Lodolo didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 10-9 win over the Giants, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over four-plus innings. He struck out five.
Half of the hits off Lodolo went for extra bases, including two-run blasts by Jonah Cox in the second inning and Rafael Devers in the fifth. Lodolo has struggled to keep the ball in the yard since coming off the IL earlier this month and attempting to employ a new grip on his curveball to avoid blisters. Over his last four starts he's served up six homers in 16.1 innings en route to a 7.72 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB. The southpaw will be a risky fantasy option in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home early next week against the Padres.

Reds' Nick Lodolo: Surrenders six runs in loss
Lodolo (3-3) allowed six runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out two over 3.1 innings to take the loss versus the Diamondbacks on Friday.
In addition to the 12 baserunners allowed, the battery of Lodolo and Jose Trevino surrendered four stolen bases to add some fuel to Arizona's early offense. Over three starts since returning from a finger issue, Lodolo has given up 10 runs over 12.1 innings. He's had trouble getting into a rhythm at all this year, posting a 5.04 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 59:31 K:BB through 75 innings over 15 starts. Lodolo is projected to make his next start at San Francisco.

Lodolo matched up well with Eury Perez, who delivered six scoreless frames of his own for Miami, but Cincinnati's bullpen was shelled in the late innings to spoil his effort. Lodolo will be making his first appearance in the majors since he landed on the 15-day injured list shortly before the All-Star break due to a recurring blister issue on his left index finger. Since that IL move, Lodolo has been using a modified grip for his curveball as he aims to put his blister problems behind him. In his lone rehab start, the southpaw allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings for Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
