Twins' Ehire Adrianza: Hopes to return this season

Adrianza (oblique) expects to be able to return this season, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

He will receive treatment for five days before possibly advancing to baseball activities. Even if Adrianza gets back before the end of the regular season, he would likely only get back for the final week and would be utilized in a part-time role.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Rays' Willy Adames: Cranks 18th homer

Adames went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two more runs scored during Friday's win over the Angels.

Adames was the first of three Tampa Bay batters to go deep off Andrew Heaney in the third inning. The 24-year-old shortstop did so with a solo shot, marking his 18th long ball of the season while batting .252/.314/.412.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Slams walkoff homer

Bichette went 3-for-5 with a solo walkoff home run, two runs and a walk during a 6-5 extra-innings victory against the Yankees on Friday.

The rookie came into the night with a hit in seven of the past nine games, including four straight, and yet, he's batting only .195 this month. The multi-hit game Friday, though, should help the average and gave him his third homer in September. Bichette has been pretty spectacular since debuting in late July, hitting .313 with 11 home runs, 18 RBI, 29 runs and four steals in 179 at-bats.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Rays' Joey Wendle: Hits bench Friday

Wendle is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

Wendle hits the bench with lefty Andrew Heaney on the mound for Los Angeles. Matt Duffy will get the start at third base.

Indians' Yu Chang: Not in starting nine

Chang is not starting Friday against the Twins.

Chang started each of the last four games, going 3-for-14 with a homer. Mike Freeman gets the call at the hot corner Friday.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Slated to start Friday

Crawford (hamstring) is expected to return to the lineup for Friday's series opener against the White Sox, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Crawford was cleared to return Thursday, but manager Scott Servais opted to give his shortstop's legs one more day of rest. However, it appears he'll jump back into action Friday following an 11-game absence, with final confirmation to come upon the release of starting lineups.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Joins exclusive club

Bogaerts went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 7-4 win over the Blue Jays.

The double was Bogaerts' 50th, which grants him membership to an exclusive club. He becomes only the second shortstop in MLB history, along with Alex Rodriguez, to reach 30 home runs and 50 doubles in a single season. David Ortiz is the only other hitter in Red Sox history to achieve that feat.

  • Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA

Twins' Ehire Adrianza: Departs with oblique strain

Adrianza exited Thursday night's game against the Nationals with a right oblique strain, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

It's unclear as to when Adrianza suffered the injury, but he'll likely miss some time following this diagnosis. Ronald Torreyes replaced Adrianza at shortstop.

  • Mariners' Dee Gordon: Heads to bench

Gordon is not starting Thursday against the Reds, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Dylan Moore is starting at the keystone in place of Gordon, who has started the past four games and gone 3-for-13 with a triple and a stolen base.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Not starting Thursday

Crawford is not in the lineup Thursday against the Reds, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Crawford has been cleared to return from a hamstring injury that has kept him on the shelf all month, but the Mariners apparently want to give him another day off. Donnie Walton is starting at shortstop in this one.
