Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Quality start versus Athletics
Snell allowed just two runs with four strikeouts and two walks across 6.2 innings in Sunday's start versus the Athletics. He did not factor into the decision.
The rookie got off to a bumpy start by allowing two runs on four hits with just one out in the first inning, but he settled down and allowed just five baserunners over the next six frames. Snell has now delievered three consecutive quality starts, yielding just four runs in 18.2 innings in that span, and he has lowered his season ERA to 3.06 after an inauspicious start. He is showcasing the skills that made him a highly-regarded prospect heading into the year and will have the opportunity to build on his recent success next Sunday against the Yankees.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
White Sox's Jose Quintana: Fires 6.2 shutout innings in no decision Sunday
Quintana (8-8) fired 6.2 scoreless innings on three hits and one walk while striking out four, but he received no decision Sunday against the Tigers.
Quintana was staked to a four-run lead in the second inning and silenced the Tigers bats until being lifted from the contest after 117 pitches. Unfortunately, David Robertson blew a three-run lead in the ninth inning to keep the lefty from earning his ninth win of the year. Quintana has now held opponents to one or fewer runs in three of his last four starts to lower his ERA to 2.97. He'll make his next start Friday at the Twins.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: To make first rehab start Monday
Rodon (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Charlotte.
Rodon has been throwing side sessions and facing hitters in recent days without issue, so he'll move on to the next phase of the rehab process. While he's already missed more the than minimum 15 days, it's possible he'll need only one rehab start before the White Sox feel comfortable activating him from the DL.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
White Sox's Chris Sale: Gets team-imposed five-game suspension
The White Sox announced that Sale would serve a five-game suspension stemming from a clubhouse incident prior to Saturday's game against the Tigers. "Chris has been suspended for violating team rules, for insubordination and for destroying team equipment," GM Rick Hahn said in the team's official statement. "While we all appreciate Chris' talent and passion, there is a correct way and an incorrect way to express concerns about team rules and organizational expectations."
Sale's insubordinate behavior was reportedly related to his dissatisfaction with the throwback jerseys the White Sox were scheduled to wear for Saturday's game. The left-hander felt the jersey made him uncomfortable while pitching, and he demonstrated his disdain for the apparel by destroying multiple jerseys with a knife during the White Sox's scheduled batting practice. Sale's actions prompted the team to scratch him from his scheduled start and send him home for the day, and as of Sunday, he still has yet to rejoin the team, according to Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago. Manager Robin Ventura wouldn't comment on the specifics of Saturday's incident, but did say he was optimistic about Sale and the organization making amends. Sale's five-game suspension will be retroactive to Saturday, so he's expected to be back in time to make his next turn in the rotation Thursday against the Cubs. The White Sox recalled Anthony Ranaudo from Triple-A Charlotte to take Sale's spot on the roster while he's under suspension, but Ranaudo will presumably head back to the minors once Sale is activated prior to Thursday's game.

Corey Kluber SP | BOS
Indians' Corey Kluber: Good to go for Sunday start
Kluber (calf) is listed in the lineup as the Indians' starting pitcher Sunday against the Orioles, MLB.com's Jordan Bastian reports.
Kluber exited his previous start on July 18 with cramping in his right calf, but he was never in serious peril of missing his next turn in the rotation because of it. He should face no pitch limits in Sunday's outing, though he'll make for a risky DFS pick due to the matchup with the majors' fifth-best offense, in terms of wRC+.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
White Sox's Chris Sale: In line to make next start Thursday
Sale is listed as the White Sox's probable starting pitcher for Thursday's game against the Cubs, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Sale had been scheduled to start this past Saturday against the Tigers, but was scratched hours before game time due to what the White Sox deemed as a "non-physical clubhouse incident." It was later revealed that Sale had taken issue with the throwback uniforms the White Sox were set to wear for Saturday's game, and his dissatisfaction boiled over to the point that management decided it was best to send him home for the day. It's likely that the White Sox will address the Sale situation in-house within the next few days, but assuming that both the pitcher and the team are able to patch things up, he should be back on the mound for one final audition for potential suitors before the Aug. 1 non-waiver trade deadline.

Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI
Twins' Ricky Nolasco: Chased early in Saturday no-decision
Nolasco didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 11-9 victory over the Red Sox, giving up six earned runs on six hits and three walks over two innings. He struck out two.
The veteran righty simply didn't have it Saturday, throwing a whopping 65 pitches over his two frames and getting touched up for four runs in the second inning alone on a Dustin Pedroia ground-rule double and a three-run shot by Hanley Ramirez. The outing was Nolasco's shortest of the season, and the six earned runs equaled his second-highest total in that category in 2016. The 33-year-old has given up 13 runs (12 earned) over three of his last four starts, and has surrendered at least one homer in six of his last seven trips to the mound. He'll look to bounce back when he takes on the White Sox next Friday.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Orioles' Kevin Gausman: Throws seven scoreless frames for second victory
Gausman (2-7) fired seven scoreless innings in Saturday's 5-2 victory over the Indians, giving up only four hits and three walks. He struck out seven.
Gausman, who's been a tough-luck loser on more than one occasion this season, assured himself a victory by shutting out a dangerous Indians lineup over seven strong frames. The right-hander threw 74 of 116 pitches for strikes, and induced 15 swinging strikes overall. The 25-year-old has now given up only two earned runs over the 13.2 innings encompassing his last two starts, and has recorded 13 whiffs over that span. He'll look to keep the momentum going against the Twins next Thursday.

Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Rays' Drew Smyly: Six innings of one-run ball
Smyly tossed six innings of one-run ball Saturday versus Oakland, striking out one and walking one en route to a no-decision.
The left-hander allowed a run in the first inning after putting three men on base, but he settled down and cruised for five more frames, needing just 88 total pitches to do so. Smyly broke a brutal streak of four consecutive losses during which he had an inflated ERA of 9.14, and he nearly won his first game in over two months, but Alex Colome imploded in the ninth inning and lost the game. Smyly will have the opportunity to build on Saturday's quality start next Saturday at home against the Yankees.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Rangers' Cole Hamels: Earns 11th win of 2016 on Saturday
Hamels (11-2) allowed one unearned run on five hits and three walks while striking out four over 5.1 innings to earn the win Saturday at the Royals.
Despite struggling with control issues, Hamels left the contest with a two-run lead before the Rangers' offense was able to put away the game in the latter innings. He's now held opponents to one or fewer earned runs in six of his last eight starts, and he boasts a 2.87 ERA in 2016. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Royals.
