Gallen (forearm) has an outing scheduled for Wednesday at the Diamondbacks' alternate training site, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

It's not clear what kind of work Gallen will be getting in, but he threw 60-plus pitches in a simulated game Saturday. It sounds like he could be back sooner than later if he avoids setbacks during these sessions.

The Nationals placed Corbin on the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday, Jessica Camerato of MLB.com reports.

Corbin's absence from Monday's team workout signaled that he likely wouldn't be available for the start of the season, but that wasn't confirmed until the release of the official 26-man roster. Though Corbin isn't known to have tested positive for the virus, he'll remain in quarantine while the Nationals wait for him to clear the protocols. According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, players that tested positive will be eligible to return after 10 days in quarantine, while those ruled out through contact tracing can return after a week. With Corbin and Jon Lester both on the IL to begin the season, Erick Fedde and Austin Voth could temporarily slot into the Washington rotation as replacements.

Smyly could be facing an undermanned Nationals lineup Tuesday after a number of starters were absent from the team's on-field workout Monday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Eleven players in total are reported to be in quarantine for the Nats due to positive COVID-19 tests or being designated a close contact, and among the missing players Monday were Trea Turner, Josh Bell, Kyle Schwarber, Josh Harrison, and both the team's usual catchers in Yan Gomes and Alex Avila. Juan Soto may also not be 100 percent as he recovers from a calf injury, as he split reps during the workout with Yadiel Hernandez. Smyly's assignment gets a whole lot easier Tuesday afternoon if he ends up facing a lineup mostly made up of bench players and minor-league callups.

DeSclafani allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings of work. He did not end up factoring into the decision in an eventual 3-2 win over the Padres.

DeSclafani allowed his only run of the evening in the second inning after Jurickson Profar got on, stole second and was eventually driven home on a hard single to center by Victor Caratini. The 30-year-old ran into a bit of trouble in the fourth and fifth frames but was able to escape both times, including ending his night by striking out Tommy Pham and stranding runners on second and third. DeSclafani still struggled a bit with walks in this one, which is noteworthy because he's coming off a career-worst 10.3 percent walk rate in 2020. He'll look to pick up his first win as a Giant when the Rockies come to town April 11.

May (1-0) tossed six scoreless innings in Monday's win over the Athletics. He gave up two hits and two walks while fanning eight.

May posted a quality start while cruising through six dominant frames in his first start of the season. He posted an impressive 2.57 ERA with a 1.09 WHIP across 56 innings (10 starts) during the 2020 season. The early returns suggest the 23-year-old righty may be primed to up his strikeout rate this season, thanks largely to his impressive cutter that he used to finish off batters in this excellent outing.

Gray (back) felt healthy in a 60-pitch start Monday at Cincinnati's alternate training site, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Gray has been on the mend since March 14 due to a back issue, but he continues to make steady progress in his rehab. He'll be eligible to come off the injured list as early as mid-April, though the Reds have yet to announce when the right-hander will return to make his 2021 debut.

DeGrom didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Phillies, allowing three hits and two walks over six scoreless innings while striking out seven.

Despite the Mets' efforts to improve the roster around deGrom in the offseason, his first start of 2021 was more of the same -- he was dominant while on the mound and left with a 2-0 lead, only to watch the bullpen and defense fall apart in a five-run eighth inning for the Phillies. The right-hander threw 50 of 77 pitches for strikes and perhaps wasn't allowed to pitch deeper into the game due to the long layoff after his last spring outing, but deGrom wasn't showing any real signs of fatigue when he exited. He'll look for a better result in his next outing, set for Saturday at home against the Marlins.

Rogers (0-1) took the loss Monday, giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits and four walks over four innings as the Marlins fell 4-1 to the Cardinals. He struck out six.

There were some positive takeaways for the young southpaw, who blanked the Cards for three frames after getting tagged for three runs in the first inning, but Rogers appeared nervous and had trouble finding the plate consistently. He threw 46 of 77 pitches for strikes before exiting. Rogers will try to tighten things up in his next outing, set for Saturday on the road against the Mets.

Brubaker allowed one run on three hits and four walks over four innings in Monday's loss to the Reds. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.

Oddly enough, the only run to score against Brubaker came via a Jose De Leon single in the second inning. The 27-year-old threw 50 of 82 pitches for strikes as he had some struggles with his command throughout the night. The Pirates will hope for a longer outing out of Brubaker in Sunday's home tilt with the Cubs.

Williams (1-0) allowed two runs across six innings of work to earn the win Monday against the Brewers. He gave up two hits and two walks while striking out six.

Making his Cubs debut after spending his first five seasons with the Pirates, Williams looked good against a familiar NL Central opponent. He had a perfect game going into the sixth inning, and though things went sideways thereafter, his six strikeouts stood out for a pitcher who typically relies on generating weak contact to record outs. Williams probably can't be counted on to be a strikeout-per-inning pitcher on a regular basis, but fantasy managers certainly won't complain about his first result. Williams will look to keep it rolling when he takes on his former Pittsburgh club Sunday.
