  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Swipes base Saturday

Swanson went 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's split-squad game against the Marlins.

He's a robust 7-for-16 (.438) to begin the spring, with one home run and one stolen base. Swanson is showing every sign of being ready to build on his impressive big league debut in 2016, when he slashed .302/.361/.442 in 38 games.

  • Gavin Cecchini SS | NYM

Mets' Gavin Cecchini: Drives in two Saturday

Cecchini went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros.

He's been getting a long look at second base through camp so far, and with Neil Walker's contract talks stalled, another big season at Triple-A Las Vegas could make Cecchini a strong option to take over the keystone for the Mets in 2018. His 2017 fantasy value will depend on injuries opening up a spot in the big league infield, however.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Dealing with stiff back

Seager will take the day off Saturday due to stiffness in his upper back, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The issue doesn't appear to be anything serious, but the Dodgers will hold Seager out of action Saturday as a precaution. Consider the All-Star day-to-day until the team says otherwise.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Returning to lineup

Seager (shin) is back in the Dodgers' Cactus League lineup Friday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

After tests came back clear on his shin, the elite shortstop will return to action. The 22-year-old Seager ranks as a borderline first-round pick in mixed fantasy drafts.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Nationals' Trea Turner: Swipes two bases Thursday

Turner went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and his first two stolen bases of the spring in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros.

He's just 2-for-11 to begin the spring, but both Turner's hits have gone for extra bases. The 23-year-old could have an adjustment period with his glove to begin the season as he settles in as the Nats' starting shortstop, but his bat and legs should remain very productive from the top of the order.

  • Braves' Chase d'Arnaud: Dealing with flu-like symptoms

D'Arnaud has been battling the flu in recent days, David O'Brien of the AJC reports.

The team has yet to announce how long D'Arnaud will be shelved with the illness, but O'Brien reports that the bug has hit a couple of players in the Braves' clubhouse. His temporary absence will likely lead to more at-bats for the likes of Dansby Swanson and Jace Peterson in exhibition games.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Goes yard Wednesday

Rojas hit a three-run home run and a sacrifice fly in two trips to the plate during Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros.

He's got just three home runs in 485 at-bats in the majors, but Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports that Rojas spent the offseason trying to add more loft to his swing after he grounded into 10 double plays in 2016, and at least for one meaningless preseason game those efforts paid off. The 28-year-old will begin the season on the Marlins' bench, and even in deep NL-only leagues, would only be worth a fantasy roster spot if injuries hit the team's infield.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Expected back in action Friday

X-rays on Seager's injured shin returned negative and manager Dave Roberts suggested Wednesday evening that he is expected to rejoin the lineup Friday, Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reports.

This is a positive sign for the Dodgers and fantasy owners alike, as Seager appears to have avoided any serious damage. Assuming he stays healthy, the 22-year-old shortstop figures to place among the elite at his position in the league again in 2017.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Fouls pitch off shin

Seager fouled a pitch off his right shin but said he will return to the lineup Friday, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.

He fouled the pitch off his shin, just above his protective guard. It sounds like a minor ailment, and he should be back in action this weekend.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Returns to lineup following hip surgery

Ahmed (hip) is 1-for-4 over two Cactus League games.

Ahmed underwent hip surgery in August but has successfully rehabbed himself back to full health. Ahmed was used as a pinch hitter in one of the games he played in, but played multiple innings at shortstop in the other. If he stays healthy, Ahmed could leverage a solid spring showing into regular appearances at shortstop in the upcoming season.
