Dee Gordon enters break with MLB lead in steals
Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon swiped a league-high 43 bases over the first half of the season while hitting .292/.344/.398 in 359 at-bats.
If Gordon can remain healthy and in the lineup while keeping up his pace, he's on track to become the first players in the majors since 2009 to reach 70 steals. The last National League player to get to 70 stolen bases was Jose Reyes in 2007, when he racked up 78 steals, which was the highest steals count since Marquis Grissom managed the same in 1992. If Gordon can increase his pace slightly, he could become the first player since 1988 to steal 80 bases in a season.

Chris Owings to miss all of Padres series
Diamondbacks shortstop Chris Owings will not play until he can visit with team doctors in Arizona, as he continues to deal with a sore left shoulder.
Owings told MLB.com the shoulder has not responded to treatment, and he will sit out Sunday's series finale in San Diego. He will travel to Arizona to be examined by a doctor, putting his status for the series beginning in Pittsburgh Tuesday up in the air as well.
The injury has been bothered Owings for more than a week, as he thinks he suffered it June 20 against the Giants. He has not played since Wednesday, and the injury has not gotten better with time off.
"It's been feeling better, but just taking swings it just kind of aggravates it a little bit," Owings said. "It's just not responding. I'm not really sure what happened."
