  • Brandon Young SP | BAL

Orioles' Brandon Young: Sticking around in rotation

Young is slated to start Saturday's game against the Athletics at Camden Yards, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

With Zach Eflin (back) recently landing on the injured list and Kyle Bradish (elbow) and Tyler Wells (elbow) in the midst of rehab assignments, Young will get at least one more turn through the Baltimore rotation. For the season, the right-hander owns a 5.88 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 41.1 innings at the big-league level, but he's fared better over his last three starts, yielding a 3.00 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 13:7 K:BB in 15 frames.

  • Reds' Nick Martinez: Slotting back into rotation

Martinez is slated to start Saturday's' game against the Pirates at PNC Park.

After one appearance out of the bullpen following the acquisition of Zack Littell, Martinez will slot back into the rotation after Cincinnati placed Nick Lodolo (finger) on the injured list Tuesday. Lodolo sustained a blister on his pitching hand Monday, resulting in his early exit while Martinez came on to cover 2.1 innings in relief. The righty tossed 103 pitches and six innings in a July 30 start versus the Dodgers, so he shouldn't be operating with any workload restrictions as he steps back into the rotation.

  • Eury Perez SP | MIA

Marlins' Eury Perez: Hit hard in no-decision

Perez did not factor into the decision, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and two walks over 5.1 innings Thursday against Atlanta. He struck out one.

Entering Thursday, Perez had been dominant across his previous six outings, posting a 1.06 ERA with 37 strikeouts. However, he struggled to miss bats in this one, managing just one punchout while getting tagged for a season high in runs. The 22-year-old will look to rebound and recapture his sharp form in his next scheduled start, which lines up for next week against the Guardians.

  • Braves' Carlos Carrasco: Struggles in no-decision

Carrasco didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Marlins, allowing six earned runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out two.

Carrasco was tagged for five runs in the second inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Graham Pauley, and never fully settled in. The veteran right-hander has been subpar since joining Atlanta, giving up nine earned runs on 16 hits over 11.2 innings through two starts. Carrasco's margin for error remains thin as he tries to solidify a spot in Atlanta's rotation after a string of injuries.

  • Bryce Miller SP | SEA

Mariners' Bryce Miller: Ramps up to 66 pitches

Miller (elbow) allowed four earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five across 3.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.

Miller made his second rehab outing with Tacoma and increased his pitch count from 52 to 66 pitches. His line wasn't all that impressive, but he averaged 95.9 mph on his fastball while topping out at 97.5 mph. It's unclear if he'll return to the rotation the next time he takes the mound, or if he'll require an additional rehab start before rejoining the Mariners.

  • Brady Singer SP | CIN

Reds' Brady Singer: Struggles early in loss

Singer (9-9) took the loss Thursday against the Pirates, allowing four earned runs on six hits and four walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out two.

Singer struggled to find his command early, walking three consecutive batters and giving up a solo homer to Bryan Reynolds as part of a three-run first inning. The 29-year-old was unable to recover and was lifted at 86 pitches, as he failed to finish four frames for the fourth time through 23 starts this year. The right-hander had delivered back-to-back excellent outings prior to this start, but inconsistency continues to define his season. Singer will carry a 4.53 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 113:48 K:BB across 119.1 innings into his next scheduled outing against the Phillies next week.

  • Shane Smith RP | CHW

White Sox's Shane Smith: Strikes out eight

Smith did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Mariners. He allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over five innings.

Randy Arozarena's two-run homer in the third inning accounted for both of Seattle's runs against Smith, who was otherwise impressive in his second start back from the IL, logging a career-best eight strikeouts. Overall, the 25-year-old Smith sports a 4.22 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP and 93:42 K:BB through 20 starts (96 innings) this season. He's currently slated to face the Tigers at home in his next outing.

  • Paul Skenes P | PIT

Pirates' Paul Skenes: Tosses six scoreless in win

Skenes (7-8) earned the win Thursday against the Reds, allowing seven hits and striking out eight across six scoreless innings.

Coming off a rocky outing in which he gave up four runs over five frames, Skenes bounced back to his typical dominance, logging his third consecutive start with at least eight strikeouts. He gave up a hit in all but one inning Thursday but worked around the traffic to keep Cincinnati off the board, throwing 97 pitches (69 strikes). The 23-year-old phenom continues to lead MLB, among qualified starters, with a 1.94 ERA, along with a 0.93 WHIP and an elite 162:34 K:BB over 144 innings. Despite the occasional minor hiccup, Skenes continues to overwhelm hitters and will look to keep rolling in his next scheduled outing in Milwaukee, against whom he surrendered four runs over a season-low four innings June 25.

  • Alek Manoah SP | LAA

Blue Jays' Alek Manoah: Makes start at Double-A

Manoah allowed two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two across three innings in a rehab outing with Double-A New Hampshire on Thursday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Manoah has been pitching in a combination of rehab outings and simulated games across the last three weeks. While the numbers aren't overwhelmingly positive with a 10.13 ERA and 5:5 K:BB over 5.1 rehab innings, Thursday's appearance marked Manoah's longest both in terms of outs recorded and pitches thrown (64). It's unclear how many more rehab starts he'll need, but Manoah could be ready for his 2025 MLB debut by the end of August.

  • Logan Gilbert SP | SEA

Mariners' Logan Gilbert: Goes five innings in no-decision

Gilbert did not factor into the decision Thursday against the White Sox, allowing a run on two hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.

Gilbert held the White Sox scoreless through four innings before ultimately allowing a lone run on a Michael Taylor solo homer in the fifth. It's been an up-and-down year overall for the 28-year-old Gilbert, though he's now held opponents to three runs or fewer in four of his last five starts. Gilbert's ERA now sits at 3.35 with a 0.98 WHIP and 118 strikeouts through 16 starts (83.1 innings). He's tentatively lined up to face the Orioles on the road in his next outing.
