Mariners' Brennen Davis: Added to roster and optioned

The Mariners selected Davis' contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Davis could have opted out of his minor-league contract, but the Mariners have elected to add the outfielder to their 40-man roster to prevent that from happening. The 26-year-old is sitting on a .281/.394/.548 batting line with eight home runs and a 20:38 BB:K over 38 contests with Tacoma this season. Davis has yet to appear in a major-league game.

  • Leonardo Rivas 3B | SEA

Mariners' Leo Rivas: Optioned to Tacoma

The Mariners optioned Rivas to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Rivas had been in the lineup for only four of the Mariners' past 10 games. The slick-fielding infielder has managed just a .131/.263/.172 batting line in 38 contests for Seattle this season.

  • Mariners' Domingo Gonzalez: Sent down to minors

The Mariners optioned Gonzalez to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Gonzalez is unscored upon in four relief outings for Seattle this season but nonetheless finds himself jettisoned back to the minors. Robinson Ortiz will absorb his spot on the roster and in the bullpen.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Mariners' Patrick Wisdom: Activated from injured list

The Mariners activated Wisdom (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Wisdom was shelved for the last month of action with a left oblique strain but has been deemed ready to roll after playing eight rehab contests with Triple-A Tacoma. The 34-year-old is likely to serve primarily in a reserve role for Seattle.

  • Jonny DeLuca RF | TB

Rays' Jonny DeLuca: Playing time on rise

DeLuca will start in center field and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Rays have deployed DeLuca as a short-side platoon player for most of the season, but he could get the chance to play more regularly against right-handed pitching after Jake Fraley (hernIa) was placed on the injured list Sunday. Though he'll be included in the lineup against Orioles lefty Trevor Rogers on Monday, DeLuca started versus righties in the final two games of the Rays' weekend series versus Miami.

  • Rays' Cedric Mullins: Heading to bench Monday

Mullins is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Rays will hold the left-handed-hitting Mullins out of the lineup for the series opener and instead turn to Jonny DeLuca in center field while southpaw Trevor Rogers takes the hill for the Orioles. Mullins started in each of the last seven games and begun to show some life at the plate after a dismal start to the season. He recorded eight hits -- including a home run -- and stole three bases while posting a 3:4 BB:K during that seven-game stretch.

  • Robinson Ortiz RP | SEA

Mariners' Robinson Ortiz: Moves up from Triple-A

The Mariners recalled Ortiz from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.

Ortiz has earned his first big-league promotion after collecting a 1.69 ERA and 18:12 K:BB over 16 innings with Tacoma. The 26-year-old lefty will likely be ticketed for low-leverage work out of the Seattle bullpen.

  • Rays' Richie Palacios: Idle against lefty

Palacios is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

After he had been included in the lineup in each of the last four games while the Rays faced right-handed starters, the left-handed-hitting Palacios will take a seat against Orioles southpaw Trevor Rogers in the series opener. Carson Williams will spell Palacios at second base and will bat ninth.

  • Rays' Hunter Feduccia: On bench versus lefty

Feduccia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Feduccia will hit the bench for the second day in a row, but he had started in three of the Rays' previous four matchups versus right-handed pitchers. Nick Fortes will get the nod at catcher Monday against Orioles southpaw Trevor Rogers as the Rays run a loose platoon behind the plate.

  • Max Scherzer SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Max Scherzer: Throws bullpen session

Scherzer (forearm/thumb/ankle) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session Monday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Scherzer is working his way back from ankle, forearm and thumb issues and required cortisone injections to combat each of the latter two injuries. He will continue ramping up his throwing as his body allows, but a timeline for his return won't be available until he gets farther along. Scherzer has been sidelined since late April.
