Schlittler (9-6) took the loss in Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader, allowing three runs on six hits, no walks and a hit batsman over 4.1 innings against the Dodgers. He struck out eight.

Schlittler generated a game-high 20 whiffs and recorded eight strikeouts, but the Dodgers were able to string together hits and chase the right-hander after 98 pitches (69 strikes) before he could complete five frames. After uncharacteristically issuing four walks in his last start July 11 against the Nationals before the All-Star break, the 25-year-old didn't hand out a free pass Sunday, marking the ninth time he has done so in 2026. Schlittler will take a stellar 2.20 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 145:25 K:BB across 123 innings (21 starts) into his next outing, which is tentatively scheduled for Friday against the Phillies.

Yesavage (4-5) took the loss Sunday against the White Sox, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out nine.

Yesavage overpowered the Chicago bats at times, generating a whopping 21 whiffs on the afternoon, and he hung on for a quality start after the White Sox plated a pair of runs in the sixth inning. The nine punchouts were a season high for the right-hander, who has now logged three quality starts in his past four outings. Yesavage has been wild occasionally, walking at least five in four of his last nine appearances, but he's still maintained a healthy 3.78 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 78:41 K:BB over 81 innings this year.

Burke (7-4) notched the win Sunday against Toronto, allowing no runs on two hits and one walk in 6.2 innings. He struck out five.

Burke was dominant Sunday, scattering two singles across 6.2 shutout innings. The 26-year-old right-hander is on an excellent run on the mound, tossing at least 5.1 frames while yielding two runs or fewer in six consecutive starts and posting a sterling 47:6 K:BB during that span. Burke will take a strong 3.20 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 120:34 K:BB over 112.1 innings into his next scheduled outing against Houston.

Triple-A Charlotte reinstated Smith (shoulder) from its 7-day injured list Sunday.

The 22-year-old lefty will rejoin the Triple-A club after a five-week stint on the shelf due to a left shoulder impingement. Over 15 starts with Charlotte this season, Smith has submitted a 4.58 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 84:37 K:BB across 57 frames.

Cantillo (8-5) took the loss against the Pirates on Sunday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks with seven strikeouts over five innings.

Cantillo entered the sixth inning aiming for a potential quality start but allowed back-to-back doubles to open the frame and was charged with two runs without recording an out. It ended a run of six straight outings in which the 26-year-old allowed two earned runs or fewer, though he still generated a whopping 17 swinging strikes on 80 pitches. He'll take a 3.74 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 112:52 K:BB across 106 innings this season into a road matchup with the Rays next weekend.

Mize exited Sunday's start against the Angels in fourth inning after being struck in the left hand by a comebacker, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Mize entered the bottom of the fourth inning having tossed three innings of one-run ball before he took a 108.8 mph ground ball from Jo Adell off his glove hand to open the frame. The right-hander was able to finish the play, throwing out Adell at first base, but Mize was then forced to exit the game. He was already up to 74 pitches on the day, and it's possible that his removal was simply precautionary. More information on the status of Mize moving forward will likely come in the near future.

The Yankees recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of the second game of Sunday's doubleheader versus the Dodgers.

Appointed as the Yankees' 27th man for the twin bill, Rodriguez appears set to make his first appearance as a reliever after he worked as a starter in his prior four big-league outings. Lefty Ryan Yarbrough is opening the game for the Yankees, but he hasn't worked more than three innings in any appearance this season and will likely be in line for an abbreviated start before the Yankees turn the game over to Rodriguez and their other relief arms. Over his first 17 big-league innings, Rodriguez has pitched to a 4.76 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 10:11 K:BB.

Scherzer (back/thumb) threw a bullpen session Sunday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

The 41-year-old had his rehab assignment paused last week in order to get three cortisone injections in his right thumb, but he wasn't shut down from throwing for long. Scherzer originally landed on the IL in mid-June due to back spasms, but he's now received cortisone injections for both his side and thumb while on the shelf. The Blue Jays hoped that the right-hander's quick return to throwing will allow him to resume the rehab assignment in the near future.

The Royals reinstated Kolek (personal) from the family medical leave list and placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a right flexor strain.

The right-hander has spent most of the past few weeks on the paternity and family medical emergency list, and he appeared close to rejoining the Royals when he began a rehab assignment Saturday. Kolek presumably sustained the injury in his start with Triple-A Omaha, during which he surrendered two earned runs on six hits with a 3:0 K:BB over 2.2 innings. The Royals haven't provided a timeline for the 29-year-old to return from the forearm injury.

Rodon (elbow) received a second round of injections after throwing about 10 pitches off a mound Friday and could progress to a full bullpen session this week, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Friday's round of shots appears to have been a scheduled part of his rehab program as he continues to work his way back from left elbow inflammation, which sent him to the injured list in late June. The 33-year-old is without an official timeline for his return, but it seems as though he could be back during the first half of August if he continues to progress with no setbacks.
