  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cubs' Cole Hamels: Lasts 4.1 innings in loss

Hamels (7-7) gave up one run on four hits and four walks while striking out six through 4.1 innings to take the loss against the Padres on Wednesday.

Hamels threw four scoreless innings before running into trouble in the fifth frame, but he just wasn't efficient enough, throwing 91 pitches in the shortened outing. The 35-year-old is in a rough stretch, posting a 1-4 record with a 7.58 ERA in his last seven starts. Hamels is scheduled to make his next start Monday against the Reds at Wrigley Field.

  • Logan Webb SP | SF

Giants' Logan Webb: Takes second loss

Webb (1-2) was charged with the loss against the Pirates on Wednesday, surrendering four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four across 4.2 innings.

It certainly wasn't a solid start by any means, but only two of Webb's seven hits allowed went for extra bases. The right-hander didn't allow any home runs, and he only walked one batter. Not bad for the young 22-year-old, who owns a 6.75 ERA and 1.76 WHIP across five starts for the Giants this season. His status in the rotation is not guaranteed, especially with Johnny Cueto (elbow) set to return off the injured list.

  • Zach Eflin SP | BAL

Phillies' Zach Eflin: Yields zero earned runs in loss

Eflin (8-12) allowed three unearned runs on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts across 3.2 innings while taking a loss against the Braves on Wednesday.

The good news is Eflin didn't yield an earned run, but he lost anyway, dropping his record to 8-12. He has just one win since June 25. Eflin's ERA has dropped since the end of August, but overall, he doesn't excel in any one fantasy category. He owns a 4.20 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 117 strikeouts in 143.2 innings this season. Because of two off days coming up, Eflin will have some additional rest before his next start. He is scheduled to pitch again one week from Friday at the Indians.

  • Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL

Braves' Dallas Keuchel: Wins fifth straight

Keuchel (8-5) allowed one run on three hits with three walks and eight strikeouts across six innings while earning a victory against the Phillies on Wednesday.

Just like the Braves, Keuchel is scorching hot, having won five straight starts with a 1.16 ERA during that stretch. Dating back to Aug. 14, Keuchel owns a 0.97 ERA in six outings. On the strength of this hot streak, the left-hander has now won half his starts and has a 3.35 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 81 strikeouts in 96.2 innings this season. He will face the Phillies again in his next start at home Tuesday.

  • Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Records 17th victory

Strasburg (17-6) earned the win Wednesday at Minnesota after allowing two runs on four hits over six innings. He struck out seven and walked two.

Strasburg served up a two-run homer to Jorge Polanco during the third inning but was otherwise able to keep the Twins off the board. The right-hander has been in fine form over his last five starts with a 1.91 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 44:8 K:BB across 33 innings, and he should next take the mound Monday at St. Louis.

  • Pablo Lopez SP | MIN

Marlins' Pablo Lopez: Surrenders five runs in no-decision

Lopez allowed five runs on five hits and four walks across five innings during Wednesday's loss to the Brewers. He had two strikeouts and did not factor in the decision.

Lopez struggled with his command Wednesday as he delivered only 44 of his 84 pitches for strikes on his way to issuing a season-high four walks. The 23-year-old has a 4.97 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 85:23 K:BB through 96 innings and lines up to pitch Monday at Arizona.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Posts quality start in win

Senzatela (9-10) earned the win Wednesday after holding the Cardinals to one run on four hits and a pair of walks while striking out five over six innings.

Despite coming into the game allowing a .317 average at Coors Field, Senzatela flipped the narrative Wednesday, holding an opponent to just one run for the sixth time this season and first time since June 18. In that span, Senzatela's ERA rose from 5.09 to 6.87, as he surrendered 46 runs across his last nine starts. The 24-year-old will look for his 10th win during a Monday matchup against the Mets.

  • Zach Davies SP | WAS

Brewers' Zach Davies: Labors in no-decision

Davies gave up three runs on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings during Wednesday's win at Miami. He had three strikeouts and did not qualify for the decision.

Davies entered the fifth inning with a 5-2 lead, but he was pulled at 89 pitches with one runner on base only for the bullpen to surrender the lead anyway. The 26-year-old has a 3.77 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 94:48 K:BB through 145.2 innings and lines up to pitch Monday versus San Diego.

  • Jacob Nix SP | SD

Padres' Jacob Nix: Trounced in rehab start

Nix (elbow) took the loss for Double-A Amarillo on Wednesday, allowing nine runs on seven hits and two walks in 1.2 innings. He allowed four homers and struck out two batters.

Nix entered the game having given up a total of seven earned runs in his first seven rehab starts between four minor-league levels, but he was touched up for three runs in the first inning and six in the second in what was likely to be his final minor-league outing this season. The loss was particularly painful because it came in the second game of the Texas League Championship Series. Nonetheless, Nix's overall body of work in his rehab assignment was largely a success, as he worked his way up to 90 pitches in his previous start without showing any ill effects from the UCL tear that put his season on hold in mid-March. The next step for the 23-year-old has yet to be announced, but he remains in line for a return to the Padres before the end of the season.

  • Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Works three innings

Stripling allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks while striking out two across three innings Wednesday against the Orioles.

Stripling was once again limited in his pitch count, and he's now thrown 31, 36 and 37 pitches across his three appearances since returning from the injured list. He's been effective in that span, throwing eight shutout innings and striking out six. While providing strong ratios, Stripling won't get many chances for wins or strikeouts until he gets further stretched out. He's likely to pitch again in some capacity Tuesday against the Rays, though it's unclear how exactly the team will deploy him.
