  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Jose Berrios: Knocked around by Marlins

Berrios (16-11) allowed six runs on six hits and three walks over three innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against Miami.

Berrios never found his footing and was chased early. He coughed up three runs in the first inning and two more in the second. His wild pitch in the third inning allowed a sixth run to score before he left the contest. Berrios had allowed two or fewer earned runs in eight straight starts before Friday's hiccup. Despite the poor outing, he posted a strong 2.95 ERA in 12 starts after the All-Star break. Overall, he finished his 2024 campaign with a 3.60 ERA and a 153:54 K:BB through 192.1 innings.

  • Carlos Rodon SP | NYY

Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Walks four in no-decision

Rodon allowed two runs on four hits and four walks over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out five during the loss to Pittsburgh.

Rodon worked through five scoreless frames before coughing up back-to-back solo homers to Nick Gonzales and Bryan Reynolds in the sixth inning. It was just the third time that Rodon walked four or more batters out of his 32 starts this season. On the bright side, he forced 17 whiffs, including eight with his fastball. Rodon threw at least five innings in each of his last seven starts, posting a 2.68 ERA during that span. He ends the 2024 regular season with a 3.96 ERA and a 195:57 K:BB through 175 frames.

  • Yuli Gurriel 1B | KC

Royals' Yuli Gurriel: Posts steal in loss

Gurriel went 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 3-0 loss to Atlanta.

Playing against the team that traded him in a minor-league deal at the end of August, the 40-year-old Gurriel was able to log his first steal of the year. The infielder has ably plugged a hole in the lineup for the Royals, batting .260 over 17 games. He's added six RBI, seven runs scored and three doubles while seeing most of his playing time between first base and designated hitter. Gurriel is unlikely to be an everyday option with Salvador Perez often filling in at first base, and Gurriel could find himself on the bench in the postseason if Vinnie Pasquantino (thumb) becomes an option should the Royals make a deep run.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Notches 41st steal

Ramirez went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Astros.

Ramirez was held hitless for just the fifth time in September over 24 games. He's batting .295 (28-for-95) this month while adding seven steals on 10 attempts. Ramirez has a career-high 41 steals this season, but his pursuit of a 40-40 campaign is running out of time -- he's at 38 homers with two games left on the schedule. The third baseman has added a .277/.334/.530 slash line, 115 RBI, 113 runs scored, 38 doubles and two triples over 157 games, matching his career high in games played for the third time, having previously reached the mark in 2018 and 2022.

  • Zack Gelof 2B | OAK

Athletics' Zack Gelof: Reaches 25-steal mark

Gelof went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 2-0 loss to the Mariners.

Gelof's bat has faded late in the season -- he's 6-for-40 (.150) over his last 11 games with two steals in that span. The second baseman is up to 25 steals on 28 attempts this year, offering some positives with his speed despite a difficult campaign at the plate. He's added a .211/.271/.364 slash line with 17 home runs, 49 RBI, 59 runs scored, 20 doubles and two triples over 136 contests.

  • JP Sears SP | OAK

Athletics' JP Sears: Quality start in loss

Sears (11-13) allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out four over six innings to take the loss Friday versus the Mariners.

Sears ended the season with four losses in his last five starts, allowing 17 runs across 29 innings in September. He recorded 13 quality starts in 32 outings this season, including six quality starts since the beginning of August. Sears concludes the campaign with a 4.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 137:49 K:BB across a career-high 180.2 innings as the Athletics' top starting pitcher.

  • Mitch Garver DH | SEA

Mariners' Mitch Garver: Smacks 15th homer

Garver went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-0 win over the Athletics.

Garver's second-inning homer was all the run support Bryan Woo needed. Garver is up to 15 homers this year, including three over his last seven games. The 33-year-old has mostly had a disappointing season for the Mariners, posting a .172/.286/.341 slash line with 51 RBI, 37 runs scored and 17 doubles across 113 contests.

  • Cal Raleigh C | SEA

Mariners' Cal Raleigh: Goes yard Friday

Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-0 win over the Athletics.

Raleigh has been consistent lately, going 12-for-40 (.300) over his last nine games. The catcher leads all major-league backstops with 32 homers this year, four ahead of the Athletics' Shea Langeliers. Raleigh has added a .218/.312/.426 slash line, 97 RBI, 70 runs scored and six stolen bases over 151 contests. While he's unlikely to hit for average over long spans, Raleigh is among the steadiest sources of power at the catcher position.

  • Troy Taylor RP | SEA

Mariners' Troy Taylor: Secures first save

Taylor allowed a hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Friday's 2-0 win over the Athletics.

It hasn't taken Taylor long to work his way into a high-leverage role. While he's been shaky at times, allowing five runs over his last nine innings, he has a save and six holds in that span. For the season, Taylor has a 2.95 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 23:7 K:BB across 18.1 innings in the majors. He collected 21 saves in 40 appearances between High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas prior to his promotion to the majors this year, so it's possible the Mariners view him as a future closing option.

  • Bryan Woo SP | SEA

Mariners' Bryan Woo: Finishes season on high note

Woo (9-3) allowed three hits and a walk while striking out eight over five shutout innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Friday.

Woo kept a scoreless line for the first time since Aug. 14 in his final start of the season. The 24-year-old had seven scoreless starts in 22 outings this season, establishing himself as a high-end starter with an emphasis on elite control in his second major-league campaign. He ends the year with a 2.89 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 101:13 K:BB over 121.1 innings.
