Tyler Anderson SP | LAA
Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Shaky hold on rotation spot
Manager Bud Black said that Anderson would start Friday at home against the Diamondbacks but hinted that the left-hander's rotation spot may be on shaky ground, MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM reports. "We're aware, [Anderson is] aware we're going to try and run out our best five guys, every chance we can," Black said.
Anderson posted a season-high nine strikeouts in his last turn in Atlanta over the weekend, but he failed to escape the fifth inning for the third start in a row. Even when he maxed out at five innings in his first outing of the season March 30, Anderson still ceded five runs to a lowly Marlins offense, so he hasn't given the Rockies or fantasy players much reason to have faith in him. Don't expect dramatically better results when Anderson returns to action at Coors Field this weekend, with another bad outing potentially putting him at risk of a demotion to the bullpen or even Triple-A Albuquerque.

Eric Lauer SP | LAD
Padres' Eric Lauer: Likely to make next start Friday
Lauer is expected to make his next start Friday against the Dodgers in San Diego, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Lauer was listed as the Padres' probable starter for Thursday's series finale in Atlanta, but he now projects to lead off a six-game homestand with San Diego planning to add a temporary sixth starter to the mix in Triple-A El Paso hurler Cal Quantrill, who will take the hill Wednesday. The move back a day in the pitching schedule should prove beneficial to Lauer, who owns a career 3.86 ERA at Petco Park compared to a 4.89 mark in road venues.

Cal Quantrill RP | TEX
Padres' Cal Quantrill: Set for big-league debut Wednesday
The Padres plan to select Quantrill's contract from Triple-A El Paso and hand him a start Wednesday against the Braves, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
The addition of Quantrill temporarily gives the Padres a six-man rotation, an arrangement the organization likely always planned to implement at some point to provide an added day off between starts for Chris Paddack and Matt Strahm, who are both facing undisclosed innings limits this season. Since surrendering eight runs in his season debut for El Paso, Quantrill has pitched to a 2.86 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB in 22 innings over his subsequent four starts. The 24-year-old right-hander isn't regarded as a premium prospect and will probably have to keep the momentum he's built at Triple-A going in his initial MLB outing in order to ensure he sticks with the big club beyond Wednesday.

Kenta Maeda SP | NYY
Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: No-decision against Giants
Maeda threw five innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Monday, allowing seven hits and no earned runs, striking out three and walking two as the Dodgers eventually lost 3-2.
Maeda allowed nine baserunners, but did well to escape without allowing any runs to cross the plate in this low-scoring contest. It was a good rebound effort after he was lit up for six earned by the Cubs in his last start. The right-hander now has a 4.41 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP and a 28:15 K:BB through 32.2 innings.

Michael Lorenzen RP | TOR
Reds' Michael Lorenzen: Bullpen rises to occasion
Lorenzen threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief Monday against the Mets, part of a collective effort where the Reds' bullpen threw 5.1 scoreless innings. He allowed a hit and a walk, striking out one.
With the outing Lorenzen lowered his ERA to 1.15 on the season, covering 15.2 innings. His K:BB is a pedestrian 11:6, but he's avoided major damage by allowing just one homer so far.
-
Zack Wheeler SP | PHI
Mets' Zack Wheeler: No-decision against Reds
Wheeler didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Reds, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings while striking out four.
Cincy tagged the right-hander for four runs in the second inning, but Wheeler righted the ship after that and left the game with the score knotted 4-4. He'll carry a 5.05 ERA and 37:17 K:BB through 35.2 innings into his next start Saturday in Milwaukee.
-
Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Sunk by one bad inning
Corbin (2-1) took the loss Monday, coughing up six runs on six hits and four walks over five innings while striking out five as the Nationals fell 6-3 to the Cardinals.
The southpaw was cruising through four innings, but after he served up a one-out homer to Harrison Bader in the fifth, the wheels came off completely. Corbin had only walked six batters in 32.2 innings against 39 strikeouts coming into Monday, so don't read too much into this bout of wildness. He'll take a 3.58 ERA into his next start Saturday, on the road against the Phillies.
-
Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Downs Nats in return
Wacha (2-0) picked up the win in Monday's 6-3 victory over the Nationals, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks over five innings while striking out five.
The right-hander gave up all three runs in the second inning, including a bases-loaded walk to opposing pitcher Patrick Corbin, but Wacha settled down after that and was rewarded when the Cards erupted for six runs in the fifth. He threw 67 of 101 pitches for strikes in his first start since recovering from mild tendinitis in his left knee. Wacha will carry a 4.78 ERA and 29:17 K:BB through 26.1 innings into his next start Saturday, on the road against the Cubs.
-
Zach Davies SP | WAS
Brewers' Zach Davies: Picks up third win
Davies (3-0) gave up no runs on three hits with three walks while striking out two through 5.1 innings to pick up the win over the Rockies on Monday.
While he walked more than he struck out in this outing, he was effective enough to only allow three hits and give the Brewers a chance to win the game. The right-hander has an uncommonly low 15.4 percent strikeout rate, but continues to out-pitch his 3.92 FIP. He has a sparkling 1.38 ERA through six starts this season. Davies will get his next start Saturday against the Mets.

Kyle Freeland SP | COL
Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Loses first start back
Freeland (2-4) took the loss against the Brewers on Monday, giving up five earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out three and walking two as the Rockies lost 5-1.
Fresh off his activation from the 10-day injured list after a blister caused him to miss his last turn in the rotation, Freeland was hit with the loss in his first start back as he was victimized by a pair of long balls from Jesus Aguilar. The outing bumps his ERA to 4.81 and his WHIP to 1.22 over 33.2 innings ahead of his next start, which will see him take on the Diamondbacks at home on Saturday.
