Gonsolin (shoulder) allowed a run on two hits and five walks with four strikeouts in 1.2 innings versus Pittsburgh on Wednesday. He did not factor in the decision.

Gonsolin was expected to be on a workload limit, but he made life difficult for himself by throwing only 33 of his 66 pitches for strikes in the abbreviated outing. He also allowed an RBI single to Gregory Polanco, which was Pittsburgh's only run in the contest. Gonsolin will likely remain on a pitch count for a bit longer. He'll look to improve his command in his next start, tentatively scheduled for next week versus Philadelphia.

Gomber (5-5) allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks while striking out five across five innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Marlins.

Gomber's lone run allowed came in the fifth inning, when he surrendered a pair of singles. He was strong otherwise, primarily based on his ability to keep the ball on the ground. Gomber has now allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his last six starts, and he has worked at least five innings in all but one of those outings. For the season, he now has a 3.95 ERA with a 71:23 K:BB across 68.1 frames.

Gutierrez (2-1) allowed two earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven across seven innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Brewers.

This was the deepest that Gutierrez has worked into any of his three big-league starts and it was also his most impressive from a skills perspective. After striking out three batters in both of his first two starts, he racked up seven punchouts backed by 13 swinging strikes on 102 total pitches. He further limited the damage by generating eight groundouts and holding the Brewers to just one extra-base hit. With both Sonny Gray (groin) and Jeff Hoffman (shoulder) sidelined, Gutierrez should have a chance to stick in the rotation for the time being.

Darvish (6-2) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Cubs despite giving up just two runs on three hits and two walks while fanning eight across seven innings.

Darvish looked excellent on the mound and notched his eighth quality start of the campaign, but that wasn't enough to extend his undefeated streak to nine appearances due to the lack of run support. Darvish has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the National League this season, however, and he improved his ERA to a blistering 2.28 over 79 innings across 13 starts. His next start should be a tough one, however, as he lines up to face the Rockies on the road next week.

Gray (groin) will miss at least two starts as he recovers from a right groin strain, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Cincinnati will be without one of its more consistent starters for no fewer than two turns through the rotation. Riley O'Brien is expected to fill Gray's spot until he's ready to return.

Manager Luis Rojas said Wednesday that Carrasco (hamstring) is no longer throwing off a mound, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Rojas said that Carrasco hasn't suffered a setback, but the right-hander is working on regaining his strength in his hamstring before he ramps up his intensity. The 34-year-old remains without a timetable to return, but a better idea of his status could come into focus once he's able to get back on the mound.

Strasburg (neck) hasn't yet resumed throwing, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Strasburg has been on the 10-day injured list with a neck strain since June 2, but he's been limited to lower-body workouts during the first week of his recovery process. Manager Dave Martinez said Wednesday that he wants the right-hander's nerve irritation to subside before he resumes throwing. A better idea of Strasburg's return timetable could come into focus once he's cleared to throw.

Gray was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right groin strain Wednesday.

Gray was removed from Tuesday's loss to Milwaukee with right groin tightness, and he'll miss at least one turn through the rotation while he recovers. It's not yet clear when the right-hander will be able to return to the mound, and the Reds haven't announced who could take his place in the rotation. Right-hander Art Warren was called up by the Reds in a corresponding move.

Garrett is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Miami currently has six starters on the 10-day or 60-day injured list, two of its top pitching prospects (Sixto Sanchez and Edward Cabrera) on the 7-day minor-league IL, and another starting option in the midst of serving an 80-game suspension (Paul Campbell), so Garrett will get the chance to step into a depleted rotation. Garrett hasn't fared well in his three career outings at the big-league level, giving up eight earned runs on 11 hits and six walks over 10.2 innings.

The Dodgers activated Gonsolin (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list ahead of his start Wednesday against the Pirates.

Los Angeles placed first baseman/outfielder Yoshi Tsutsugo (calf) on the 10-day IL and transferred reliever Scott Alexander (shoulder) to the 60-day IL to clear room for Gonsolin on the 26-man active roster and 40-man roster, respectively. After tossing 3.2 innings (60 pitches) in his third and final rehab start at Triple-A Oklahoma City last week, Gonsolin could be subject to a workload restriction in his first major-league start of 2021. The right-hander was a key piece of the Los Angeles rotation in 2020, logging a 2.31 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 8.9 K/9 in nine outings (eight starts).
