Peterson (3-1) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in four-plus innings, taking the loss Wednesday versus the Brewers.

Peterson got through four innings in relatively good shape, but he didn't have anything left in the fifth as the Brewers built up a seven-run rally. He was only responsible for the first of those runs, limiting the damage on his line as reliever Jake Reed struggled even more behind him. Peterson now has a 3.60 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 35:20 K:BB across 40 innings in nine appearances (seven starts). The 26-year-old still has a tenuous grasp on a spot in the rotation, though he should get another turn at home versus the Marlins next week. He's the most likely candidate to move to the bullpen once Max Scherzer (oblique) is ready to return.

Gallen allowed two earned runs on two hits with five strikeouts and no walks across seven innings Wednesday against the Reds. He did not factor into the decision.

Gallen stumbled through the second inning, hitting two batters with a pitch and also throwing away a pickoff attempt. That led to both of his earned runs, though he was sharp otherwise. It was a needed outing for Gallen, as he entered the game with a 6.75 ERA across his last four starts. He now owns a 2.91 ERA with a 60:16 K:BB across 65 frames on the campaign.

Burnes (4-4) allowed two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out eight in six innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Mets.

Burnes was shaky in losing his first two starts in June, but he bounced back Wednesday. He had the most trouble with Jeff McNeil, who delivered a solo home run and an RBI single to account for both of the Mets' runs. Despite the recent struggles, Burnes still owns a 2.52 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 100:17 K:BB across 78.2 innings in 13 starts. He's projected for a home start versus the division-rival Cardinals next week -- in his only start against them in 2022, he pitched seven innings of two-hit ball for what was his best performance yet this season.

Castillo allowed three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six across seven innings Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. He did not factor into the decision.

Castillo allowed all three of his runs in the second inning, two of which came on a home run by Geraldo Perdomo. He kept Arizona in check otherwise by recording 17 of his 21 outs via either strikeout or groundout. Castillo has allowed three or fewer earned runs in each of his eight starts this season, and he now owns a 3.33 ERA and 43:15 K:BB across 36 innings.

Heaney (shoulder) is traveling to join the Dodgers and is a candidate to start Sunday against the Guardians in Los Angeles, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Heaney struck out nine over five scoreless innings for Double-A Tulsa during his third rehab start Tuesday, and there's a strong chance his next outing comes in the majors. Assuming he starts Sunday, the 31-year-old could face some workload limitations in his first start back from the injured list.

Stroman (shoulder) hasn't yet resumed throwing, Joey Pollizze of MLB.com reports.

Stroman has been sidelined for a week due to right shoulder inflammation, and he's been shut down over the last few days while resting his injury. A timetable for the right-hander's return is unlikely to be revealed until he resumes throwing, but it seems possible that he'll require more than the minimum of 15 days on the injured list.

Manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that Peralta (lat) has resumed throwing, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Peralta has been working out at the Brewers' extended spring training facility in Arizona over the last several days, but it's encouraging that he's now playing catch. The right-hander still faces a lengthy recovery process, as he was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday and will be ineligible to return until at least late July.

Woodruff (hand) will make a rehab start Saturday at Triple-A Nashville, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The right-hander has been cleared to return to game action after throwing a 40-pitch bullpen session Tuesday. Woodruff has been on the injured list since May 30, and it's possible that he'll be able to rejoin the Brewers following a single rehab start.

Gray is scheduled to make his next start in Saturday's home game against the Phillies, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Gray was lined up to make two starts at the beginning of the week, but he was ultimately scratched from his scheduled outing Monday against Atlanta since the Nationals didn't want to have him warm up a second time following a 90-minute rain delay. Rather than having Gray pitch a couple days later, the Nationals elected to skip his turn in the rotation entirely. Gray will take a 6-4 record, 4.33 ERA and 1.32 WHIP into his 13th start of the season this weekend.

Liberatore was returned to Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

Liberatore made his fourth career major-league start during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Pirates, and he allowed three hits and two walks while striking out five in five scoreless innings to earn the win over Pittsburgh. However, the left-hander served as the 27th man during the twin bill and will head back to the minors after Jack Flaherty (shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.
