  • Eriq Swan SP | WAS

Nationals' Eriq Swan: Dealt to Washington

The Dodgers traded Swan along with Sean Paul Linan to the Nationals on Thursday in exchange for Alex Call, Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

Swan has spent the entire season with High-A Great Lakes, where he put up a 4.43 ERA with a 77:46 K:BB in 69.0 innings across 16 games. While not great, the righty has been able to lower his ERA, which was 5.16 when he pitched in Single-A Rancho Cucamonga in 2024.

  • Merrill Kelly SP | ARI

Rangers' Merrill Kelly: Heading to Texas

The Rangers acquired Kelly from the Diamondbacks on Thursday in exchange for left-handers Kohl Drake and Mitch Bratt and right-hander David Hagaman, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Kelly will step right into the rotation behind Jacob deGrom and Nathan Eovaldi, although it's unclear when he'll make his Rangers debut. The 36-year-old Kelly -- who is set to become a free agent this winter -- delivered a 3.22 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 121 strikeouts in 128.2 innings with Arizona this season.

  • Boston Bateman SP | BAL

Orioles' Boston Bateman: Heading to Baltimore

Bateman was traded from the Padres to the Orioles on Thursday as part of the return for Ryan O'Hearn and Ramon Laureano, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports. The Orioles also received Brandon Butterworth, Victor Figueroa, Cobb Hightower, Tyson Neighbors and Tanner Smith in return.

A 6-foot-8, 19-year-old left-handed pitcher, Bateman has a high ceiling but is years away from the majors. The Padres drafted him 52nd overall in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft and gave him a $2.5 million bonus. Bateman has a 4.08 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 75:25 K:BB in 68.1 innings at Single-A this season.

  • Ryan Gusto P | MIA

Marlins' Ryan Gusto: Bound for Miami

The Marlins acquired Gusto, infielder Chase Jaworsky and outfield Esmil Valencia from the Astros on Thursday in exchange for outfielder Jesus Sanchez, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

After tossing six innings of one-run ball and picking up his seventh win of the season in Wednesday's victory over the Nationals, Gusto will now provide the Marlins' pitching staff with an arm capable of being used in the rotation and out of the bullpen. The 26-year-old righty owns a rather uninspiring 4.92 ERA on the season, however, so he would likely work in the back end of the Miami rotation or serve as a low-leverage reliever.

  • Ben Shields SP | COL

Rockies' Ben Shields: Heading to Colorado

Shields was traded from the Yankees to the Rockies on Thursday along with Roc Riggio in exchange for Jake Bird, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Shields is a 26-year-old starter who has never pitched in the majors and hasn't pitched at Triple-A since last year, but any dynasty appeal he had is now dashed with the move to Colorado. The 6-foot-4 lefty has a 3.42 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 26:10 K:BB in 23.2 innings across five starts at Double-A this year.

  • Raimon Gomez SP | BAL

Orioles' Raimon Gomez: Traded to Baltimore

Gomez was traded from the Mets to the Orioles on Thursday along with Anthony Nunez and Chandler Marsh in exchange for Cedric Mullins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Gomez has a fastball that has regularly touched triple digits in the past, but very poor command resulted in him moving from the rotation to the bullpen this year in the lower levels of the Mets' system. Gomez has a 6.95 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 28:15 K:BB in 22 innings as a reliever at High-A. He missed 2024 recovering from Tommy John surgery.

  • Royals' Stephen Kolek: Dealt to Royals

Kolek was traded from the Padres to the Royals on Thursday along with Ryan Bergert in exchange for Freddy Fermin, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Kolek was optioned to Triple-A earlier this week after logging a 4.18 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 56 strikeouts across 79.2 innings in the big-league rotation. Bergert and/or Kolek could get a look in the Royals rotation down the stretch, given the injuries to Cole Ragans (shoulder) and Kris Bubic (shoulder).

  • Royals' Ryan Bergert: Lands with Royals in trade

The Royals acquired Bergert and Stephen Kolek from the Padres on Thursday in exchange for Freddy Fermin, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Bergert has made seven starts and four relief appearances this season for the Padres and compiled a 2.78 ERA and 34:18 K:BB over 35.2 innings. The 25-year-old boasts a 26.8 percent strikeout rate at the minor-league level and should go directly into the Kansas City rotation.

  • Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Rehab assignment on tap

Taillon (calf) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, per MLB.com.

Taillon faced hitters in a 40-pitch live batting practice session Tuesday, and his next step is a rehab assignment in Iowa. The veteran has already been able to build his stamina some by throwing off a mound during his recovery from a calf strain, so his rehab stint may be fairly brief. Taillon has been out since June 29, and Chicago manager Craig Counsell said a few days later that the pitcher would miss about a month, so the righty appears on track to return to the Cubs' rotation in the near future.

  • Josh Randall SP | WAS

Nationals' Josh Randall: Dealt to Nationals

The Nationals acquired Randall and R.J. Sales from the Tigers on Thursday in exchange for Kyle Finnegan, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Randall has posted a 3.92 ERA and 70:15 K:BB over 80.1 frames covering 17 starts between the Single- and High-A levels in 2025. The 22-year-old right-hander was a third-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft.
