  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

White Sox's Paul DeJong: Not starting Sunday

DeJong is out of the lineup for Sunday's game at Kansas City.

DeJong started the first two games of the series but will head to the bench for Sunday's finale after going 1-for-6 with a double and three strikeouts. Braden Shewmake will receive the start at shortstop as the pair continue to split playing time.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Swipes bag in victory

Neto went 2-for-4 with a stolen base against the Red Sox in Saturday's 2-1 win.

Neto was productive from the bottom of the order in a game during which the Angels managed just six hits. The 23-year-old collected his second multi-hit game of the campaign, both of which have come over his past three contests. It's been a slow start for Neto, as he's slashing .241/.267/.310 with no homers and four RBI through 30 plate appearances. Saturday's theft was his first successful stolen base in three attempts.

  • Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Opens season on IL

Single-A Lakeland placed McGonigle (hamstring) on its 7-day injured list Friday.

The 19-year-old shortstop won't be available for the start of the Florida State League season after he strained his left hamstring during spring training and is still working his way back from the injury. McGonigle is without a definitive target date for a return, but provided he doesn't need surgery to address the injury, he should be back in action at some point later in April or in May.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Not in Sunday's lineup

Baez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the A's, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Baez is 4-for-26 through his first seven games of the season and will take a seat for Sunday's series finale versus Oakland. Zach McKinstry will step in at shortstop and bat eighth.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Could have lengthy absence

Story (shoulder) said Saturday he hopes to play again this year but indicated there's a chance he's out for the season, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

The 31-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a dislocated left shoulder and is without an official timetable for his return, but it appears he could be out for most or all of the season. Story is undergoing a more extensive evaluation Monday in Boston, which should shed more light on the length of his absence. Pablo Reyes and David Hamilton are the likely favorites to fill in at shortstop for the Red Sox.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Nabs first two steals of 2024

Henderson went 0-for-4 but drew a walk and stole two bases in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Pirates.

Henderson hit his second homer of the season Friday and is now on the board with his first two steals after swiping second and third against the battery of Aroldis Chapman and Joey Bart in the eighth inning of Saturday's game. Last year's AL Rookie of the Year, Henderson has been in leadoff spot for all eight of the Orioles' games so far this season.

  • David Hamilton 3B | MIL

Red Sox's David Hamilton: Summoned from Triple-A

Boston recalled Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Pablo Reyes started at shortstop Saturday and will probably get the first crack at filling in for Trevor Story (shoulder). Hamilton should also be in the mix, though, and is the more interesting of the two players for fantasy purposes after stealing 57 bases at Worcester and another two with the big club in 2023. He was 3-for-18 with two home runs in his first five games with Worcester this season.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: To IL with dislocated shoulder

Story was placed on the 10-day injured list by the Red Sox on Saturday with a dislocated left shoulder, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Story suffered the injury during Friday's game against the Angels when he landed awkwardly after attempting a diving stop on a grounder. He will undergo a more extensive exam Monday in Boston, during which he'll be checked for potential labrum damage. A determination could be made then if he needs surgery or will attempt the rest and rehab route. Pablo Reyes is starting at shortstop Saturday and David Hamilton -- who replaced Story on the active roster -- could also see some action at short.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Awaiting MRI results

The Red Sox are still awaiting the results of the MRI on Story's left shoulder, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

Story is not in the lineup Saturday after exiting Friday's game with what looked like a potentially serious shoulder injury. Manager Alex Cora said Saturday that Story was "pretty sore throughout the night, during the day," but the club is waiting for MRI results before making a roster move. Pablo Reyes is starting at shortstop Saturday and David Hamilton has been added to the taxi squad.

  • Jacob Amaya SS | ARI

Astros' Jacob Amaya: Acquired by Houston

The Astros acquired Amaya from the Marlins on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations and Valente Bellozo, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Amaya was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land.

Amaya, 25, is a glove-first shortstop who has mostly just kept his head above water in the minors with his bat, although he has displayed decent on-base skills. He should get regular reps at shortstop with Sugar Land and offers solid depth at the position in the event something happens to Jeremy Pena.
