  • Tayler Scott RP | HOU

Astros' Tayler Scott: Plays catch Tuesday

Scott (back) played catch in the outfield at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Scott just landed on the 15-day injured list over the weekend with a thoracic spine strain, so it's a good sign that he's already throwing again. He will not be eligible to return before the end of the regular season, but the Astros are hoping to have him available as an option at some point during the playoffs.

  • Eloy Jimenez DH | BAL

Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Accepts move to Triple-A

Jimenez accepted Baltimore's decision to option him to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Jimenez had to approve the move to the minors due to his MLB service time, and he'll stick in the Orioles organization for the time being. The 27-year-old played in 33 games since being acquired from the White Sox and posted a .232/.270/.316 slash line with one homer in 100 plate appearances. Jimenez has a $16.5 million club option for 2025, but Baltimore is likely to pay the $3 million buyout.

  • MJ Melendez LF | KC

Royals' MJ Melendez: Not in lineup against lefty

Melendez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Nationals.

The left-handed hitting Melendez will yield to Tommy Pham in left field as southpaw Mitchell Parker toes the rubber for the Nationals. Melendez has been out of the lineup all four times the Royals have faced a lefty this month.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Back from injured list Tuesday

The Orioles reinstated Mountcastle (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

The 27-year-old has been sidelined for the past month due to a sprained left wrist, but he's ready to rejoin Baltimore after a three-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk. Mountcastle was in the midst of a 3-for-22 slump prior to the injury, and he also struggled during the rehab stint with just one hit and six strikeouts in 11 at-bats. He is not in Tuesday's lineup versus the Yankees, as Ryan O'Hearn will be at first base.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Out versus southpaw

Massey is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.

It's southpaw Mitchell Parker on the bump for the Nationals, so the left-handed hitting Massey will grab a seat. Garrett Hampson is handling second base for the Royals.

  • Trevor Larnach LF | MIN

Twins' Trevor Larnach: Not in lineup versus lefty

Larnach is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Marlins.

The lefty-batting Larnach will begin the game on the bench as the Marlins send southpaw Ryan Weathers to the bump. Willi Castro will be the Twins' left fielder and Jose Miranda will occupy the designated hitter slot.

  • Matt Wallner RF | MIN

Twins' Matt Wallner: Out against left-hander

Wallner is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Marlins.

Lefty Ryan Weathers will toe the rubber for the Marlins, so the left-handed-hitting Wallner will begin the contest on the bench. Jose Miranda will be the Twins' designated hitter and Manuel Margot will play right field.

  • Shawn Dubin RP | HOU

    Astros' Shawn Dubin: Rejoins bullpen

The Astros recalled Dubin from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Dubin has posted a 4.15 ERA and 45:26 K:BB over 43.1 frames with the Astros this season. The 29-year-old right-hander will give the club a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Seth Martinez RP | HOU

Astros' Seth Martinez: Sent back to minors

The Astros optioned Martinez to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Martinez had pitched two of the last three days, including Monday, and allowed four runs over 2.1 innings. He'll be replaced on the roster by fellow reliever Shawn Dubin.

  • Steven Zobac SP | KC

Royals' Steven Zobac: Strikeout rate jumps at Double-A

Zobac notched a 3.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 65:14 K:BB in 55.1 innings across 11 appearances for Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Zobac was effective earlier in the year with High-A Quad Cities (3.95 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) but his strikeout rate jumped from 20 percent to 28.6 percent after his July 9 promotion to Double-A. While the 23-year-old righty may not have a true plus pitch, he has never logged a walk rate higher than 7.1 percent and built up to 126 innings this year. Zobac projects to be a No. 4 or No. 5 starter, but he could exceed that projection if his changeup improves or if he adds a tick to his low-90s fastball that already has good movement.
