  • David Peterson SP | CHC

Mets' David Peterson: Earns win in relief

Peterson (4-1) earned the win Wednesday in Baltimore after allowing two hits with one strikeout and two walks over four scoreless innings.

The 25-year-old made one start after returning from the injured list last week before getting shifted to the bullpen, but he ended up grabbing the win in his first outing as a reliever. Peterson has a 3.03 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 29.2 innings this season, though his 21:13 K:BB leaves something to be desired. He'll be unavailable for the next few days after throwing 59 pitches.

  • Mets' Michael Wacha: Lasts only three frames

Wacha allowed two runs on four hits and one walk over three innings Wednesday in Baltimore. He had two strikeouts and didn't factor in the decision.

The veteran right-hander wasn't espcially sharp in his second start back off the injured list, needing 69 pitches to record only nine outs. Wacha has a 7.20 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 27:7 K:BB over 20 innings and lines up to pitch against the Phillies on Monday.

  • Sixto Sanchez SP | MIA

Marlins' Sixto Sanchez: Gives up two in tough loss

Sanchez (1-1) allowed two runs on six hits (one home run) while striking out five across seven innings as he was handed the first loss of his young career Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Sanchez went toe-to-toe with Hyun-Jin Ryu, a 2019 National League Cy Young finalist, but his offense could not bear him any support on the scoreboard. Sanchez's lone mistake was serving up a two-run home run to Lourdes Gurriel in the fifth as he was otherwise quite efficient, throwing 79 pitches (56 strikes) in seven innings. The hard-throwing righty is scheduled next for a tough road matchup against the Braves.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Unable to hold lead

Webb gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings during Wednesday's 9-6 loss at Colorado. He had five strikeouts and didn't factor in the decision.

The offense staked him a four-run lead during the first inning, but the Rockies tallied two runs during the sixth inning to tied the score at 4-4 and end his afternoon. Webb has a 4.71 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 35:15 K:BB over 36.1 innings and lines up to face the Mariners on Tuesday.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Sunk by bullpen

Musgrove (0-4) allowed two earned runs on three hits and no walks while striking out four across three innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Cubs.

Musgrove was making his first start since Aug. 4, and was limited to just 46 pitches. He fared well through three innings, racking up four strikeouts while also generating five ground ball outs. Musgrove came back out to start the fifth inning but surrendered a single and double prior to being yanked. Nick Tropeano came in and promptly surrendered a three-run homer, charging Musgrove with two earned runs in the process. Musgrove will look to build on this effort in his next outing, currently projected to come Tuesday against the White Sox.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Earns fourth win

Hendricks (4-4) allowed one earned run on six hits and two walks while striking out six across six innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Pirates.

Hendricks allowed seven baserunners through four innings, but limited the Pirates to just two extra-base hits to avoid any major damage. Despite the strong performance, Hendricks did allow a solo home run to Colin Moran, and has now surrendered at least one long ball in each of his last four starts. Despite that, Hendricks maintains a solid 3.78 ERA with a 40:6 K:BB across 50 innings this season. He's in line to draw his next start Monday against St. Louis.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Another rough outing

Freeland didn't factor in the decision Wednesday against the Giants after allowing four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and one walk over two innings.

The left-hander surrendered only 32 hits and 12 runs across his first six starts, but in his last two outings he's given up 19 hits and eight runs over 6.1 innings. Freeland has a 4.09 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 28:11 K:BB over 44 innings and has a tough matchup early next week in San Diego.

  • Brewers' Adrian Houser: Takes no-decision

Houser gave up five runs on nine hits and a walk and struck out two over five innings in a no-decision versus the Tigers on Wednesday.

Houser didn't allow a homer, but that was about the extent of the positives Wednesday. He allowed nine hits for his third straight start. The 27-year-old saw his ERA rise to 4.97 with a 1.47 WHIP and 26 strikeouts across 38 innings. He still carries a 1-3 record into his next start, which lines up for next Wednesday in a rematch with the Tigers.

  • Mitch Keller SP | PIT

Pirates' Mitch Keller: Throwing live batting practice

Keller (oblique) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Thursday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

The 24-year-old landed on the injured list in early August with a left oblique injury, but facing live hitters is a good sign for his progression. The Pirates plan for Keller to return to game action before the end of the season, but a more specific timeline for his return remains unclear.

  • Mike Clevinger RP | PIT

Padres' Mike Clevinger: Team debut coming Thursday

Clevinger will start Thursday's game against the Angels.

The 29-year-old last pitched Aug. 26 for the Indians, and he'll take the mound in Thursday's series finale after being acquired by the Friars ahead of Monday's trade deadline. Clevinger has a 3.18 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 21:11 K:BB through 22.2 innings this season.
