Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Slated to start Saturday
Matz (forearm) will start Saturday against the Marlins, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Matz came through a 45-pitch bullpen session with no issues Wednesday, clearing the way for the left-hander to be activated from the injured list over the weekend. The 27-year-old Matz will look to pick up where he left off prior to landing on the shelf; over his past three starts, Matz is 2-1 with a 2.89 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB in 18.2 innings.

Kyle Muller SP | ATH
Braves' Kyle Muller: Finding groove at Double-A
Muller allowed one run on five hits and two walks over 6.2 innings while striking out six for Double-A Mississippi on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old had some control issues to begin the year, not surprising for a 6-foot-6 left-hander still trying to refine his mechanics, and he issued at least four free passes in four of his first five starts. He's back to pounding the zone now, though -- Muller fired 71 of his 106 pitches for strikes against Montgomery on Wednesday, and he sports a 2.27 ERA and 40:28 K:BB through 39.2 innings. A projectable second-round pick out of a Texas high school in 2016, he's added plenty of velocity over the last two seasons and now touches 96-97 mph with his fastball, complementing it with three off-speed pitches. Atlanta has no need to rush him given all the other high-upside arm in its system, but Muller is on course to be a mid-rotation starter who could make his MLB debut as soon as 2020.

Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Trending toward Saturday's start
Matz (forearm) relayed that he felt completely healthy following his 45-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, but manager Mickey Callaway wasn't willing to commit to the left-hander being ready to return from the 10-day injured list to start Saturday's game against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
The Mets may just want to wait and see how Matz feels over the next day or two before determining his next step, but he appears quite likely to slot back into the rotation this weekend. As Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports, Matz's bullpen session included several curveballs, the pitch that had previously caused most of the nerve discomfort in his left arm. Given that Matz said he's comfortable throwing his full arsenal, he likely wouldn't face significant restrictions if he does in fact rejoin the rotation this week. Triple-A Syracuse hurlers Chris Flexen and Corey Oswalt would be the likeliest candidates to make a spot start in Miami if the Mets decide to err on the side of caution and keep Matz on the IL a little longer.

Kenta Maeda SP | NYY
Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Dominates Padres for fifth win
Maeda (5-2) picked up the win in Wednesday's 2-0 victory over the Padres, scattering three hits over 6.2 scoreless innings while striking out a season-high 12.
He not only took care of business on the mound, Maeda gave himself all the run support he would need with a two-run single in the second inning. The right-hander will carry a 3.51 ERA and 52:20 K:BB through 51.1 innings into his next start Wednesday in Tampa Bay.

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Rocked in Boston
Marquez pitched 6.1 innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits while striking out six in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Red Sox. He did not factor in the decision.
Marquez has allowed at least six hits in each of his six starts since throwing a one-hitter versus the Giants on April 14. The rough outing Wednesday sees his ERA rise to 3.80 on the year, to go with a 1.19 WHIP and 65 strikeouts through 64 innings pitched. Marquez will need to be stingier with allowing baserunners when he takes on the Pirates on Tuesday.

Mike Soroka SP | ARI
Braves' Mike Soroka: Shuts down Cards for fourth win
Soroka (4-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 4-0 victory over the Cardinals, giving up three hits and three walks over seven scoreless innings while striking out three.
The right-hander ran into serious trouble in the third inning, loading the bases on two walks and a HBP with one out, but Soroka coaxed a double-play grounder out of Paul Goldschmidt to escape the jam. The 21-year-old has yet to give up more than a single run in any of his six starts since his promotion, and Soroka will take a dazzling 0.98 ERA and 34:14 K:BB through 36.2 innings into his next outing Monday in San Francisco.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Trouble finding plate in Atlanta
Wacha (3-1) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks over five innings while striking out four in a 4-0 loss to Atlanta.
The right-hander threw only 51 of 90 pitches for strikes and generated only five swinging strikes, but Wacha was able to escape without too much damage. He'll take a 4.93 ERA and 39:26 K:BB through 42 innings into his next start Tuesday, at home against the Royals.

Jose Urena SP | LAA
Marlins' Jose Urena: Tough-luck loss in quality start
Urena (1-6) took the loss Wednesday as the Marlins dropped a 1-0 decision to the Rays, giving up one run on six hits and a walk over six innings while striking out two.
The right-hander has now delivered five quality starts in his last six outings, posting a 2.77 ERA and 24:11 K:BB through 39 innings over that stretch, but he has only one win to show for it thanks to Miami's pop-gun offense. Urena will hope for more run support in his next outing Wednesday in Detroit.
-
Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Reds' Sonny Gray: Burned by long ball
Gray allowed three earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out seven across five innings Wednesday against the Cubs. He did not factor into the decision.
Gray allowed two home runs -- a two-run shot in the second inning followed by a solo homer in the fourth frame -- to account for all three of his earned runs. Despite the significant struggles in this start, Gray has allowed just 0.8 HR/9 for the season. After he walked eight batters across his last two starts spanning 9.1 innings, it was encouraging to see Gray not issue any free passes. He's currently lined up to start Tuesday at Milwaukee.

Yu Darvish SP | SD
Cubs' Yu Darvish: Strikes out 11 in no-decision
Darvish allowed two runs on five hits across 5.1 innings Wednesday against the Reds but did not factor into the decision. He struck out 11 and did not issue any walks.
Though he failed to complete six innings for the eighth time in nine starts this year, Darvish still put together his most encouraging outing of the season. The 11 strikeouts are a season high, and the zero walks are a welcome sight for the righty after he had issued four or more walks in four of his previous five starts. Darvish will look to build on this his next time out Monday against the Phillies.
