Rockies' Trevor Story: Returns to action Monday

Story (finger) is back in the lineup Monday against the Giants, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.

Story has given way to Cristhian Adames at shortstop for four straight games, but his bruised fingers appears healthy enough for the emerging star to return to action Monday. He'll bat fifth in the order, following the one-two punch of Nolan Arenado and Carlos Gonzalez.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Three hits in Sunday's loss

Baez went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's blowout loss to the Mets.

He was the only Cubs starter to record multiple hits Sunday as Noah Syndergaard stifled the rest of the lineup for seven innings. Baez is now hitting a solid .275/.314/.456 on the season as he looks to finally establish himself as a fixture on the North Side.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Cardinals' Aledmys Diaz: Smashes 11th homer of year Sunday

Diaz went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and two walks Sunday against the Brewers.

Diaz left the yard for the 11th time this year in the first inning to give the Cardinals an early lead in a game they'd go on to win. After hitting safely in 10 of his last 11 games, he's slashing .317/.377/.530 on the season.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Rockies' Trevor Story: Remains out of the lineup Sunday

Story (finger) remains out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.

Story will be held out of the starting lineup for the fourth straight game, once again giving way to Cristhian Adames at shortstop. The team remains optimistic Story can avoid the DL, but he's far from a lock to start Monday's series opener against the Giants.

Rockies' Trevor Story: Out of lineup Saturday

Story (finger) is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Cristhian Adames will get another start at shortstop Saturday while Story continues to rest his injured finger. Saturday will mark Story's third consecutive game out of the lineup, but there is still no indication at this point that he'll require a stint on the DL. Adames figures to continue to serve as the Colorado shortstop while Story is sidelined.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Plans to return Monday

Ahmed (paternity) plans on returning to the team for Monday's game against the Padres, Jody Jackson of FOX Sports Arizona reports.

Ahmed was placed on the paternity list earlier Saturday, and MLB rules state that he's allowed to miss up to three games while he's away from the team. However, it seems Ahmed intends to come back a day early instead of waiting the full three games. Jean Segura will take over at shortstop Saturday and could do so again for the series finale against the Giants, but Ahmed figures to be back in time for Monday's series opener against San Diego.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Placed on paternity list

Ahmed was placed on the paternity list Saturday.

By rule, Ahmed must miss at least three games and no more than seven games. Enrique Burgos was brought up in a corresponding move to bolster the team's bullpen depth while Ahmed is away. Phil Gosselin appears to be in line for a few starts at second base in the coming days with Jean Segura shifting to shortstop.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Draws day off Saturday

Baez is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.

Kris Bryant will take over at the hot corner Saturday while Willson Contreras slides to left field against Mets starter Bartolo Colon. Baez had made four straight starts coming into Saturday, going 7-for-21 with two home runs in that stretch.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Phillies' J.P. Crawford: Starting to hit at Triple-A

Crawford went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI on Friday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Crawford got off to a slow start after his promotion to Lehigh Valley, but seems to have turned the corner of late. Over his last 10 games, he is hitting .342 with two steals, four walks and two strikeouts. He should get a look with the Phillies in September and will likely compete for a starting job in the majors next spring.

  • Braves' Chase d'Arnaud: Blasts first homer of year Friday

d'Arnaud went 2-for-6 with a two-run homer Friday against the Marlins.

d'Arnaud's first homer of the year gave the Braves the lead in the fifth inning after trailing until that point. After not driving in a run in seven straight games, he's now driven in multiple runs in each of his last two contests.
