  • Zack Wheeler SP | PHI

Mets' Zack Wheeler: Whiffs nine in no-decision

Wheeler did not factor into the decision against the Dodgers on Sunday, pitching seven innings and giving up one run on six hits and no walks while striking out nine.

Wheeler was superb in his seven innings of work, inducing 17 swinging strikes and posting his highest strikeout total since May 31. He departed after the seventh inning in line for a win but watched the Mets' bullpen surrender the lead over the final two frames. Wheeler has now allowed a single run in each of his last four outings to lower his season ERA to 4.09 -- the lowest it has been since Opening Day. The 28-year-old's next scheduled start will be a road tilt in Cincinnati on Saturday.

  • Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Cruises through five innings

Buehler did not factor into the decision against the Mets on Sunday, hurling five innings and giving up two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one.

Buehler was told prior to the game by manager Dave Roberts that he would be on a pitch count, according to David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports. The 25-year-old responded with a five-inning outing in which he hurled 53 of 71 pitches for strikes and allowed only four baserunners. Although Buehler didn't miss many bats, he found success by inducing groundballs on nine of the 13 outs he recorded. It is unknown whether Buehler will continue to be on a pitch or innings limit moving forward -- Sunday's short leash was a consequence of Roberts' desire to get specific members of the bullpen into game action -- but with the Dodgers already having wrapped up the National League West, such decisions are not out of the question. Buehler will carry a 3.15 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 202:30 K:BB over 171.1 innings into his next scheduled start at home against Colorado on Sunday.

  • Johnny Cueto SP | LAA

Giants' Johnny Cueto: Keeps ERA perfect

Cueto allowed three hits and two walks over five shutout innings Sunday, striking out two batters in the win over Miami. He did not factor in the decision.

Since his return from the injured list after undergoing Tommy John surgery last season, Cueto has fired 10 scoreless innings in two starts. The 33-year-old left the game in line for his second victory, but the bullpen allowed Miami to tie things up in the seventh inning. Cueto will look for another strong outing in Atlanta on Saturday.

  • Cal Quantrill RP | TEX

Padres' Cal Quantrill: Handed fifth straight loss

Quantrill (6-8) allowed four runs on six hits and three walks over three innings Sunday, striking out three batters and taking the loss against Colorado.

Quantrill allowed a two-run single to Rockies starter Chi Chi Gonzalez in the second inning before serving up a two-run homer to Ryan McMahon in the third. After his Aug.14 win over the Rays, he was 6-3 with a 3.23 ERA. The 24-year-old has since dissolved, taking five straight losses while his ERA ballooned to 5.33. Quantrill will look to turn things around Friday at home against the Diamondbacks.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Cubs' Jose Quintana: Gives up five runs in short outing

Quintana gave up five runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out one through 2.1 innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Sunday.

After two scoreless innings to start the game, the wheels came off in the third frame as Quintana allowed seven baserunners while only recording one out. The 30-year-old has a 4.37 ERA and 144 strikeouts through 29 starts this season. Quintana is scheduled to make his next start Friday against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

  • Pirates' Trevor Williams: Hit hard in loss

Williams (7-7) gave up seven runs on six hits and three walks while striking out none through 2.1 innings to take the loss against the Cubs on Sunday.

Williams gave up three runs in the first inning and was charged with four more runs in the third frame. This was easily his worst start of the month, as he had three quality starts in his previous four outings coming into this game. The right-hander has a 5.59 ERA with 102 strikeouts through 24 starts this season. Williams is scheduled to make his next start Saturday against the Brewers at Miller Park.

  • Zac Gallen SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Zac Gallen: Surrenders three runs in loss

Gallen (3-6) took the loss against the Reds on Sunday, pitching 5.2 innings and giving up three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five.

Gallen was victimized by long balls in the loss, as the three runs scored against him came via a trio of solo homers. Two of those round-trippers were courtesy of Eugenio Suarez, who went deep in the fourth and sixth innings to plate the deciding runs. Despite the loss, Gallen has pitched well in September, racking up 22 strikeouts while allowing only six runs in 18.2 innings. He'll carry a 2.81 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 96:36 K:BB into his next scheduled start in San Diego on Saturday.

  • Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Allows no runs in five innings

Wacha gave up five hits and no walks while striking out one through five scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Brewers on Sunday.

Wacha delivered in his five innings, only allowing five baserunners and leaving the game in line for the win. Wacha continues to be limited in his outings, as he only has one outing with more than five innings in his previous eight starts. The 28-year-old has a 4.76 ERA and 100 strikeouts through 22 starts this season. Wacha is scheduled to make his next start Friday against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Strikes out six in no-decision

Anderson gave up one run on one hit and two walks while striking out six through four innings in a no-decision against the Cardinals on Sunday.

Anderson only allowed a solo home run, but he was pulled after 64 pitches before he could make it through the order for a third time. Anderson continued his string of short outings, as he has not pitched five innings in any of his last four starts. The 31-year-old has a 6-4 record with a 4.50 ERA and 118 strikeouts through 25 starts this season. Anderson is scheduled to make his next start Friday against the Pirates at Miller Park.

  • Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Dealing with sickness

Martinez has been dealing with some respiratory issues and spent Saturday night in the hospital as a result, Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest reports.

It was originally reported that Martinez didn't pitch Sunday because he was dealing with the flu. However, manager Mike Shildt told reporters after Sunday's loss to the Brewers that Martinez has a respiratory issue that required a trip to the hospital. Typically, respiratory problems deal with the loss of muscle strength and endurance, which would hinder any athlete's performance in a game. The Cardinals could've used Martinez on Sunday as they went into the ninth inning up 4-3 and let in what would turn out to be a game-winning grand slam by Ryan Braun. The team hopes Martinez's illness is just day-to-day and that he will be available out of the bullpen shortly.
