two starts and hasn't allowed a long ball in five straight appearances, a massive improvement on the 1.9 HR/9 rate he held prior to that stretch. If he can continue to avoid serving up homers, he could be in line for a strong finish to the season.

  • Alex Cobb SP | DET

Rays' Alex Cobb: Scheduled for bullpen session Tuesday

Cobb (elbow), who reportedly "felt good" after throwing a two-inning batting practice session Saturday, will throw another bullpen session Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The session will serve as a litmus test of sorts for Cobb, with a determination on whether he's ready to return to pitching in minor league games expected soon thereafter. The 28-year-old was temporarily taken off any rehab appearances after a pair of rough outings and has instead been working in bullpen sessions with the goal of building up his stamina and improving his mechanics.

  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Rays' Blake Snell: Quality start versus Athletics

Snell allowed just two runs with four strikeouts and two walks across 6.2 innings in Sunday's start versus the Athletics. He did not factor into the decision.

The rookie got off to a bumpy start by allowing two runs on four hits with just one out in the first inning, but he settled down and allowed just five baserunners over the next six frames. Snell has now delievered three consecutive quality starts, yielding just four runs in 18.2 innings in that span, and he has lowered his season ERA to 3.06 after an inauspicious start. He is showcasing the skills that made him a highly-regarded prospect heading into the year and will have the opportunity to build on his recent success next Sunday against the Yankees.
