The Mariners recalled Ortiz from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Ortiz has earned his first big-league promotion after collecting a 1.69 ERA and 18:12 K:BB over 16 innings with Tacoma. The 26-year-old lefty will likely be ticketed for low-leverage work out of the Seattle bullpen.

Palacios is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

After he had been included in the lineup in each of the last four games while the Rays faced right-handed starters, the left-handed-hitting Palacios will take a seat against Orioles southpaw Trevor Rogers in the series opener. Carson Williams will spell Palacios at second base and will bat ninth.

Feduccia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Feduccia will hit the bench for the second day in a row, but he had started in three of the Rays' previous four matchups versus right-handed pitchers. Nick Fortes will get the nod at catcher Monday against Orioles southpaw Trevor Rogers as the Rays run a loose platoon behind the plate.

Scherzer (forearm/thumb/ankle) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Monday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Scherzer is working his way back from ankle, forearm and thumb issues and required cortisone injections to combat each of the latter two injuries. He will continue ramping up his throwing as his body allows, but a timeline for his return won't be available until he gets farther along. Scherzer has been sidelined since late April.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said that Williamson is not in the lineup for Monday's game versus the Orioles due to back tightness, Ryan Bass of Rays.tv reports.

Williamson hasn't played since last Friday and hasn't started a game since last Tuesday, though it's unclear whether it's the back issue that's kept him out during that stretch. Cash noted that Williamson felt improvement Monday, but the manager also didn't rule out a stint on the injured list. Consider Williamson day-to-day for now.

Taveras is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.

Taveras will hit the bench Monday following a productive three-game series in Washington over the weekend in which he went 3-for-7 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs. Blaze Alexander will replace Taveras in center field on Monday.

Basallo is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.

Though Orioles manager Craig Albernaz told Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun a week ago that the left-handed-hitting Basallo had "earned the right" to face southpaws, the 21-year-old will end up being excluded from the lineup for the third time in four matchups with lefty starters since Albernaz made that comment. Adley Rutschman will start behind the plate, Coby Mayo will cover first base and Pete Alonso will serve as Baltimore's designated hitter Monday while southpaw Shane McClanahan takes the hill for Tampa Bay.

Wilson (shoulder) remains in the strengthening and stabilization portion of his rehab, Jason Burke of SI.com reports.

Wilson suffered a left shoulder subluxation a little over a week ago and is still in the early stages of the rehab process. Once the Athletics are satisfied with the strengthening work Wilson has done on his shoulder, he will be cleared to resume baseball activities. There is no timetable for Wilson's return to the active roster. With Wilson sidelined, Darell Hernaiz has been filling in at shortstop.

Muncy (hand) has begun a swinging progression, Jason Burke of SI.com reports.

Muncy was placed on the 10-day injured list nearly three weeks ago with a fractured fifth metacarpal in his left hand, and he's finally ready to start ramping up his rehab. The young infielder will need to go out on a rehab assignment before rejoining the Athletics' active roster, and it's unclear how soon he might be ready for that. Zack Gelof has been filling in at third base in Muncy's stead.

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Monday that Fraley (hernia) will require surgery and will face a recovery timeline of 6-to-8 weeks, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Tampa Bay placed Fraley on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to the hernia, but it wasn't immediately clear whether the outfielder would need surgery to address the matter. Now that the Rays have confirmed Fraley will need a procedure, he appears likely to remain on the shelf through the All-Star break. Jonny DeLuca and Ryan Vilade likely represent the top candidates to see added opportunities in right field while Fraley is shelved, and utility player Richie Palacios also looms as an option to see more work in the outfield.
