  • Julio Teheran SP | BAL

Braves' Julio Teheran: Home struggles continue Tuesday

Teheran (7-10) coughed up five runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings while striking out six, taking the loss Tuesday against the Phillies.

He carried a 1-0 lead into the fourth inning before the wheels came off, but given his issues at SunTrust Park this year it was only a matter of time until the Phillies got to him. Teheran now has a 7.07 ERA in 12 home starts, compared to a 3.57 ERA in 11 away starts, and his K/9, BB/9 and HR/9 are all worse in the so-called friendly confines as well. He'll next take the mound Monday to kick off a four-game set at Coors Field.

  • Chris Flexen RP | CHC

Mets' Chris Flexen: Picks up first win Tuesday

Flexen (1-1) gave up three runs on four hits and three walks over 5.2 innings while striking out four in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Rangers.

Staked to a 4-0 lead by the second inning, Flexen held Texas at bay until the fifth before Joey Gallo and Adrian Beltre homered and chased the young right-hander from the game. While he did record his first big-league win, Flexen's 8.49 ERA and 8:8 K:BB in 11.2 innings since his recall indicate he's not yet ready for prime time. He'll remain in the rotation for the moment, however, with his next start coming Sunday in Philadelphia.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Cubs' Jose Quintana: Stuck with loss by Giants

Quintana (6-10) gave up four runs -- three earned -- on six hits and a walk over six innings in Tuesday's road loss to San Francisco. He struck out three.

The southpaw is now 2-2 with an unspectacular 4.20 ERA since his crosstown trade, though he's shown noticeably better control over his five outings as a Cub, posting a 2.1 BB/9; it was 3.5 with the White Sox. Thanks to that as well as some improved BABIP luck, Quintana's WHIP with his new club is 1.03, but he's also been serving up homers consistently, bringing his season total to 20 long balls in 23 starts. Even though the Quintana of old just hasn't quite shown up yet, his strong strikeout rate and general reliability make him a solid fantasy asset in the majority of formats.

  • Zach Eflin SP | BAL

Phillies' Zach Eflin: Picks up first win Tuesday

Eflin picked up his first win of the season Tuesday after allowing two runs on seven hits over seven innings in a 5-2 win over the Braves. He struck out three and walked one.

Eflin was making his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He relied on his sinker to generate weak contact and recorded nine groundouts in the game. He has likely earned himself another start with this performance, which puts him in line to face the Mets on Sunday.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Stays steady in no-decision

Maeda held the Diamondbacks to a single run on four hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings in a no-decision Tuesday.

Over his last 10 appearances (eight starts), Maeda has put up a 2.08 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 43:9 K:BB over 47.2 innings, and yet it's been all he can do just to cling to a rotation spot. Part of that is his own fault, as despite the sparkling stats, he's had a ton of trouble pitching deep into games -- he's exceeded five innings just twice in that span, and it took him 92 pitches to complete Tuesday's outing. When Clayton Kershaw (back) returns, someone's going to get the boot from the Dodgers' starting five, but even with his relative inability to pitch deep into games, the Japanese righty's stats have made a strong argument that it shouldn't be him. His next turn will come Sunday at home against San Diego.

  • Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Picks up ninth win Tuesday

Wacha (9-4) surrendered three runs on six hits and two walks over six innings during Tuesday's win over the Royals. He struck out five.

Despite his inconsistencies, Wacha has proven himself to be a solid starting pitching option since the All-Star break, as he has only allowed nine earned runs over his last 31 innings. The 26-year-old is scheduled to square off against the Braves on Sunday.

  • Rockies' German Marquez: Denied win in strong outing Tuesday

Marquez tossed six shutout innings Tuesday, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out three, but came away with a no-decision in a 4-1 loss to Cleveland.

Matched up against ace Corey Kluber, Marquez outdueled the 2014 AL Cy Young Award winner and was in position for the victory thanks to Charlie Blackmon's homer that led off the game, only for Greg Holland to blow the save in the ninth. Marquez has now provided the Rox with six straight quality starts, posting a 2.95 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 41:10 K:BB in 39.2 innings over that stretch. He'll look to make it seven straight Monday at home against the Braves.

  • Vance Worley SP | NYM

Marlins' Vance Worley: Tosses quality start in win over Nats

Worley (2-2) tossed six innings of one-run ball in Tuesday's win over the Nationals, allowing six hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

Worley was sharp in this one, tossing 64 percent of his pitches for strikes and inducing seven groundball outs. He was only scored upon by an RBI groundout following a Brian Goodwin extra-base hit in the third inning , but his teammates built him a comfortable lead before he completed the sixth. It was Worley's second straight quality start -- he's tossed 13 one-run innings over that span to lower his ERA to 4.82. He has hit his stride of late and will look to keep it going Sunday against the Rockies.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Bullpen session on tap

Anderson (knee) played catch Tuesday and is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Ben Weinrib of MLB.com reports.

Anderson continues to rehab his way back from the arthroscopic knee surgery he underwent in early July to dissolve the left knee inflammation that was afflicting him. The lefty remains without a timetable for return, though he's certainly making solid progress. He'll likely require a minor-league rehab start or two before rejoining the big-league club.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Targeting weekend bullpen session

Manager Dave Roberts reported Tuesday that Kershaw (back) will likely throw a bullpen session this weekend in Los Angeles, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.

If he is indeed able to complete the scheduled bullpen session, it'll be Kershaw's first work from the mound since suffering his lower-back strain on July 23. Alanna Rizzo of SportsNetLA also reports that the ace will require a simulated game and a rehab assignment before returning to the majors. Though he remains without a timetable for return, Dave Roberts believes that Kershaw will ultimately be able to make four or five starts with the Dodgers before the regular seasons concludes, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
