  • Mariners' Dee Gordon: Positional transition set for weekend

Gordon, who took grounders at second base for a second consecutive day before Wednesday's game, is expected to make the positional transition from center field sometime during the upcoming weekend series against the Tigers, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

The move is necessitated by Robinson Cano's 80-game suspension, with Gordon the natural candidate to fill in considering his multiple seasons of experience and Gold Glove at the position. The 30-year-old is expected to continue putting in infield work for the next couple of days in order to reacclimate to the speed of the ball off the bat at much closer proximity. With Gordon heading to second base, Guillermo Heredia is expected to see the majority of playing time in center field.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Anderson will not be in the lineup for Wednesday's game against Pittsburgh, Andy Masur of WGN Radio reports.

Anderson will sit for the first time this season as the White Sox are in the early stages of a 16-day stretch without a scheduled off day. In his place, Yolmer Sanchez will start at shortstop and Matt Davidson will man third base. Over 38 games this season, Anderson is hitting .239 with a .729 OPS, seven home runs, 11 RBI and 10 stolen bases.

  • Mariners' Dee Gordon: Taking grounders at second

Gordon is taking grounders at second base in anticipation of a possible position change, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Gordon, who made the transition to center field this season when he was traded to the Mariners, could be switching back to second base after Robinson Cano (finger) was popped with an 80-game suspension for failing a drug test. This shouldn't really have an effect on his fantasy value for this season, as he's already eligible at the keystone in most leagues thanks to his work there in 2017.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Blue Jays' Aledmys Diaz: Resumes hitting

Diaz (ankle) began a hitting progression Tuesday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Diaz continues to ramp up his activity as he slowly works his way back from a sprained ankle. He also began running lightly. While Diaz is making solid progress in his recovery, the 27-year-old remains without a timetable for his return. For now, Richard Urena and Giovanny Urshela will continue to man shortstop in his stead.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Breaks skid at plate

Bichette went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs for Double-A New Hampshire in its 10-5 win over Hartford on Monday.

The three hits matched Bichette's total from the previous six games combined, spelling an end to the young shortstop's longest slump of the season. While it was good to see Bichette turn in a solid performance to lift his on-base percentage to a respectable .353 for the campaign, he hasn't been able to replicate the power production he delivered during his first two professional seasons. The 20-year-old has yet to hit a home run through 150 plate appearances and carries a .403 slugging percentage, a 162-point drop from the mark he posted between two levels of A-ball in 2017.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Rays' Joey Wendle: Takes seat against lefty

Wendle is out of the lineup Monday against the Royals, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

As per usual, Wendle will take a seat on the bench with a southpaw (Eric Skoglund) starting for the opposition. Daniel Robertson will start at the keystone and hit fifth in his stead.

  • Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA

Twins' Ehire Adrianza: Hits bench Sunday

Adrianza is out of the lineup Sunday against the Angels, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

With Miguel Sano (hamstring) sidelined since late April, Adrianza has received the majority of the starts at shortstop while Eduardo Escobar has shifted over to Sano's normal post at third base. Though he'll be given the day off Sunday, Adrianza still looks to have some leash in the full-time role with Sano having yet to officially begin a minor-league rehab assignment. Gregorio Petit will receive the nod at shortstop in the series finale.

  • Mariners' Dee Gordon: Scuffles in return to action

Gordon (toe) went 0-for-7 with an RBI from a sacrifice fly and a walk in a doubleheader against the Tigers on Saturday.

Gordon had missed Thursday's series finale against the Blue Jays with a bruised toe and then had seen his planned Friday return postponed due to weather. He could only muster a sacrifice fly in the first game of Saturday's twin bill, but he still sported an impressive .366 average over 43 May plate appearances heading into Sunday's action.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Rays' Joey Wendle: Hits safely in both twin-bill games

Wendle went a combined 4-for-7 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run in Saturday's doubleheader versus the Orioles.

The versatile infielder continues to make his mark, with his average sitting right on .300 after his successful Saturday. Wendle has now exceeded his previous career high of 104 major-league plate appearances that he'd logged with the Athletics back in 2016, and he appears set for solid playing time over the balance of the season given the superior production he's churned out thus far.

  • Indians' Francisco Lindor: Fills box score Saturday

Lindor went 4-for-4 with two home runs, two doubles, four runs scored and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Royals.

Lindor extended his hitting streak to 13 games with his first-inning double off Jakob Junis, a stretch during which he's gone a remarkable 27-for-58 (.465) with eight homers, 18 runs, 13 RBI and a 5:8 BB:K. He added another double and a homer of Junis before capping his four-hit day with a long ball of Kevin McCarthy. Saturday's performance boosted Lindor's average to a season-high .311.
