Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Marlins' Dee Gordon: Returns to leadoff spot
Gordon will play second base and bat leadoff Sunday against the Braves.
Gordon had served as the Marlins' No. 9 hitter in the previous four contests, going 3-for-14 with two stolen bases during that span. While the demotion in the order didn't appear to ignite Gordon as a hitter, manager Don Mattingly evidently determined the Marlins missed Gordon's speed at the top of the lineup. Derek Dietrich, who had recorded hits in each of his three starts in the leadoff spot, will move down to No. 6 in the order to accommodate Gordon's move upward.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Slowly building momentum at plate
Swanson went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Saturday's win over the Marlins.
After striking out on three straight changeups in his first at-bat against Edinson Volquez, Swanson made an adjustment and singled home what proved to be the winning run in the fourth inning on another cambio from Volquez. The young shortstop now has a modest five-game hitting streak, and despite his awful .169/.250/.229 line through 32 games the Braves remain confident that Swanson will turn things around in his first full major-league season.

Trea Turner SS | PHI
Nationals' Trea Turner: Hits third round-tripper
Turner went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run during Saturday's win over Philadelphia.
While Turner's .257/.297/.438 slash line doesn't jump off the page, he has 19 runs, 13 extra-base hits, 15 RBI and six stolen bases through just 25 games. Setting the table for a potent offense provides a high fantasy floor, and Turner's cross-category profile also presents tremendous upside.

Chris Owings SS | LAD
Diamondbacks' Chris Owings: Takes seat Saturday
Owings is not starting Saturday's game against the Pirates.
The Diamondbacks will opt to start Nick Ahmed at shortstop and send Owings to the bench Saturday night. Ahmed has yet to sit out consecutive games this season, so look for him to return to action for Sunday's outing versus Pittsburgh.

Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Sits out Friday
Arcia is not in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Mets.
Arcia only has a pair of hits in his past four starts, so he'll head to the bench for another day off. Recent callup Eric Sogard will take over at shortstop for the evening.

Luis Sardinas SS | WAS
Padres' Luis Sardinas: Collects two hits in start Thursday
Sardinas received a rare start Thursday, going 2-for-4 in a loss to the Rangers.
With the Padres visiting an American League club, the team was afforded an extra batter and Sardinas was the one to benefit Thursday. San Diego has another AL-road series against the White Sox coming up, so the 23-year-old could see another start in short order. That said, his .195/.250/.195 slash line in 44 plate appearances this season makes him an undesirable option even if he were to be penciled into the lineup.

Nick Noonan SS | TEX
Marlins' Nick Noonan: Traded to Marlins
Noonan was traded to the Marlins on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Miami's infield has been gutted by injuries, so they needed to add some warm bodies to the New Orleans roster to replace all the players recently called up to the majors. Noonan was hitting just .212/.235/.333 in 10 games for Triple-A Colorado Springs prior to switching organizations.

Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU
Cardinals' Aledmys Diaz: Snaps three-game slump with multi-hit effort
Diaz went 2-for-5 with an RBI single in Wednesday's 7-5 win over the Marlins, snapping an 0-for-14 slump that spanned the previous three games.
The Cuban shortstop broke out of his funk with his fifth multi-hit game of May. Despite his struggles in the prior three games and another 0-for-4 outing on May 2, Diaz is still hitting .341 with a pair of doubles, one home run, seven RBI and five runs over his first 41 at-bats of the month.

Brandon Crawford SS | STL
Giants' Brandon Crawford: Returns to action Thursday
Crawford (groin) is starting at shortstop and hitting fourth Thursday against the Reds, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
As planned, Crawford was activated from the disabled list and is in the lineup for Thursday's outing. Crawford missed 14 games with a groin injury, but will look to elevate his .263 batting average and .718 OPS on Thursday night.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Rockies' Trevor Story: Placed on disabled list
Story was placed on the DL on Thursday with a strained left shoulder, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Story was withheld from Wednesday's lineup, and it would appear that his shoulder injury was the contributing factor behind his absence. Story's season has gotten off to a slow start, as he's slashing .180/.289/.396 and owns a dismal 37.5 percent K-rate. The Rockies have yet to elaborate on the severity of Story's injury, but more information should become available soon. With Story on the disabled list, look for Pat Valaika and Alexi Amarista to see time at shortstop.
