The Padres placed King on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Monday, with left knee inflammation.

King was set to take the mound against the Dodgers on Friday but will instead return to the injured list after coming back from a shoulder injury Aug. 9. He was able to make just one start after being activated from the IL, during which he tossed 57 pitches over two frames in his first start since mid-May. In a corresponding move, the Padres recalled Randy Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.

Nola (ribs) will return from the injured list to start Sunday's game against the Nationals, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Nola has looked sharp during his three rehab starts with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, posting a 2.19 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 12.1 frames and most recently surrendering two runs in 5.2 innings while punching out 11 batters and walking zero. The 32-year-old will aim to keep his hot stretch going during his first MLB start since mid-May while facing the Nationals, who have posted just a .688 OPS since the All-Star break. Additionally, the Phillies plan to move to a six-man rotation once they activate Nola, which will help keep him and the rest of Philadelphia's starters well rested for the stretch run.

Brujan will start in right field and bat seventh in Thursday's contest versus the Mets.

A recent waiver claim, Brujan might have passed Eli White in the pecking order in right field, as he's now started three of the last five games overall and three of the last four against right-handed pitching. However, it could be a moot point, as Ronald Acuna (calf) is due back any day now from the injured list. Brujan is 1-for-4 with a 1:4 K:BB in his first two games with Atlanta.

White is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets.

He's now been on the bench in favor of Vidal Brujan -- who will get another start in right field Thursday -- in three of the past five contests. White is 0-for-14 with nine strikeouts over his last five games, and with Ronald Acuna's (calf) return imminent, White's playing time is about to slip even more.

Marte isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Marte has collected a hit in each of his last four games while going 7-for-17 with a pair of homers, but he'll step out of the starting nine Thursday. Ronny Mauricio will act as New York's designated hitter instead and bat seventh.

Alvarez isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta.

Alvarez will grab a seat for Thursday's series finale after going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Wednesday's contest. Luis Torrens will catch instead for starter Kodai Senga and bat ninth.

Suzuki is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Toronto.

Suzuki is sporting just a .182/.312/.286 batting line with two home runs in 22 contests since the All-Star break. Owen Caissie is in the designated-hitter spot in his major-league debut Thursday, and while it's unlikely Caissie will displace Suzuki in the lineup on a regular basis, he could eat into the latter's playing time a bit as the Cubs look to jumpstart a sluggish offense.

Crow-Armstrong is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in Toronto.

Crow-Armstrong has had a dreadful start to August, going 3-for-41 with a 15:0 K:BB. He will get a breather Thursday to regroup while Willi Castro patrols center field for the Cubs.

The Nationals activated Crews (oblique) from the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Crews is finally ready to rejoin the active roster after missing almost three months with a left oblique strain. The 23-year-old had been a major disappointment before getting hurt, slashing .196/.266/.354 with seven home runs, 11 stolen bases and a 27.7 percent strikeout rate. Still, the upside with Crews warrants scooping him back up in fantasy leagues where he's available.

Assad is slated to start Sunday's game against the Pirates at Wrigley Field, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Assad had spent the entire season on the shelf while recovering from a left oblique strain before he returned from the 60-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays. The right-hander endured a rough 2025 debut, taking a loss while allowing four earned runs on eight hits and one walk over four innings. Though Assad will be in line for at least one more start Sunday, his stay in the big-league rotation could soon come to an end with Jameson Taillon (calf) tracking toward a return from the injured list next week.
