Astros' Cam Smith: Strikes for two homers in loss
Smith went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in a loss to the Twins on Monday.
Smith accounted for Houston's only run off Minnesota starter Zebby Matthews with a solo blast to left field in the fifth inning. With the Astros down to their last out in the ninth, Smith struck again, clubbing a solo shot off closer Yoendrys Gomez to bring his team within a run. Smith missed Sunday's game against Detroit due to a sore foot, but he looked none the worse for wear upon his return to the lineup. Of the outfielder's past six hits, four have left the park, bringing him up to 11 homers through 85 contests on the campaign. That's a big improvement over the nine long balls he swatted across 134 regular-season contests during his rookie 2025 season.

Astros' Cam Smith: Nursing sore foot
Astros manager Joe Espada said that Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers due to a sore foot, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Smith fouled a ball off his foot during Saturday's 8-6 win, so the Astros will give him a day out of the lineup to recuperate. Espada didn't seem overly concerned about Smith's foot, noting that the 23-year-old outfielder should be available off the bench, if needed.

Astros' Cam Smith: Lifts seventh homer
Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Angels.
Smith had gone 10 games without a homer before lifting a solo shot off Chase Silseth in the eighth inning to tie the game at 2-2. During that power drought, Smith still had three extra-base hits and four RBI. The outfielder has endured a bit of a sophomore slump in 2026, batting .220 with a .675 OPS, seven homers, 26 RBI, 27 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 69 contests. While his numbers aren't particularly impressive, he continues to handle a starting role in right field.

After briefly losing some playing time in the Houston outfield, Smith has now started nine consecutive games and is slashing .221/.312/.358 with six homers, 21 RBI, 25 runs scored, seven stolen bases and a 22:59 BB:K across 219 plate appearances.
