Morton (14-6) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out 10 across seven shutout innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Phillies.

Morton dominated the Phillies, generating 16 swinging strikes to record his second double-digit strikeout effort of the season. He has been the model of consistency since the All-Star break, as he's worked at least six innings in 11 of his 14 outings and surrendered three or fewer earned runs in all but one of those appearances. The 37-year-old has had an impressive 2021 campaign, maintaining a 3.39 ERA with a 213:58 K:BB across 183 innings.

Wheeler (14-10) allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out seven across seven innings to take the loss Tuesday against Atlanta.

Wheeler did little wrong in the outing, as the lone runs charged to him came in the second inning on a two-run single by Jorge Soler. He dominated Atlanta otherwise, inducing 11 groundouts and generating 11 swinging strikes on 93 total pitches. Though the outing ended a four-start stretch in which Wheeler allowed one or fewer earned runs, he has still maintained a 1.47 ERA across his last five appearances while striking out 39 across 30.2 frames. Wheeler has also been excellent throughout the season, maintaining a 2.78 ERA with a 247:46 K:BB across 213.1 innings.

Corbin (9-16) got the loss Tuesday versus the Rockies after giving up two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out nine over six innings.

The left-hander allowed one run to score in the fourth inning before surrendering a solo home run to Trevor Story in the fifth. It was his second consecutive quality start and fourth in his last five outings. He struck out a season-high nine batters. He isn't expected to make another start in 2021, finishing 9-16 with a career-worst 5.82 ERA over 31 starts.

Freeland (7-8) picked up the win Tuesday against the Nationals after pitching 6.2 innings and giving up one run. He allowed six hits and walked four while striking out three.

The 28-year-old tossed six scoreless innings before surrendering a bases-loaded walk to Lane Thomas in the seventh inning, driving in Yadiel Hernandez for the only run against him in the contest. He has now notched three consecutive quality starts, posting a 1.93 ERA and 2-0 record over those outings. Freeland is not expected to make another start before the regular season ends Sunday, so he finishes his year with seven wins, a 4.33 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 105 strikeouts in 120.2 innings.

Manager Jayce Tingler said Darvish's start against the Dodgers on Tuesday is likely to be his final outing of the season, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Darvish lines up to start the final game of the season on regular rest Sunday at San Francisco, but it appears the Padres will give him some extra rest to finish the season since they're already eliminated from the playoffs. Darvish has a 6.48 ERA across 25 frames in September, and he'll close out 2021 with a tough matchup against the Dodgers.

Manager Mike Shildt said that Flaherty will be available out of the bullpen during Tuesday's game against the Brewers, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.

Flaherty allowed two runs in just one-third of an inning while serving as the opener in his return to the mound Friday. While he'll be available out of the bullpen beginning Tuesday, the skipper emphasized that Flaherty's role remains fluid. With that in mind, it still seems possible that Flaherty will be able to build up to start a game in the postseason should the opportunity present itself.

The Pirates will call up Contreras from Triple-A Indianapolis to start Wednesday against the Cubs, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The move was rumored earlier in the day Tuesday but has since been confirmed. The 21-year-old has had an impressive season in the upper minors, striking out 35 percent of opposing batters and walking just 5.6 percent en route to a 2.64 ERA, though just one of his 13 starts came at the Triple-A level.

Overton was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right shoulder strain Tuesday, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Overton started Monday's game against the Reds and gave up four runs on six hits while striking out two in one inning to take the loss. However, he apparently sustained a shoulder injury that will force him to miss the remainder of the season. The right-hander had lined up to serve as the opener during a game in the Pirates' weekend series against Cincinnati, and it's not yet clear who will start in his place. Overton made nine appearances (three starts) with the Blue Jays and Pirates this year and recorded a 4.70 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 15.1 innings.

Miley (neck) won't return during the regular season, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Miley was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained neck last week and would have been eligible to return during the Reds' final series of the regular season, but manager David Bell ruled the southpaw out for the year with the team on the brink of elimination. He made 28 starts during his age-34 season and recorded a 3.37 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 163 innings.

DeGrom (elbow) will not pitch again this season, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

DeGrom reportedly hasn't suffered a setback, as he felt fine following a side session Monday. Manager Luis Rojas indicated that deGrom would return if they Mets still had anything to play for, but since that's no longer the case, the team decided there wasn't any reason to risk anything with their ace. Given that he's effectively healthy at this point, deGrom should be in line for a relatively normal offseason.
