Contreras (hand) underwent X-rays after exiting Tuesday's contest in Pittsburg, which came back negative, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Contreras is considered day-to-day as he avoided any structural damage after being struck in the left hand by a fastball from Paul Skenes in the fourth inning Tuesday. With the Cardinals set to finish their series against the Pirates on Wednesday before an off day Thursday, it's possible that the 33-year-old could be held out until Friday's series opener at Wrigley Field.

The Padres are expected to option Waldron to Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Waldron will be the roster casualty necessary to make room for Eduarniel Nunez, who is set to be selected from El Paso on Wednesday. Waldron struggled mightily during his season debut Monday, during which he gave up four runs in 4.2 innings, and he's put up a 5.24 ERA and 1.54 WHIP through 22.1 frames in Triple-A.

Nunez is set to be called up from Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Nunez will join the Padres ahead of the team's doubleheader with the Phillies. The right-hander has pitched 7.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and three walks while striking out 11 batters in seven appearances with El Paso since being promoted from Double-A San Antonio on June 10. Matt Waldron is expected to be sent down to El Paso in order to make room for Nunez with the big-league club.

Naylor (neck) was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Giants.

Naylor was set to make his return to the lineup after missing the last three games with neck stiffness, but he doesn't appear to have fully moved past the injury just yet. With Naylor on the bench again Tuesday, Pavin Smith will start at first base and Randal Grichuk will start at designated hitter.

Contreras (hand/wrist) exited Tuesday's contest against the Pirates in the bottom of the fourth inning, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.

Contreras was struck in the left hand/wrist by a 99.3 mph fastball from Paul Skenes to open the top of the fourth, ultimately remaining in the game for the rest of the Cardinals' time at-bat. The 33-year-old was replaced at first base by Alec Burleson while Garrett Hampson entered the game in right field. More information on the status of Contreras will likely come in the near future.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani is expected to make his next start as a pitcher Sunday versus the Astros, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Ohtani made his third start this past Saturday against the Royals, tossing two scoreless innings and 27 pitches as an opener. He could build up to three or four innings Sunday, but Justin Wrobleski is in line to work in bulk relief behind him and will be the Dodgers pitcher most likely to qualify for a win that day.

Treinen (forearm) will participate in live at-bats Wednesday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

Treinen will throw to live hitters for the first time in his recovery from a right forearm sprain, which has sidelined him since mid-April. The right-hander is eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list, and Wednesday's session will be a major step in determining if he's ready to begin a minor-league rehab assignment.

Snell (shoulder) is expected to face live hitters Wednesday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

Snell will officially face live batters for the first time since April, when he was placed on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation. Manager Dave Roberts said the left-hander was "not close" to facing hitters when asked about Snell's status last Friday, so it appears as if the southpaw is further along in his recovery process than his skipper anticipated. The Dodgers have no reason to rush Snell back to the mound, but if all goes well Wednesday, he could begin a minor-league rehab assignment in the coming weeks.

Glasnow (shoulder) is expected to ramp up to 75 pitches in his next rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

Glasnow threw 66 pitches over 2.1 innings, surrendering five runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out three batters in his latest rehab outing Friday. The right-hander is now expected to up his pitch count slightly in what could be his final rehab start according to manager Dave Roberts. Glasnow has been slowly working his way back from right shoulder inflammation, which has sidelined him since late April. The 31-year-old appears to have a chance to return to action with the Dodgers prior to the All-Star break.

Lee isn't in the Giants' lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks.

Lee had made eight consecutive starts, but he struggled in that span, going 2-for-26. The center fielder slashed .143/.277/.274 across 101 plate appearances in the month of June, which brought his average down from .277 entering June to .240 entering July. As Lee gets a reset on the bench Tuesday, Daniel Johnson is starting in center field and batting seventh.
