Walker Buehler SP | SD
Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Officially joins Dodgers
Buehler had his contract purchased from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
Buehler, one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball, will join the Dodgers after starting the season with High-A Rancho Cucamonga and working his way up to Triple-A by July. He compiled a 3.35 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 125:31 K:BB through 88.2 innings across all three levels of the minors. While the Dodgers view him as a starting pitcher in the long term, he's expected to pitch out of the bullpen down the stretch.

Luis Castillo SP | CHW
Reds' Luis Castillo: Finishes off season with dominant showing
Castillo (3-7) earned the win over the Brewers on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits over eight innings. He struck out 10 and did not issue a walk.
Castillo acknowledged last week that this would be his final start of 2017, and what a way to go out. After allowing a solo homer to Neil Walker in the first, Castillo breezed through the rest of the afternoon, allowing two hits over his final seven frames. The 24-year-old ends the season with a 3.12 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 98:32 K:BB in 89.1 innings with the Reds and looks primed to receive the Opening Day nod next year.

Juan Nicasio SP | TEX
Cardinals' Juan Nicasio: Traded to Cardinals
Nicasio was traded to the Cardinals in exchange for infielder Eliezer Alvarez on Wednesday.
Just a few days after being claimed off waivers by the Phillies, Nicasio will pack his bags again and join the Cardinals' bullpen. He only made two appearances with Philadelphia, but he's posted a 2.79 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 61.1 innings throughout the course of the year between the Phillies and the Pirates. Moving forward, he figures to be used in high-leverage situations for St. Louis as the club looks to make a late push for the playoffs in September. If the Cardinals wind up nabbing a playoff spot, Nicasio will not be eligible to play in the postseason since he was added to the roster after the deadline.

Zack Greinke SP | KC
Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Allows one run in no-decision
Greinke gave up one run on four hits and one walk while striking out six in seven innings Tuesday against the Dodgers in a no-decision.
He was matched on the other side, not in efficiency, but in run prevention, by Hyun-Jin Ryu, and the Diamondbacks ended up winning 3-1 in 10 innings. Greinke remains in the top 10 among qualified big-league starters in wins (16), innings (179.1), ERA (3.01), WHIP (1.06) and strikeouts (194). He lines up to start again Monday at home against the Rockies.

Luke Farrell RP | WAS
Reds' Luke Farrell: Recalled from minors
Farrell was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Farrell is tentatively in line to work out of the Reds' bullpen for now, but with rookie Luis Castillo set to make his final start of the season Wednesday against the Brewers, a spot in the rotation will open up next week. Amir Garrett is expected to receive the first crack at replacing Castillo, but if he falters in that capacity, Farrell could get a look in a starting role before the season winds down. Across 116.2 innings in the minors this season, Ferrell has compiled a 4.78 ERA and 117:46 K:BB.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Picks up 11th win of season
Wacha (11-7) allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings to pick up the win in Tuesday's game against the Padres.
Wacha allowed four runs -- including a mammoth two-run blast to opposing pitcher Travis Wood -- in the opening two innings Tuesday, but settled down and breezed through the next four frames en route to his second consecutive quality start. The righty posted an ugly 6.04 ERA over his six August starts, but will look to finish the season on a stronger note. He's scheduled to take on the Pirates on Sunday.

Odrisamer Despaigne SP | MIA
Marlins' Odrisamer Despaigne: Takes loss Tuesday despite quality start
Despaigne (0-3) took the loss against the Nationals on Tuesday, allowing only one run on five hits and two walks over seven innings while striking out two.
It was his longest outing since moving into the rotation and his second quality start in his last three trips to the mound, but a lack of run support prevented Despaigne from being rewarded for his efforts. Despite his recent performances, he still has a meager 6:6 K:BB over those last three starts and 17 innings, making him a low-upside fantasy play Sunday in a road start against the Braves.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Extends scoreless streak to 26 innings
Strasburg (12-4) picked up the victory Tuesday, allowing six hits and striking out eight over six scoreless innings in a 2-1 win over the Marlins.
The right-hander has now extended his scoreless streak to 26 innings, setting a new Nationals record in the process. Strasburg sports a 44:7 K:BB in 36 innings since the All-Star break, and the only thing standing between him and a dominant finish to 2017 is the possibility of another injury scare. He'll next take the mound Sunday at home against a Phillies team that's managed only a .312 wOBA against righties on the season.
-
Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Pitches well in loss
Ryu held the Diamondbacks to one run on three hits and five walks while striking out seven over six innings Tuesday. He did not factor into the decision in the extra-inning loss.
Ryu bounced back in a big way after getting torched for six runs in his last start against these very same Diamondbacks. The veteran southpaw pitched well outside of the five walks, but the Dodgers' offensive struggles prevented him from notching his sixth win of the season. Ryu will look to continue his second-half excellence (2.60 ERA in eight starts) in a favorable matchup against the Giants next Monday.
-
Zach Davies SP | WAS
Brewers' Zach Davies: Takes loss despite solid outing
Davies (16-8) gave up two runs -- one earned -- on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings Tuesday, which was enough to hand him a loss to the Reds. He struck out four.
Milwaukee's offense didn't give him enough support, but Davies continued his streak of terrific mound performances -- over his last five starts, he's allowed only four earned runs in 32.1 innings, good for a 1.11 ERA. Of course, Davies' lack of strikeout ability means stretches like that are hard for him to sustain, but he's done well to keep the ball on the ground (and thus not over the fence) this year. That said, his 2016 numbers were better in a number of categories -- K/9, BB/9 and FIP, for a few examples. He'll make his next start Monday at home against the Pirates.
