Emerging Diamondbacks shortstop Chris Owings produced his fifth game of three hits or more since May 17 with a three-hit game Tuesday night in Colorado.
Owings achieved the feat in style with a double, triple and solo homer in the fourth inning. His slugging percentage now stands at .436, its highest point since April 3.

Cliff Pennington will require surgery on thumb
Diamondbacks infielder Cliff Pennington will require surgery to repair ligament damage in his left thumb, the Arizona Republic reports Tuesday.
Manager Kirk Gibson said Pennington will miss up to two months as a result of the procedure, though it is not yet clear when he will go under the knife. Pennington was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday.
