Chris Owings SS | LAD
Diamondbacks' Chris Owings: Could return for season's final series
Owings (finger) could be ready to come off the 60-day disabled list for the Diamondbacks' series in Kansas City at the end of September, Jack Magruder of FanRagSports.com reports.
Owings is eligible to return Sept. 29, and if he's able to return at that time, it would give him an opportunity to showcase his stuff prior to the playoffs. His defensive versatility and power/speed combo on offense would be a valuable addition if Owings proves he's healthy and doesn't show significant rust. While this is a good sign for Owings' overall health, he likely won't be much use in single-season leagues even if he gets back before the end of the season.

Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Out of lineup Wednesday
Rojas is not in the lineup Wednesday against Philadelphia.
Rojas receives a day off after starting the past four games, racking up six hits and five RBI during those contests. Mike Aviles gets the nod in his place while batting eighth.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Hits second Wednesday
Swanson is batting second for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
This marks the first time that Swanson is near the top of the order since batting second against the Dodgers on July 20. With Ender Inciarte battling a minor thumb injury, Swanson will get a bigger role in the Braves' lineup for Wednesday's contest.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Marlins' Dee Gordon: Extends hitting streak to 15 games Tuesday
Gordon went 3-for-7 with a run scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Phillies.
He extended his hitting streak to 15 games, and Gordon is slashing .409/.426/.515 over that stretch with six steals and 11 runs. With Billy Hamilton (thumb) likely out for the remainder of the year, Gordon has a shot at claiming the league's stolen-base crown, as his 52 puts him six behind Hamilton with 18 games left on the Marlins' schedule.

Paul DeJong SS | DET
Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Two extra-base hits Tuesday
DeJong went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Tuesday's 13-4 win over the Reds.
DeJong struck out in his first at-bat, but took off from there with hits in each of his next three. The highlights of his night were a second-inning RBI double and a solo homer in the sixth. While he's now churned out multiple hits in three of his past four games, DeJong had accrued only one RBI in his previous eight games before this effort.

Brandon Crawford SS | STL
Giants' Brandon Crawford: Receives breather Tuesday
Crawford is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.
Crawford will be given the night off against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers after starting 14 consecutive games. Kelby Tomlinson will fill the void at shortstop and bat eighth in his stead.
-
Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Takes seat Tuesday
Arcia is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
Arcia will head to the bench following eight straight starts as Eric Sogard takes over at shortstop. While the 23-year-old Arcia has shown more growth at the plate this season than many expected, he's been up and down since the All-Star break, and he will likely continue to sit once a week or so as the Brewers look to keep Sogard, Hernan Perez and Jonathan Villar involved.

Trea Turner SS | PHI
Nationals' Trea Turner: Pops ninth homer Sunday
Turner went 2-for-4 with a triple, a solo home run and a second run scored in Sunday's win over the Phillies.
The 24-year-old appears to have finally shaken off the last of his rust following his lengthy DL stay, going 8-for-20 over the last five games with five extra-base hits (two doubles, a triple and two homers). The Nats have now clinched the NL East title, so there could be more rest days coming for Turner and the rest of the starters as the team looks ahead to October, but he should be a force at the top of the order when he is in the lineup.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Marlins' Dee Gordon: Day off Sunday
Gordon is out of the lineup Sunday against the Braves, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Miami's quick second baseman will get the day off while Mike Aviles fills in and hits seventh. Over his last six games, Gordon went 8-for-27 (.296), scored three runs and picked up two stolen bases.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Out of Sunday lineup
Swanson is out of the lineup for Sunday's matchup versus Miami.
Swanson has started each game since being recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Aug. 9. In that time Swanson has shown drastic improvement from how he started the season, as he's notched a .320/.437/.433 line over the last 30 games. He'll get the day off while Johan Camargo covers shortstop and hits seventh. The Braves don't play Monday, so look for Swanson to return to the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals.
