  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

    Phillies' Zack Wheeler: Struggles late

Wheeler allowed three earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out two across 5.2 innings Tuesday against the Orioles. He did not factor into the decision.

Wheeler held the Orioles scoreless through five innings but was never particularly dominant, as he allowed at least one baserunner in each of the first three innings. He sat down six in a row and appeared to be in a rhythm until he allowed four of the first six batters he faced to reach base in the sixth frame, accounting for all three of his earned runs. While Wheeler has a 2.89 ERA through 18.2 innings, he has yet to display the ability to miss bats as he has just eight strikeouts compared to five walks. He'll draw his next start Sunday against the Mets.

  • Huascar Ynoa SP | LAA

Braves' Huascar Ynoa: Receives another start

Ynoa will start Wednesday's game against the Yankees, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

The 22-year-old made his first big-league start during Sunday's doubleheader, and he allowed allowed one run on one hit and one walk while striking out one over 2.1 innings. Manager Brian Snitker said Ynoa would pitch as deep into the game as possible Wednesday, but he may be limited to around four innings after reaching 39 pitches in his first start.

  • Ranger Suarez SP | BOS

Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Heading to alternate site

Suarez (illness) will throw in Philadelphia within the next few days before heading to the team's alternate training site to continue building up, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Suarez had at least an outside shot at winning the Phillies' fifth starter job this season, but he never got the chance to compete for one this summer, as he spent the entirety of camp on the COVID-19 injured list. He's unlikely to be used as a starter once he's ready to go given that the team's top pitching prospect, Spencer Howard, has since made his big-league debut.

  • Mitch Keller SP | PIT

Pirates' Mitch Keller: Yet to resume throwing

Keller (oblique) has yet to resume throwing, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Keller landed on the injured list in early August after leaving his second start of the year with an oblique injury. He's expected to play catch at some point before the end of the week, though that leaves him still quite a way from being able to return to game action.

  • Miles Mikolas RP | WAS

Cardinals' Miles Mikolas: Shifts to 45-day injured list

Mikolas (forearm) was transferred to the 45-day injured list Tuesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The move won't have any effect on Mikolas' return timeline, as he's already been ruled out for the year due to surgery on his right flexor tendon. The move creates a spot on the 40-man roster for the Cardinals to add a player once their season eventually resumes following their COVID-19 outbreak.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Out with triceps inflammation

Musgrove was placed on the 10-day injured list with right triceps inflammation Tuesday.

It was a sore ankle that caused Musgrove to be scratched from his previous start, but he'll now hit the injured list with an entirely different injury. It's not yet clear how much time he's expected to miss, but a triceps issue is a greater worry for a pitcher than a sore ankle would be. Trevor Williams will take what would have been Musgrove's scheduled start Thursday against Cincinnati.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Won't start until at least Friday

Flaherty won't be available to make his next start until at least Friday against the White Sox after the Cardinals' scheduled doubleheader with the Tigers on Thursday was postponed due to COVID-19-related concerns, the Associated Press reports.

Flaherty hasn't pitched since the July 24 season opener versus the Pirates, as St. Louis' hiatus will now reach at least 15 days after having eight players and several staff members test positive for the coronavirus. Cardinals players and staff will continue to undergo additional testing over the next few days before MLB decides whether the team's series in Detroit will need to be postponed.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Giants' Tyler Anderson: Gets another start

Anderson is slated to start Tuesday's game against the Astros in Houston.

Anderson joined the San Francisco rotation Aug. 6 as a replacement for Drew Smyly (finger) and fared well at his former stomping grounds in Coors Field, holding the Rockies scoreless and ceding two hits and two walks over five innings. He'll be rewarded with a second turn through the rotation and should have some longevity as a starter for the club if he can continue to deliver quality results. Shortly after Smyly was moved to the injured list last week, he was joined by another starting pitcher in Jeff Samardzija (shoulder).

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Stellar in relief

Peralta struck out eight batters over four scoreless innings of relief in Monday's loss to the Twins. He allowed just one hit and walked just one batter in the outing.

The Brewers moved Peralta from the rotation into a long-relief role last week, and he has been dominant since the switch, tossing seven scoreless frames over two outings while allowing just five hitters to reach base and punching out 14 of them.

  • Dustin May SP | MIL

Dodgers' Dustin May: Posts quality start in loss

May (1-1) was tagged with the loss Monday against the Padres. He gave up two runs on five hits -- including one home run -- and two walks while fanning two in six innings.

May surrendered a home run to Padres catcher Austin Hedges in the top of the fifth inning and an RBI single to Eric Hosmer in the top of the sixth. His night would end right after completing that inning. It was May's second straight quality start and, despite the loss, he has been pitching well. The 22-year-old right-hander has a 2.75 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in four starts (19.2 innings) in 2020.
