  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Brewers' Chase Anderson: Takes tough loss Sunday

Anderson (5-2) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Sunday despite allowing just one run and striking out eight over six innings of work.

While Anderson saw his scoreless streak end in the first inning, he rebounded to finish with a respectable line, even if he does show up in the loss column. The right-hander has lowered his ERA from 4.25 to 2.83 in his last four starts, a span in which he has struck out 30 batters.

  • Reds' Brandon Finnegan: Completes rehab start at Double-A

Finnegan (shoulder) completed three innings Sunday for Double-A Pensacola in a rehab start, allowing one run on one hit and one walk with a strikeout, C. Trent Roscreans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Finnegan is currently on the 60-day disabled list and is targeting a late-June return to the rotation. His Sunday outing was a pivotal step, though he only threw 35 pitches, 23 of which were strikes. The left-hander will obviously need to be stretched out more before rejoining the Reds.

  • Seth Lugo SP | KC

Mets' Seth Lugo: Cruises through seven for first win

Lugo (1-0) allowed just a single run on six hits and two walks while striking out six batters during Sunday's win over Atlanta.

An elbow injury held Lugo out of action until this point, but he showed absolutely no rust in his season debut Sunday. The 27-year-old righty posted an impressive 2.67 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through eight starts last year, so he is definitely on the fantasy radar. Lugo should remain in the rotation for the foreseeable future and projects to face the Nationals in his next start.

  • Kenta Maeda SP | NYY

Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: To pitch again Wednesday or Thursday

Manager Dave Roberts announced Sunday that Maeda's next relief outing will likely be Wednesday or Thursday against the Indians, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

The Dodgers are being strategic with Maeda's usage out of the bullpen and tentatively plan to have him piggyback on the start of either Brandon McCarthy on Wednesday or Rich Hill on Thursday against the defending AL champs. The veteran hurler will likely remain in the bullpen until an injury opens a spot in the rotation.

  • Taijuan Walker SP | LAA

Diamondbacks' Taijuan Walker: Aiming for Wednesday return

The Diamondbacks hope Walker (finger) will be ready to return from the disabled list to start Wednesday against the Tigers, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Walker was placed on the 10-day disabled list May 21 with a blister issue and has progressed well through his rehab program. He was able to pitch a five-inning simulated game Wednesday and tossed a bullpen session Saturday, enduring no apparent complications. Walker may throw again Monday before the Diamondbacks make a final call on his status for Wednesday's start. Assuming he's able to go, Zack Godley or Randall Delgado would likely lose his spot in the rotation, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic, though Patrick Corbin has pitched poorly enough that he could be under consideration, as well.

  • Marco Gonzales RP | TEX

Cardinals' Marco Gonzales: Named starter for Tuesday

Gonzales will start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Brewers, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

With a doubleheader on tap for Tuesday's tilt against the Brewers, the Cardinals were pressed to bring in a pitcher for a spot start. Gonzales has found success with Triple-A Memphis this season, as he currently sports a 3.26 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 24:9 K:BB ratio over 30.1 innings. He'll face tough competition Tuesday, as the Brewers rank top 10 in the league against left-handing pitching with a .779 team OPS.

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Returns from paternity leave

Greinke was reinstated from the paternity list Sunday.

Greinke left the team Thursday to be with his family but wasn't in any jeopardy of missing his upcoming start. The ace is currently scheduled to take the mound Wednesday against the Tigers.

  • Seth Lugo SP | KC

Mets' Seth Lugo: Activated ahead of Sunday start

Lugo (elbow) was activated from the 60-day disabled list ahead of his Sunday start against the Braves, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Lugo has been sidelined for the entirety of the early 2017 campaign due to an elbow ailment but is set to make his season debut Sunday against the Braves. Lugo was a real asset for the Mets last season, posting a 2.67 ERA over 64 innings, which included eight starts.

  • Sixto Sanchez SP | MIA

Phillies' Sixto Sanchez: Will make return Sunday

Sanchez (neck) is slated to return from the disabled list and start for Low-A Lakewood on Sunday.

The 18-year-old has been limited to just five starts this season with a stiff neck, but after taking the last month off to recuperate, it looks like he's ready to go. Sanchez has submitted a 3.70 ERA and 28:3 K:BB over 24.1 innings with Lakewood this season, numbers that are even more impressive when accounting for his age relative to the rest of the South Atlantic League competition.

  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Solid in return from DL

Wood (shoulder) gave up three runs on five hits over 5.2 innings Saturday. He didn't issue a walk and struck out seven in a 5-4 win over the Reds.

The southpaw looked sharp in his return from a shoulder injury, but his scoreless streak came to an end at 27.1 innings when he gave up an RBI single to Jose Peraza in the third inning. Wood looked like his dominant pre-injury self through the first five innings, but he admittedly ran out of gas in the sixth, allowing two batters to reach base before watching them score from the dugout when Josh Fields served up a home run to Devin Mesoraco. All in all, it was a positive return from the disabled list for the 26-year-old. Wood will look to build on his impressive 2.01 ERA when he takes on the Reds on Friday.
