The 26-year-old induced 12 whiffs on 82 pitches while limiting hard contact, but he's now failed to complete five innings in two of his last three outings. He'll take a 4.83 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 54:26 K:BB across 76.1 innings into a home matchup with the Reds next weekend.

Francis cruised through three scoreless innings but hit a wall in the fourth, allowing two runs while putting five straight batters on via walk or hit-by-pitch. The 29-year-old has now failed to complete four frames in three consecutive outings and hasn't delivered a quality start since May 10. On the season, he owns a 6.05 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 54:27 K:BB across 64 innings and can't be relied upon even in a favorable matchup against the White Sox next weekend.

Sanchez did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks with five strikeouts over seven innings.

Sanchez allowed two runs in the fourth inning but was otherwise excellent, throwing 68 of 98 pitches for strikes without issuing a walk for just the second time this season. The 28-year-old delivered his third straight quality start and has been remarkably consistent, allowing three earned runs or fewer in 13 of his 14 outings. He'll carry a 3.05 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 88:28 K:BB across 79.2 innings into a favorable matchup with the Marlins next week.

Mahle won't make his scheduled start Sunday against the White Sox and will likely be placed on the injured list, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Mahle dealt with some shoulder soreness in his most recent start Tuesday, though nothing was reported until Saturday. His move to the injured list is not yet official, but Kumar Rocker will start in Mahle's place Sunday.

Rocker will be recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to start Sunday against the White Sox, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Tyler Mahle was the scheduled starter for Sunday but is expected to be placed on the injured list due to shoulder soreness. That leaves the Rangers in need of a fifth starter, and Rocker will be tabbed for the role -- at least in the short term. The right-hander was recently activated from the injured list but struggled in a start June 4 with five earned runs allowed across 3.1 innings before being sent to the minors.

Wells (elbow) completed a 25-pitch bullpen session Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Wells tossed fastballs and changeups, and the expectation is that he'll soon begin implementing breaking balls into his throwing program. The 30-year-old right-hander continues to slowly work his way back from the UCL surgery he underwent on his right elbow in 2024, and he'll likely require a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment before becoming an option for the Orioles' rotation. Based on his current progression, Wells is unlikely to make his season debut until sometime in August.

Verlander (pectoral) completed a bullpen session Saturday and is expected to return during the Giants' upcoming homestand, which begins Tuesday versus the Guardians, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Verlander completed a 65-pitch sim game Wednesday in what appeared to be his final test before being activated from the injured list. Saturday's activity may have been one final confirmation that he's ready to retake the big-league mound, which he appears likely to do within the next week.

Holmes will start Sunday against the Rockies, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Chris Sale was originally scheduled to start, but Atlanta will push him back to its upcoming series against the Mets. Holmes will draw a more favorable matchup as a result, but he has a 5.65 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across his last 14.1 innings (three starts).

Boyd (6-3) picked up the win Saturday, allowing a run on one hit and one walk over six innings in a 2-1 victory over the Pirates. He struck out three.

The veteran southpaw fired 63 of 93 pitches for strikes in his fourth straight quality start and 10th of the year, but Boyd looked like he might have to settle for a no-decision until Dansby Swanson broke a 1-1 tie by going yard in the sixth inning. Boyd will take a 2.79 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 73:19 K:BB through 80.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Mariners.

Sale is having his start pushed back from Sunday to a game during Atlanta's upcoming series against the Mets, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Sale isn't dealing with any disclosed injury, rather Atlanta appears to be saving him for a key divisional series against the Mets. Grant Holmes will step in for Sales' originally scheduled start Sunday against the Rockies.
