Triple-A Toledo placed Manning on its 7-day injured list Friday due to a right lat strain.

Manning has been with Toledo since late May after making five starts with the Tigers early in the season. The 26-year-old had turned in a 4.53 ERA across 59.2 innings with Toledo and looked to be a candidate to step in as the Tigers' No. 5 starter coming out of the All-Star break with Casey Mize (hamstring) on the injured list, but the lat strain will remove Manning from consideration for a call-up.

DeGrom (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday and mixed in some sliders, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Friday marked deGrom's third bullpen session, but previously he had been limited to fastballs and changeups. It's unclear when the 35-year-old will come off the IL, but considering he'll likely need multiple rehab appearances, deGrom shouldn't be expected to make his season debut until some time in August.

Bradford (ribs) reported to the Rangers' Arizona Complex League affiliate Friday to begin a rehab assignment, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The left-hander has been sidelined by a lower-back strain and stress fracture in his rib since mid-April but has now been cleared for game action. Manager Bruce Bochy said in early July that Bradford was likely to rejoin the Rangers as a reliever, so he may not require a lengthy rehab assignment.

Mahle (elbow) is scheduled to make a rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Mahle has bounced around during his minor-league rehab assignment, making appearances with Round Rock, Double-A Frisco and the Rangers' Arizona Complex League affiliate. He'll return to Round Rock for his fourth outing after completing 2.2 innings in his previous start. Mahle's recovery from Tommy John surgery is close to complete, and he could be back with the Rangers in early August.

Schmidt (lat) is expected to throw around 20 pitches off a mound Saturday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Schmidt hasn't thrown off a mound since being placed on the injured list May 30, making Saturday's session a significant step in his recovery from a strained right lat. The 28-year-old will likely need to complete a few more bullpen sessions before being sent out on a rehab assignment. He seems to still be a few weeks away from activation, and with Gerrit Cole back, there may not be a spot in the Yankees' rotation available for Schmidt once he's healthy.

Santos gave up one unearned run on two hits and a walk while striking out seven over five innings in his most recent start for Double-A Frisco on July 5.

Santos gave up five earned runs in his first Double-A start June 28, but he righted the ship in his second start for the RoughRiders. He also tossed a scoreless inning in the Futures Game, giving up a hit while striking out a batter and walking one. Santos leaned on a mid-90s four-seam fastball, a slider and a cutter during the Futures Game, and he has reportedly thrown a changeup in the past. The 6-foot righty logged a 2.80 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 81 strikeouts in 64.1 innings over 12 starts for High-A Hickory before getting promoted to Double-A on June 25.

Mize (hamstring) has been ruled out through the Tigers' upcoming road trip which ends July 25, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Mize has been sidelined for all of July with a strained left hamstring. Manager A.J. Hinch said recently that the hope is the hurler will be ready to throw off a mound soon, and the skipper also indicated Mize will need to make at least one rehab start before being activated. The Tigers play 12 straight games coming out of the All-Star break before a day off July 31, so the team will need to add a fifth starter soon, with Matt Manning being the most likely candidate to fill in for Mize.

Astros general manager Dana Brown said in an interview Thursday on "The Sean Salisbury Show" that Garcia (elbow) will resume throwing off the mound in a couple days, Michael Schwab of The Juice Box Journal reports.

Garcia was pulled off his rehab assignment after not responding well during his most recent rehab start July 4, but he was never shut down from throwing and is almost ready to get back on the bump. The right-hander is making his way back from Tommy John surgery, and once he's cleared to resume his rehab assignment, he'll likely need multiple starts in the minors before becoming an option for the Astros rotation.

Cannon is scheduled to start Saturday's game against the Royals in Kansas City, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

In his final appearance before the All-Star break last Friday versus the Pirates, Cannon worked out of the bullpen as a piggyback pitcher behind starter Garrett Crochet, tossing six innings while allowing four earned runs. Cannon will now take back a rotation spot in the White Sox's opening series of the second half, as he'll be picking up his ninth start of the season Friday. The White Sox have already confirmed Cannon for another start for next Thursday in Texas, but it's unclear if he'll stick around in the rotation thereafter.

Mahle (elbow) struck out five and allowed one hit and one walk over 2.2 scoreless innings during his rehab start Monday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Mahle had made his previous two rehab starts at Double-A Frisco, but he shifted his assignment to the ACL this week while all of the Rangers' full-season affiliates are off due to the All-Star break. The right-hander has looked strong thus far in his first three minor-league outings coming back from his May 2023 Tommy John surgery. He has yet to let in a run over 6.2 innings and built his pitch count up to 45 on Monday. Mahle will likely shift his assignment back to a higher-level affiliate over the weekend and will presumably need at least two or three more minor-league outings to get fully stretched out before he becomes a realistic option for the Rangers' rotation.
